Maybe due to the 10 month wait, being shut out of Ticket Master for the first time, perhaps having some silly resentment that the Brothers are wrapping things up after *only* 40 years, and/or due to the abnormally high level of obnoxious fans last night in the orchestra, last night's show was my least favorite of all the shows I have attended.

I thought out of the gates they nailed Statesboro Blues, best I've ever seen or heard. But then they dropped down to a slow Gilded Splinters and the pumped up crowd deflated. I frankly don't care for all the moaning coming out of Warren in that song anyway. They picked things back up with Trouble No More, just to slow things down the next several songs. And the transitions between songs seemed longer than usual for the band. At times it was difficult to hear Gregg over the instruments as well. And does Midnight Rider get slower and slower each year? It's like the turntable needed a boost.

Perhaps I am imagining this, but Derek seemed to play much more without his slide last night. He really showed how talented a guitarist he is. He and Warren had some of their typical top notch duels last night. Black Magic Woman was a treat.

Once they got through the opening few minutes of Desdemona, the rest of the show picked up and they finished strong with Southbound, Mountain Jam and One Way Out. I was hoping for a Liz Reed siting, but oh well.

As others have posted, even their off-nights are wonderful shows, so don't get me wrong, glad I was there, just my expectations were very high and I did not enjoy this show as much as the others I have attended.

Enjoy the rest of the shows.

Hey folks the person to start this thread has on many if not all occasions in the past been negative on the band and management. Nothing wrong with that but I would take his comments with a grain of salt. You could say something similar for my comments which are typically overly positive but should be taken with that understanding. Looking forward to my show next week. I have never left a show disappointed although the quality can vary vastly. It will be great to be back at the Beacon.

I'd echo this completely. DOMEL can be a grump and often poops on topics around here from what I've seen. Not to say everyone doesn't hear differently, but The Allmans always gain momentum at the Beacon and it's going to come to a screeching halt on Tuesday. Go see them if you can afford or find tickets. I damn sure will be there on Saturday and Tuesday.

It's so sad to hear this. I'm a relatively new fan, my first show being in 2012. They are the first and the only band that can bring me to tears in the middle of an out-of-control guitar duel because it's ripping me to the core. It's a shame that it was a waste for you and for others. Gregg's voice was as good or better than I've heard over the ten or so shows I've attended. Jaimoe was going to town. The rest were their usual off the hook selves. They were damned good in my eyes and ears and I can't wait for next week!

The band has been great,Gregg is the problem sadly....low energy, seems lost at times....forgets lyrics and misses his cues constantly.....sadly it does hinder the show but the rest of the band has been bringing it......it is actually a good thing that they are calling it quits because to go on from here would ultimately tarnish the legend

The real fans get it. Just how I got Mt.Jam and eat a peach @the Peach. Best show I've seen was @ the Peach.....because it wasn't the "mailed in Set". That came on Sunday. Glad I didn't stay.
If I had a ticket to the Beacon I wouldn't expect Dicky .
I would like to hear
Hitt'n The Note, cause that would be an awesome final show, that's the band that's on stage.

And yes even the "mailed in sets "ARE BETTER then any one else's best..

TUESDAY NIGHT WAS AN AWSOME SHOW. DID GREG STRAIN A LITTLE BIT AND MISS A FEW LINES ...YES. FROM WHERE I SAT ( ORCH LEFT AISLE SEAT) THE BAND WAS TIGHT AND PLAYED WITH INTENSITY. DEREK AND WARREN WERE CLEARLY IN THE MOMENT AND GAVE US A GREAT SHOW. THE RYTHEM SECTION HAMMERED AWAY ALL NIGHT LONG. THERE WAS LESS CHATTER THAN NORMAL AROUND ME. PEOPLE IN MY GENERAL LOCATION SEEMED TO RECOGNISE THE SHOW FOR WHAT IT WAS. ONE OF THE LAST TIMES THEY WERE GOING TO SEE THE BROTHERS PLAY AT THE BEACON OR ANYWHERE ELSE. I WALKED OUT OF THE BEACON FILLED WITH JOY. I EXPECT TO DO SO AGAIN MONDAY NIGHT.
I POSTED MY REACTION TO TUESDAYS SHOW IN THE THREAD SET LISTS ANYONE ?

I don't know domel or if hes grumpy. I do know that I'm not grumpy nor am I a rookie when it comes to the Brothers. Tuesday nights show was slow and a little boring at times Imho. The first couple of nights are usually a little slow and the shows only get better as the run progresses .The
Beacon shows are special, nothing like a Beacon show. This was not the case Tuesday.

Agree re: not up to Beacon standards. I honestly think the absence of guests is hurting the run. To me what always made March special (and different from the summer tour) was the guests - and ensuing cohesive theme for a show. Be it psychedelia; straight on blues etc. On Wed I got to see two wonderful Derek "eastern music" solos on MJ and Black hearted woman. Would loved to have seen a guest or two to run with that (like Kofi; etc) to make it the theme of the show

Just one man's opinion

Yeah - I agree. I saw the rambling post calling out people who think they were off POS. Are you in for any other nights?
