As I always have, I'll jump on the Little Feat bandwagon as well. In fact I donated a couple of Little Feat CD's to Radio HTW 'cause I just love 'em. As I've said before I like this band better than the original. They have hugely expanded their style(s) of music post LG. They effortlessly roll from Cajun boogie to old fashioned R & R. Someone mentioned Texas Twister, that song just wails live! If your talking about unsung heros Bill Payne has got to be mentioned. This guy is a huge talent. Good singer, keyboard magican great song writer.

love Little Feat......... HL Tim.....I saw that same show here in St Louis about a month or so ago. great set list and lots of smiles on stage........when they slipped into Tennesee Jed it was amazing because I was hearing it but not trusting nor believing it. they had a pair of local horn dudes sit in which made it terrific - these guys were exceptional and sooo respectful and deeply into it. Freddie Tackett & Richie Hayward make is special for me. '............and if yewl give meeeee." 😎

Saw a picture in my local paper today from the remake of "Heartbreak Kid". In the picture was a minister performing a wedding ceremony with Ben Stiller. Turns out this minister is our own Berryfan..... The movie isn't getting good reviews, so check it out while you can... :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Lots of pm's, emails, and phone calls from all over the US from folks coming to the fri/sat Jam for Duane event. How can you express the gratitude, the feelings of thanks and a big slice of humble pie for having all of these wonderful people coming to Gadsden, Alabama to honor Duane Allman? No matter your preference of music, we would not have ANY of this today if not for Brother Duane and his vision. If you are on the fence about attending the celebration this year, YOU need to be here. It is truly living history in the music world. Show your love and appreciation for Duane (and Berry) and catch the train to 'Bama!! Tickets for the friday show are still available! spdb

Paul Barrere is one talented musician. Little Feat’s Waiting For Columbus is still my favorite all-time live album (yes, better than the ABB FE album, for me anyway). He is all over that record. Check out Paul’s solo album, On My Own Two Feet, he did in 1983. He recorded a lot of it in Atlanta with Andy West and Rod Morgensten of the Dixie Dregs. Funky rock and roll.

hi all.. I don't post too much, but I've been a member of the site for years now. Just thought I'd throw in positive vibes for the present Mule. I saw them last night at the UB Center for perfoming arts in Buffalo & it was an amazing show. They played old stuff & new stuff, & myself, along with everyone else from what I could tell, enjoyed the whole show immensley. Warren was right on all night & everyone else followed suit. Matt Abts did an ace drum solo set. The whole show was awesome, the venue was fantastic & they played for 3 hours, minus a short break. They have become more recognized & their fan base has grown, but sadly they are still not as well known as they should be, in my opinion. If ya get a chance to go see them, most definitly take the opportunity!

i love the mule. i left for lunch today and had them going on my work pc's headphones..."Where's my Mule" is playing, live from god knows where....come back 1/2 hour later....same song.... Geeze it takes Warren a long time to find his Mule! :winky: I'm getting bored - way bored - with the "high and mighty" stuff though, the "Million Miles" song is one of those songs that you can tell someone somewhere thinks should be a hit (Warren is real good those kind of 'near hit' songs, imho). They play it way too much, and i just dont like the "bigness" of the song. It seems too commercial and without heart. just read that the damn Jags game is blacked out, AGAIN - and they have just won three in a row!! 😡 sheesh....i guess my consolation prize will need to be seeing Gregg and Friends that night instead......

Hey Tim! Did Feats do any of their post-Lowell stuff? What about, "Texas Twister", "Rad Gumbo" - any of that stuff? I watched a Little Feat DVD the other night (Rockplast - from Europe, I think). While I love and miss Lowell George, it seemed to me that Paul Barre was the real unsung hero. It seems like he played the bulk of the lead guitar and sang many of the songs that I always thought were sung by Lowell. I never got a chance to see them. Maybe this DVD left me with the wrong impression. Glad to hear that they were on-time!

I love you guys. I really do. But make no mistake. Gov't Mule with Andy and Danny are doing great and the audiences have swelled exponentially throughout the country since Andy has joined the band. I know. I've watched them since October 2001 when Oteil and Chuck played Roseland in NYC. I was at the Deepest End concert. I saw the drop in attendance after that and I have seen the resurgence since DEja Voodoo all over the country. The West coast, CA in particlar, and perhaps Texas and New Mexico are areas where they can focus on, but every single house so far this tour has been quite filled. So don't think that there is a large contingent of people who don't like the band since Andy joined. In fact the opposite is true. The band has become much more accessible to people and the growth in the female fan base is proof enough to me alone. If all you like is the old stuff, then certainly, you have years of recordings to continue to listen to. No worries. As for Andy Hess, he left John Scofield's band to play for the Mule. Scofield doesn't look like he likes just anybody. I saw Hess, Scofield, Stanton Moore and John Medeski at a Christmas Jam a few years ago and was blown away. It's too bad that Scofield doesn't allow digital downloads cause that show was all I needed to know that Andy can stand up to and exceed the talents of most bass players in both the rock and jazz worlds. You should try to get your hands on it. If those guys toured today, they would sell out houses all over the country.

Saw an enjoyable Little Feat show in Atlanta last night at the Variety Playhouse. Nice crowd for a Wed night, probably 85% full. Heard Fat Man in the Bathtub, Willin', Don't Bogart that Joint, Oh Atlanta, Tennessee Jed, Dixie Chicken, Feats Don't Fail Me Now, All That You Dream opener...Nice 2 hour show. The communal joy in the place during Oh Atlanta was just great. Everyone dancing, singing and having a wonderful time. I missed hearing some of their latter day classics like Hate To Lose Your Lovin', Calling the Children Home, Cadillac Hotel and some others. They play all those but like the ABB they mix up the setlists regularly so they weren't on the setlist last night.... That is my fourth (5th?) LFeat show with the current lineup and everyone should do themselves a favor and see them. Paul Barrere is one of my alltime fav slide players (of course Lowell is near the top of that list). I picked up their all acoustic Live At Ram's Head CD after the show (autographed by all members). The lack of lineup changes in Little Feat through the years is amazing. 5 of the 7 members joined Feat in 1973 or earlier. Fred Tacket joined in 1998 when they reunited (forgot how good of a trumpet player he is!). Current lineup has been unchanged for 12 years. Kenny Gradney must have found the fountain of youth because he only looks 40 years old. Great band!

Please excuse my momentary lapse of reason. IMHO - WH is the best of the best and woody was the best bass to play with him. Dont know if it was chemistry or what but the two of them together were awesome. And then you add Matt Abts "playing the hell out the drums". You know, come to think of it I do like the old mule better. Guess I'm an Old School Mule!

I'm a much bigger Warren Haynes fan than I am Gov't Mule fan. I probably saw the original mule 7 times including their 2nd ever show at the Super Jam in Athens (great, great day of music). There is music from the original lineup I like, but live it was too bombastic and dark for me (that's coming from someone who used to love but still appreciates classic Iron Maiden, Priest, Sabbath). I honestly like the Mule when it is four or more people on stage. Warren is so great in large ensembles. My favorite Mule show ever was the one with Oteil on bass and Chuck L on keyboards at the Tabernacle. The download of Mule from Bonnaroo 07 is a classic and one I'll listen to. I still like to catch them from time to time, particuarly when there will be guests (Chris Robinson & Gregg Allman sitting in with them at the Tabernacle a few years ago for example).

I gotta agree with BDOB . Old or new I love the Mule. They way they blow the roof off the beacon every year for the New Years run is testament to how good this band is........ However, Hemlock is correct about how much of a bad ass Woody was and the new Mule ain't the same. Great band but I've never seen anything quite like those shows from 95-2000. Completely blew my mind. I was fortunate enough to see them in places as small as a coffee shop in the middle of nowhere PA to the biggest venue, being Irving Plaza which is pretty small. Those shows are really special to me. Nothing like it since. The Band was actually moving toward a more refined sound on Life Before Insanity. The sound of the later Mule albums is on there if you really listen. I love the new Mule and but since Life Before Insanity, there's always 1 or 2 tunes that I don't care for on the newer CD's. That's still head and shoulders above any other band out there's studio output. I'm just waiting for that Mule CD that's a masterpiece from start to finish like Dose or Life Before Insanity. I know they have it in them. I think Mighty High is going to be a lot of fun nothing great but a good time. Can't wait to get my preorder in the mail next week and I'll see you all at the beacon on 12/28 and 12/29 if I can swing it.
