We’re a culmination of the people we’ve loved (or not loved), met and learned from. For example, Kirk West (definitely a love!) hipped me to great coffee, Nag Champa incense and … overalls? Yes, overalls. Kirk used to wear them on tour often and one summer I decided to as well. Good-bye long, flowy, chiffony skirts and dresses. Hello denim, buckles and pockets.
Wearing overalls didn’t turn out to be my thing and I might have ditched wearing them right away if all the pockets hadn’t been so damn handy. The larger front bib pocket was the perfect size to hold various sticky passes, the pocketful of miracles. 
The smaller ones were the perfect place to stash practical things like sharpies, hair ties, keys, and to-do lists.

One thing I didn’t anticipate was that overall pockets were also the perfect place for people to stash things on me. The thought never occurred to me until I’d flown home from a tour date in Canada, changed out of my bibs and was about to put them in the laundry when I discovered a couple large joints tucked away. Omg! My heart raced thinking about what that pocketful of trouble could have led to if it had been discovered at the airport.
But it wasn’t. So I lit some Nag Champa, poured a great cup of coffee, chilled … and put the overalls in the laundry, never to be worn again. Thank you, Kirk, for being an always and forever love!
