The artist entrance to BBKing's in NYC is around the block from the main door and involves being dropped off and walking down an alley to get there.
One evening several Dickey Betts & Great Southern band members and I arrived before Dickey. Since I didn't have anything technical to do I waited by the door, watching for him. When he appeared I took off down the alley to give him a hug and say "hi!". And didn't stop quick enough.
When I leaned into Dickey for hug I knocked his cowboy hat off his head. Ohhhhh, things could have gone so badly at that moment. But before I had time to break into a sweat, he laughed, picked up his hat and said, "What's the matter with you, Lana? Haven't you learned how to hug a cowboy yet?"
