Woman Arrested at No Kings Rally for Impersonating the President
It's not surprising. I have a first cousin who's daughter fell in love with a Vietnamese man at a college here in America, married the man and eventually moved with him to Viet Nam.
About four years ago they attended a costume party and a Vietnamese man came dressed as Vietnamese Communist Party founder Ho Chi Minh.
Somehow the government found out and the man is still serving a SEVEN YEAR prison sentence for insulting the honorable founder of their system.
We could have that here during Trump's third term. And we have a socialist running for Mayor of New York City today.
I just saw Andrew Cuomo on TV and he said his opponent wants a rent freeze which will put some landlords into bankruptcy, free buses which will require increased income taxes on New Yorkers and businesses there.
Cuomo also claimed his opponent supports abolishing jails, cutting police funding, corporate tax increase from 7 to 11 percent, city owned and operated grocery stores which will unfairly compete with private enterprise grocery businesses and in essence turn New York City red!!
Trump keeps saying the man is a communist and says the Federal government will cut off all financial assistance to New York City as long as it's run by a communist.
@robertdee I have a cousin who is a reverend. He and his wife adopted a Ecuadorian baby about 30 years ago. They live in a very small town in Alabama. This baby (now a young man) speaks virtually no Spanish (I can talk circles around him thanks to my 2 years of Espanol ... 45 years ago!). He talks like an American (Alabamian, even). He is gainfully employed, pays taxes, maintains a drivers license - all that stuff. He's married with two children even. People in his town know him. He was a phenom on the high school football and baseball teams. Everybody in his hometown knows and loves him. We worry that should he venture out of his town - into cities like Atlanta, Birmingham etc, that he'd possibly get grabbed up by ICE. He talks like an American but he looks like every landscaper, construction laborer etc. Trump said he (thru ICE) would only go after the "worst of the worst". Instead, ICE is yanking up almost every person with dark skin, eyes and hair that they see walking down the street.
@rusty That is wrong and un-American. Reminds me of Japanese Americans being rounded up and moved to concentration camps during WW2. Their civil rights were absolutely violated.
This is not Communist Vietnam. We do not jailed a man for 7 years for dressing up like President Trump at a costume party as Vietnam did for dressing like Ho Chi Minh.
The Biden administration allowed over 3 million people into the country with asylum claims awaiting an appearance before an asylum judge. Trump during his first term would not allow those making an asylum claim into the country. They had to wait in Mexico. Trump ran for President promising to find these people, especially those who have committed crimes since arriving, and remove them from the country. Also there are many people undocumented who slipped into the country.
The law probably needs to be changed. Allowing over 3 million to wait in the United States for an asylum judge is workable either. It exposes the country to the possibility of many bad actors being allowed to be here.
In my view those who have committed crimes and those who slipped in should be removed but NOT in a heavy handed way unless they show a threat to law enforcement officers.
Those who have asylum cases pending should not be removed until an asylum judge denied their case. If their case is approved then they get to stay.
What is happening now is too heavy handed and involved racial profiling. The Trump dragnet is too broad which allows actual American citizens to be arrested and jailed and possibly sent to a foreign country and that is entirely illegal. Those are the tactics of an authoritarian regime.
" I need to see your papers please" to someone who isn't breaking the law is un-American.
Trump is certainly showing authorities tendencies. Drugs arriving from Central America must be stopped and those involved arrested. But Trump is having these boats blown up and the occupants killed. I'm not sure that is legal. But I am sure the people doing that must be stopped. Arrested, tried and jailed is likely the way to do it.
