Every now and then, I notice the words, NOT SECURE in the URL area on this page (and others). This generally spooks me away. Any idea what's up with that?

I have a lock icon with a red line through it right now, moving my cursor on that says "connection is not secure".

HTTPS is HTTP with encryption. The only difference between the two protocols is that HTTPS uses TLS (SSL) to encrypt normal HTTP requests and responses.

As a result, HTTPS is far more secure than HTTP.

I was pretty clear about why I was taking a break & although the major troll is gone, the vitriol continues. Just take a look at the Reopening America thread. I think discussing - or at least getting a sense of how others think about events - is helpful during a crisis. Although a topic may start out reasonably enough, it devolves into name-calling that nobody needs.

I got tired of being labeled a "liberal" or a "Dem" as if 2) they were curse words and 2) my entire identity & every thought was cleared w/the DNC before I posted. I got tired of demands for sources in support of a comment as though a forum post was the equivalent of a PhD dissertation. I got tired of explaining the meaning of terms I use every day. As someone here once said "google is your friend. Use it." I see both sides of issues & give credit to people regardless of political affiliation. I started a topic on GWB's admirable call for unity.

There are things worth discussing - the unprecedented meddling of the AG in Flynn's case which is still in the court system & controlled by a judge despite what the Exec branch thinks, the consequences of lax containment measures in the WH that now has Dr. Fauci & other scientific/medical experts in quarantine (the Pence lack of mask use thread I started had a lot of ridicule for a simple measure that has absolutely no downside), & the news that scientists believe a vaccine may never be developed.

What really killed my interest was the support for demonstrators against their governors' health policies who toted guns, Nazi & confederate flags, & other coded paraphernalia. The right to protest is unquestioned. Their accessories are irrelevant to the topic. They're indefensible to me.

So, I'm out for a while. I'll lurk to see if medically-trained members post apolitical information - there really is such a thing as fact that has no political affiliation.

cyclone88, you are an asset. I hope you will still contribute when and where you see fit.

I like everyone to contribute, of course some are better than others. But it takes all types here in the WP. We are what we are and we make this place what it is for good, better or worse. When good posters go away it leads to a higher concentration of bad posters.

I wish we could do a WP meet and greet! That'd be fun!

We're just doing our thing. Got pretty hot for a few days but has cooled down nicely. Enjoyed a nice drive with the family today.

Anything Goes forum has been stagnated for quite awhile. It has had a few peaks, but it has been mostly slow. I try to post things to keep it moving. Not so much here though. 😉

I forget the user ID he was using already, but the same guy who gets accused as being JerryPhilBob or MuleMan and the sort. Skydog also was removed. Maybe one or two other aliases, I'm not good at keeping track.

Oh right, that guy. Curious, was it announced or how did you find out? Or did you just notice their threads disappeared?

There were some threads he had posted in that just vanished...might've been last weekend I think.

I've seen that happen before and just thought they were gone for good, but actually they were just kind of in limbo, still on the server I guess, but not listed on the forum. A couple of those threads I was involved in with some good info and discussions before they got bogged down and derailed by certain individuals. So I found the threads by searching my posts and brought them back out. I think BigV did the same to the Biden thread.

We are going to fight and disagree and maybe even call eachother names sometimes, I just think it makes a huge difference how you do it and how everyone acts going forward. I can disagree with somebody on one point and then welcome their comment on another point. Just let things go, don't hold grudges. Certain people come just to cause trouble and purposefully fight without attempting to make any broader point then the whole forum just falls into chaos.

I appreciate this place being here and all of our posters who contribute. I wish more would contribute, but I get that a lack of traffic and a redundancy of topics isn't interesting for everyone.

So anyway, I just wanted to make sure our frequent and infrequent friends were still around after a week of unusual inactivity last week.

Totally hear ya, I enjoy the discussion, some interesting threads when people are listening and reading each other. But I stay away when it turns into a pissing match. None of this is ever worth getting mad at each or rude to each other.

Just wondering why that would keep you from posting in the forums.

The protesters in Virginia that carried firearms were again protesting the anti-second amendment laws passed by the idiots in the Virginia state legislature. Those guys I agree with.
The protesters against the stay-at-home orders I really do not agree with, and exceptionally think they were really stupid not to wear masks/gloves, or use separation.
The guy with the Confederate Naval Battle Flag, I have no idea what he was about.

Myself, this past week I've had an new MRI done and found the reason I can't raise my head above level (pinched nerve in C6), been getting ready for Mothers' Day, built a bridge over the "dry" creek that took almost 2 weeks to get back between the banks, put new rotor, calipers, and pads on my wife's car, and just staying busy while it's been cool and nice outside.'
