What are people paying for electric?

Here in northeast Ohio through Ohio Edison the billed KWH cost is $.051101. But the bill has all kinds of cost recovery, various charges and taxes on it. If I divide my amount due by the killowatts used I would get $.12877 for a total cost per KWH.
Our actual generation 1/1/18 to 9/30/18 came from Nuclear 34%, Natural Gas 31%, Coal 29.5%, Wind 2.5%, Hydro 1.5%, Solar .5%, Biomass .5%, Other .5%.
What about your bills?
Also, anyone else constantly get harassed by those people wanting you to change your electric supplier?

In Chicago area it is .072 for just the energy. Then there is the distribution charges and all the taxes and fees. I'll have to check a bill for the total cost.
We still get a lot of offers from other suppliers, but it's not really door to door like it was when Illinois first got choice in providers. When it was just commercial, there were 7-10 suppliers. Once it opened up to residential, there were close to 60 ....
One piece of advice - never sign up with an alternative supplier that offers a variable rate - they usually have a teaser rate for 3 months and then really get you after that - either go with a fixed price rate or hourly pricing from the utility (which can be risky if you get a few really hot days).
Illinois allows municipal aggregation - a supplier can bid on supplying the whole town. People can opt-out if they want to or keep their own supplier. That usually is a better rate than the local utility and better than you can get on your own. The town has to pass a referendum on the ballot to allow opt-out aggregation.

OK, I was able to check a couple of bills. My current supplier is a little higher because the utility price dropped because of some changes in the way PJM charges are applied (PJM is the regional transmission system). So I am paying $.0748, while the utility rate is now $.07219.
My last bill was higher (because of the cold weather). The distribution charges and taxes added $.0677, making my last bill $.1425. The month before my usage was less, so it was $.1392 total.
I looked at my last 12 months, and my bill averaged $99.25 a month - I have a fairly small house with no basement - but I do have a lot of electronics and a very loud stereo....
I will have to look elsewhere to see the generation breakdown, but since I have a supplier different than the utility it is based on their buying. In Illinois the utility only distributes the power. If you don't select a supplier a state agency buys the power for the utilities - the prices change annually, with a summer and a winter rate....

Been a while, but I bought my last electric - a Les Paul - at Gibson shop in Nashville in 2004, 1200$.

Everyone else must be off the grid! Or would rather just have pissing matches in other threads.
Thanks Sang. Your rate isn't much higher than mine then.
Those people that try and get you to switch, sneaky fuckers. Local guy called in our the talk show, they sent him a letter saying he would be switched unless he responded and told them not to. He ignored it thought it was junk. He gave no affirmative authorization for the change. First few months rate was the same, then all of a sudden they tripled it to .15 per KWH! I believe it. I got a letter for natural gas a couple months back. Said the same thing. I immediately called my provider and told them I never agreed to any kind of change and to keep my provider the same. They said "you must've told somebody you would change"...oh no, no, no, no that never happened.
So beware for sure!

Usually around 50-60$/month.

In Illinois I have never seen a gas alternative supplier do better than the local utility rate - a bunch of people lost money a few years ago .... the local rate is pretty much market based.
For electric, the alternative suppliers could beat the utility rate because the utilities were locked into some long term contracts that took years to unravel .... but now that choice has been around since 2002 for residential, they all buy from the same market (PJM) and so it is harder for them to beat the price ..... muni ag being one way to get a lot of customers and keep the price lower.....
I have recently been getting mailers for a green energy supplier - but they are way higher than the local rates (like $.12) and become variable after a few months - can't see too many people wanting to do that.
In Illinois the supplier needs your account number to switch you, and must prove that you agreed (taped calls to a 3rd party or a signed form) ... so never give out your account number to anyone .....
