Warning - This product contains chemicals known to state of California to cause cancer
Does anyone pay attention to the warning that are on products?
I have been seeing this warning on so many things through the years it rings meaningless to me.
Does anyone actually not buy products that say this or do you actually handle them differently somehow?
Hard to avoid toxic chems, but a heads up never hurts. I read ingredients, stick with the simple ones.
Do you really need to lather your skull or eat stuff containing methylchloroisothiazolipropylhexaluminumpolymers?
"If you can't put it in you, don't put it on you".
I'm pretty sure I actually saw this warning on nitrile/latex gloves - something that is used to protect one from dangerous chemicals and bacteria.
So many things are labeled due to Prop 65 now that the warning seems meaningless. Atleast to me.
A lot of folks allergic to latex. I get it, yeah it seems like a lot, still too much info is better than none, happily pounding DDT and huffing lead, like when I was young. Any warnings I see are just a reason to maybe exercise a little personal discernment before consumption. They aren't making this stuff up.
Yes, they actually do not make most of these gloves out of latex anymore, but I thought some people wouldn't know what nitrile was so I put the slash latex.

The one that is USDA accepted has the 2-mercaptobenzothiazole.
I was just wondering if anyone else actually pays attention to these warnings and buys a different product instead or if they just become numb to warnings on so many items. Maybe California should label the things that don't increase the risk of cancer instead?
Warning: Too many warning signs are bad for your health

The answer is that most people don't pay attention anymore. Even if a product doesn't contain hazardous chemicals it is safer for them to put a label on it to shield them from lawsuits. As somebody in the environmental consulting field, I tell my clients to put a label on their door just in case. It can't hurt. This was a law that voters passed that once lawyers got a hold of became meaningless. It is also somewhat meaningless since natural products don't require labels, and there are more carcinogens in mushrooms and other natural products than in many man made products that require labels.
Unless you are eating nitrile gloves you will probably survive. I wouldn't worry too much about it, just steer clear of California, like the warnings say.
That is my point...I don't worry about any of it, so what good does it even do? So maybe I'm a dumbass, does anyone else worry about it was my question. 2112 says most people don't pay attention and I would agree. It is warning about too much stuff that resembles chicken little telling us the sky is falling when it isn't. Something is going to get you, does anyone really need to be concerned about handling consumer AA batteries or drinking coffee - California says you should. Seems lame to me. Limited headcount here, just seeing what people would say.
