Voting 2014

Hope many of you have done your early voting, if not be prepared for a little bit of wait time at the pols Tuesday.
Make sure to watch your vote if you are using the touch screen machines, they have already been known to switch your vote from Republican to Democrat in Illinois and Maryland.
(Note for those who challenge this: Got to any of the following websites, www.foxnews.com, www.abcnews.com, www.cbsnews.com, www.nbcnews.com, america.aljazeera.com, www.cnn.com and look it up for yourselves.)
Remember that if you are surveyed at the polls by any news agency, say the name of the opponent of who you voted for.

After reading the newspaper blurbs about candidates running for election here on Long Island, I have to get out and vote. Some of the people running clearly do not have the knowledge to represent us. It's nice that they want to try to change things, but with the times that are coming, we need people who have a clue. If things keep going as they have been, I may have to run, my platform will of course be FOREIGN POLICY, and preserving our Constitutional Rights, and restoring them where they have been trashed.
If nobody is worth a damn on your ballot, then write somebody in.

a buddy of mine went to vote today and here is what his experience was like
"I just cancelled out some asshole republicans vote. whose? I don't know his name but he told me that my " Vote for Alice, a troubled man for a troubled time." t-shirt was inappropriate for voting on election day. I told him, "my shirt that said "republicans suck" was dirty". my timing was impeccable. the girl checking my id was having a hard time keeping a straight face. it was classic. then when walking out, I told her that i'm not myself until I've had my Snickers bar, then she busted up laughing. that asshole should have known I was out of smoke and in no mood for his bullshit. lol, oh well, don't to forget to vote!"
Alice as in Alice Cooper....i'll post a picture of the shirt when I get home.

Through the years I've sworn by, sworn at and sworn off both Democrats and Republicans. I have (and still) wondered why big party candidates spend $millions to get jobs that pay less than a couple of hundred grand. I have become politically jaded.
I have arrived at the decision that the party that speaks to my greatest personal issues and concerns are the Libertarians. They always seem to have a bunch of nut jobs running for office, but as far as party platforms go, I seem to be a Libertarian. At least on paper.
I go through this every election season. I walk up to that booth knowing that a vote for a third party is basically a thrown away vote. Kinda like being a Cubs fan or something. I can cheer all I want, but in the end my guy ain't gonna be there.
Negative ads by both major party candidates (in my area) are a real turn-off. In some cases, if 5% of anything that each person says about the other is true - I wonder why both aren't in prison.
I have to make myself go and vote. I feel that the effort is futile at times. But my dear old aunt says, "if you don't vote - don't complain".
So I did make it to my polling place and I cast my conscience. I officially have renewed my 4 year license to complain!
Keep on rockin' in the free world!

" if 5% of anything that each person says about the other is true - I wonder why both aren't in prison".
😛 😉

Got this text from a friend a little after 7 when the polls opened...
"I'm the 7th person in line, and out of the 6 in front of me, 3 were told they had already voted."
I'm sure they just forgot....
Gotta' love the "system".

Funny story! But I'm (almost) surprised you didn't get busted for the "No Campaigning Within 500 Feet (or whatever distance)" rule (law?).

Was in line to vote this morning and our House Rep, Kevin Yoder, was ahead of me. He was with his wife and baby (in matching outfits) and his photographer. He also had a little blush on. Pictures of "playing" with the baby in line, pictures of him voting. Such a contrived exercise. Oh well.
It has always irked me that I have to vote in a church, but, whatever. Even with the election worker average age appearing to be about 112, things were going smoothly. Didn't appear that the machine switched any of my votes.

I was thinking the same thing when my polling place this morning had 4 or 5 friends or spouses of candidates standing inside the front door. They were simply introducing themselves as friend/spouse of candidate so-and-so and were not actually saying to vote for anyone in particular, so maybe that's the loophole. Either that or the election officials just didn't care.

Our town's community center burned down last year so for now we are voting at the local LDS church...I was sorta nervous about getting in and out of there without being converted. 😮 😉
We vote on paper ballots that are then scanned, always has been smooth process. The storm over the weekend whallopped a whole bunch of rural communities in eastern Maine that are still without power (12+" of heavy wet snow and high winds knocked out power to 10% of the states population). A few polling places had to be moved, but voting is not an issue even without power because the paper ballots can be put into a secure ballot box until they can be scanned...a side benefit of "old" tech I guess. Although it will be very interesting to see how the storm's aftermath impacts turnout...the impacted areas tend to break more conservative.

Whenever I walk into a church I'm always more concerned with the roof caving in.

Not sure how they had already voted...since the precinct had just opened when they stepped in to vote...?
I would hope out of 3 people at least one of them would have recalled they had already voted, before they got up early in the morning to get to a polling place and cast their vote! 😮 😉

Or just exploding in spontaneous combustion... 😛

I just figured they voted early, either in person (this is becoming more popular, some towns around here had early in-person voting on Saturday) or absentee and thought they'd see if the "vote early, vote often" saying was something you could actually do...and the "system" prevented it as it should. However, if they were told they had voted early but they really hadn't, then that is a problem.

Yes, you'd think so. But maybe one "forgot" and the other two were trying to vote twice? Or the system is deeply flawed, take your pick. 😛

Very light traffic at my polling location. Only one other voter and myself present at the time.

freakin' RI. As blue as blue can get. Not one viable candidate to oppose our nitwit congressional delegation who vote party line 99% of the time and don't have an original thought in their oatmeal-filled noggins. It's nauseating. Hey RIers, you create the mess by voting for the same lethargic, sluggish yes-men then you complain about our plight!
ok...I'm done.

Or maybe they were like Muleman, who said he tried to vote out of state in a state he used to live in, just as a test just to see if he could. Yeah, that's it. It was just a test... 😉

Took me 20 minutes to vote.

No line for me, but there never is.

Yep. So on this site we see 2 of the most conservative posters are into tests & experiments. I hope the results validate the means.
Maybe we should leave tests & experiments to the classroom & labs?

took me 15 mins. they did move it from a school to a church across the street.
