That's right, Pence and Kain. So you think it will be boring? Well neither of them have the charisma and personalities of their proposed bosses, but we really do need to take a closer look at them. Why?

Erik Prince founder of Blackwater (yes the mercenary group) donated to Pence's campaign. 😮

David Koch has contributed $300,000 to Pence's campaign. Koch as in Koch brothers.

Pence favors privatizing social security.

I will start looking into the Democratic candidate shortly.

I thought Kaine was pretty rude with all of the interuptions and the moderator should have got a handle on that early. I thought that both candidates took exceptional liberties with the truth. So who won? Hard to say. Kaine was very aggressive and made his points more forcefully, but came across as less likable. I honestly call it a draw. I don't think any votes are going to be swayed.

90% was just what I expected, a rehash of the same attacks on both candidates by their sidekicks. Both Kaine and Pence were in difficult positions; Kaine having to act like an attack dog which seemed uncomfortable, and Pence having to defend the absurdities of Trump. Most of it was just noise. But there was a fascinating moment near the end when they were asked about how they dealt with situations where policy issues conflicted with their faith. In that moment both candidates seemed sincere and respectful of each other, although their answers were quite different. If you could only see 5 minutes of the dabate that would be the part to see. Unfortunately most folks probably tuned out by then.

At least it got off to a good start. 😛

Pence: “Thank you to Norwood University for their wonderful hospitality.”

False. The vice presidential debate was hosted by Longwood University in Farmville.

Pence's agenda to me was to save conservatism from being turned into a free form exercise where all it represented was what Trump said on any particular day. I got the feeling he truly believes in his politics and religion. Pence has been on the trail for months clarifying and reinterpreting what Trump said and he had the answers to all of the points Kaine brought up, but he didn't use them for the most part.

Republicans are happy Pence prevailed not because he defended Trump but because he took the first step in stating that there is still a conservative party. How Trump will react to this when he realizes he has been had is anybody's guess. Will he go after his running mate which would destroy his campaign. Or maybe he can find a woman to beat up on twitter for a few days to reassert his power.

There was no interesting commentary or insight offered when I checked in. Actually, it was sad to see that there was radio silence from all the WP Crooked Hillary supporters yesterday on such an important nite and you bust my chops on a silly dig at this clown?

I thought that was a good exchange - probably the best of the night. If points were to be won on this issue, Kaine's support of Roe v Wade probably played well to independent thinking women (target audience) on balance.

Pence is very smooth and his performance was very good. He is quite seasoned at performance although he could not and avoided defending Trump at many turns. Trump could learn a lesson from Pence in how to address quiestions and not take bait, but that's asking a lot of the Twitter candidate.

Kaine's performance was fair at best. His skill & persona is not that of an attack dog. He probably did what was expected of him.

In the end, I doubt last night mattered or shifted any votes. Sunday night will matter more.

Kaine would have been better to let Pence talk and interrupt less. Pence came off looking more presidential and cool. The one thing that Pence avoided was taking the bait in trying to defend Trumps words, although he said that Trump didn't say things that he is clearly on tape saying. Overall, I think this debate helped Pence's future aspirations. Not sure it will help Trump, other than maybe getting focus off of Trump's dismal first debate for a few days.

I will start looking into the Democratic candidate shortly.

You should start by learning to spell his name.

Agreed.

I know I'm a stickler for correct usage of words and dates. It's served me well in my profession, but writing was an important part of my elementary school education. What we write is sometimes the only tool we have in conveying ideas, supporting positions, and persuading strangers. It's certainly the only history we have before sound recordings. It's ALL we have on a forum.

Word choice is important. Trump slings around any phrase that pops into his mind and sometimes it's fact and mostly it's not. He's the most egregious example that words - promises, ideas, and leadership concepts - don't matter anymore. When questioned, he either lies or has one of his people say "who cares?" or "everybody does it."

I doubt Trump could articulate where he stands on any issue in writing. He's a carnie barker.

Sorry to single you out, Gina, but in the past few days, you've made what I consider to be errors that undermine whatever you're trying to say. If you want to be taken seriously, check your dates and names before posting.

I'm not the grammar, spelling, or English language police and don't want to be. I'm a dinosaur. Younger generations don't write at all. If it's not an emoji, why bother?

I think Pence took care of Pence last night. He didn't get any love from Trump, but he held his own for 2020.

I really hate saying it but I think that Kaine won the debate because he came armed to the teeth with specifics and seemed better prepared than Pence was. They did not get enough time to make their points on the issues. I think that is why there was the constant interrupting. They realized if they wanted to make their points they had to jump on the opportunity and not wait or be polite. Pence is a conservative, well mannered man. Kaine used phrases or things that Donald said to try to damage his credibility. Watching the debate, I realized this country is in more trouble than we realized due to the people who are leading us. Kaine seemingly has no idea of some of the things Hillary has done. I realized how easy it has been to mislead these Congressional representatives. What really matters in the election is how the Presidential candidates feel and will vote and govern based on their stands on the issues. There are differences, plusses and minuses on each side.

Trump can articulate quite well where he stands on the issues, and what he would like to put in place. I have put up the link to his position on the issues and I'll do it again.

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/

https://www.donaldjtrump.com/policies/

Does Donald talk off the cuff? Yes he does.
Does he filter what he says? Not all the time.
Is his heart in the right place? Yes it is.
Is he the best one to lead America? Yes he is, if you want your Constitutional rights protected, if you want national state sovereignty maintained, if you want us out of wars in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and anywhere else on the globe. If you want your taxes reduced, if you want someone who believes in God and will not ban his name, if you want those responsible for 9.11.01 to be held accountable, he WILL get to the bottom of it, and YES it will be ugly, with tyranny and treasonous participants from the US and other countries involved.

If you're not doing better than you were eight years ago, maybe it's time to let him try. If he messes up, fails to deliver on his promises, then you can fire him during the next election.

Trump is now saying that Pence won on the issues which is nonsense as Trump/Pence are losing the race. If the issues were that popular they would be winning I believe.

Kaine was basically attacking Trump and that sustained attack has the greater resilience. This new ad attacks Pence's veracity as well as reinforces the impression that Trump is not fit to be President.

"Watching the debate, I realized this country is in more trouble than we realized due to the people who are leading us."

Response - Gina's opinion or fact?

"Kaine seemingly has no idea of some of the things Hillary has done. I realized how easy it has been to mislead these Congressional representatives."

Response - How do you know this? Please provide specifics.

"Trump can articulate quite well where he stands on the issues, and what he would like to put in place."

Response - Boy, can he articulate quite well. His favorite words are pigs, dogs, fat people, rapists, etc.? Near end of the first debate his responses were disjointed. It looked like he lacked stamina. Trump's stances are usually winged off the top of his head.

As it was, peoples' nest eggs were devastated - imagine if SS had been privatized.

1. Hate to break this to you, but money flowing into the stock market boosts stock prices.

2. Well now we know what happened. The Republicans crashed the economy.

3. It didn't devastate me. I was buying like crazy. The only investors that got devastated were the "geniuses" that panicked and sold at the bottom.

1. Dead wrong. Stock prices are moved by supply and demand. If more people are buying a stock than selling it the price moves up. Take a look back at the 90's when many tech stocks were skyrocketing despite the fact that the companies had yet to even turn a profit. Can you explain that?

2. As far as you know.

3. LOL....I wouldn't be too sure about that.

What a punk. I thought Kaine was supposed to be such a statesman and class act. Pence made him look like a total jerk.

Kaine's job that night was to reinforce what everyone knows about Trump. That is not who he really is & not a great role for him. He was still effective for what was expected. If you know anything about his record and who he is, you wouldn't have made your assessment.

Pence did a good job on style but did very little to defend the good and honorable Twitter / Birther Candidate. The denials he launched that night were proven to be not true discussing Trump's statements.

To use your words - The big "punk" will have a hard time Sunday night not imploding unless he takes a bunch of valium for the next debate.

Perhaps all you need to know about Kaine is that he's a Catholic who's "personally against abortion." Professionally, he favors abortion on demand for any reason and even favors public funding of the procedure. Is that "not who he really is," as well? What a stand up guy!

He's a punk.

Pops is a Kaine fan-boi. Must also admire his oral arguments in court on sodomy as well. They make as much sense as this one.
