A lot smarter than Palin, but yeah. Just being intelligent isn't enough, you have to know what the h*ll you are talking about, and AOC seems to be a slogan repeater.

Come on Palin? This girl is Young, hell I am 55 and still hoping to someday pull my sh!t together, she's spunky, a bit flighty and mouthy perhaps, cares about the issues could be a special leader and do I dare say "politician" ughhh!............Peace........joe

AOC, the Sarah Palin of the left.

Fair and AOC is living proof that a College education is not a definite sign of intellectual agility. It would appear that she does not excel at thinking before she speaks....One term and out; back behind the bar in no time.

"Say, you look familiar, how do I know you"?

I agree crazyjoe, she has the charisma and guts the makings of a formidable stateswoman. She badly needs to get on her game as far as being able to discuss world issues. Really bugs me when she draws that blank then comes up with some lame stock reply that only shows she knows zero about the subject.

It is fantastic she is not afraid to call out the US on the border concentration camps.

She does seem to have a certain something that has the rush types frothing at the mouth.

I realize "concentration camp" is a trigger word here, so here are a few things to consider before telling me how ashamed I should be for saying "concentration camp". Odd thing was, I found this info while looking up "detention facility", "transition facility", both terms that I would get no heat for using, but were also what Nazis called their camps besides "concentration camp".

I did some reading up on concentration camps. The following is from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum website:

. . . The killing centers, also called extermination camps, with the major exception of Auschwitz II (Birkenau) did not fall under the Nazi concentration camp system. Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka, and Chelmno were never officially designated by the SS as concentration camps, though they were under the control of the SS.

Differences between a Concentration Camp and a Killing Center

Generically defined, a concentration camp is a site for the detention of civilians whom a regime perceives to be a security risk of some sort. What distinguishes it from a prison (in the modern sense) is that incarceration in a concentration camp is independent of any judicial sentence or even indictment, and is not subject to judicial review.

The term concentration camp was used long before the Nazis came to power. It came into popular usage at the end of the nineteenth century, when it was applied to the housing of military troops and especially to the imprisonment of civilians during the Boer and Spanish-American Wars. Officials also referred to certain types of prison camps for civilians in World War I as concentration camps . . .

. . .Today, a growing number of historians prefer the term killing center rather than death camp and extermination camp. They argue that death camp is a rather vague concept that could be applied broadly to all Nazi camps where death occurred. Likewise, some scholars have objected to using the Nazi-inspired term extermination camp, which conveys the notion that the prisoners were akin to vermin or pests that needed to be eradicated. The term killing center more precisely identifies the function of the facility without any such pejorative connotations about the victims.

I think it's funny to see people criticizing AOC's perceived lack of intelligence when our POTUS just gave a speech claiming that in the Revolutionary War, colonial forces stormed the AIRPORTS.

Well at least you acknowledge that she has emotions and thinks. Your boy Trump is an emotionless sociopath who doesn't think.

She is extremely popular among the non-oldwhiteguy set.
She is at the beginning of a political ascent.

It is a chemical addiction to bursts of adrenalin and dopamine released upon reaction to offending stimuli. The more advanced indignation addicts seek out stimuli then amplify the high by engaging others.

Couple thoughts from David Brin on this:

We all know self-righteous people. (And, if we are honest, many of us will admit having wallowed in this state ourselves, either occasionally or in frequent rhythm.) It is a familiar and rather normal human condition, supported — even promulgated — by messages in mass media.

While there are many drawbacks, self-righteousness can also be heady, seductive, and even... well... addictive. Any truly honest person will admit that the state feels good. The pleasure of knowing, with subjective certainty, that you are right and your opponents are deeply, despicably wrong.

Sanctimony, or a sense of righteous outrage, can feel so intense and delicious that many people actively seek to return to it, again and again. Moreover, as Westin et.al. have found, this trait crosses all boundaries of ideology. (I discuss this general effect in The Transparent Society.)

Indeed, one could look at our present-day political landscape and argue that a relentless addiction to indignation may be one of the chief drivers of obstinate dogmatism and an inability to negotiate pragmatic solutions to a myriad modern problems. It may be the ultimate propellant behind the current "culture war."

It is a pretty poor defense that counts on the bashing of one to defend the thoughts (or lack thereof) as stated by another

She is extremely popular among the non-oldwhiteguy set.
She is at the beginning of a political ascent.

She consistently quotes non-facts and has no proof to back these things up. Merely stating ideals that propose all things free and blaming the status quo for all the Nations ills is no cure, but seems to appeal to others of her same ilk, who are blind to the research which could possibly expose one to the facts. "the beginning of a political ascent"...is a pathetic view of what is in store if it is a glimpse of future voters and their desire to follow as sheep....

Quoting non-facts with no proof to back these things up - Sound like someone else we know...who might that be...Hmmm

Glimpse of future voters and their desire to follow as sheep - The future is now, and they wear red hats.

AOC learned from the best. Trump has transformed US politics into the Jerry Springer Show. The only way to beat Trump is at his own game. America is not interested in facts or integrity. Hilary tried that strategy, not stooping to his level, and got smoked.

Exactly! Facts and integrity used to mean something. Unfortunately, those days are over. At one time Americans respected leaders for taking responsibility for their own actions. Now it is always the media's fault, or a broken teleprompter, or an activist judge, or the other political party. Lying is a daily occurrence, and 40% of America don't seem to care. What happened to America?

AOC is on twitter quoting Evita Peron. Approvingly. After Trump compared her to Peron....on twitter. Those two can't go away quickly enough.

Here's your whole post:

"AOC is another one living rent free in the trumpsters' feeble minds.

A smart Hispanic woman just gets them all riled up.

Probably think it's high comedy when rush limbaugh miss-pronounces her name to make it sound even more foreign and spooky".

Your thoughts, your interpretation, I repeat "Who here in addition to you has referenced her background or race ?

What is your point?

Nothing I said about her isn't true.

Clownservatives have problems with strong, smart women, even more so when they are of color.

See Elizabeth Warren, AOC, Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi, etc.

The point is, she could be Hispanic, Russian, or Gambian. She might be black, brown or white.

Ignorant, brash, tactless and brain dead know no boundaries. I made that statement as a result of the words that flow freely from her mouth and it had zero to do with her ethnicity.

Nice try.

All this swerve talk because it was apparently just too hard to agree that Ivanka Trump had no business being on the stage at the G20. The Rightists just can’t be disloyal to their royal family.

Thanks....I was just a bit dumbfounded that you point these things out about a late 20's first term House member but yet seem to not be all that bothered about the very same traits in a 70+ year old President....I'm not trying to be a dick, just trying to understand how Trump supporters get all heated up and criticize ignorance, childish an impulsive behavior, etc. in AOC but yet barely register a raise in their blood pressure when Trump displays such traits on a daily basis..

Is it the Right wing media manipulation that began once they decided to make her their new Hilary Clinton or is it genuine dislike for a relatively powerless youngster?...Inquiring minds want to know...I think there's a Master's thesis just waiting to be written about the levels of denial in the Trump phenomenon.

The viral video of Ivanka Trump at the G20 perfectly captures the problem with nepotism

I checked out the article, and the videos in the article. In the original video, you can clearly see where it was stopped and restarted. Was there something about the original that might have been informative? Need to get that out there before the conspiracy groups start something.

I hit this thread thinking it was about Alexandria Ocasio Cortez...

The title got me to click in thinking the same thing.

people who think AOC is the answer to a prayer should go on Youtube and lookup AOCs dumbest tweets, AOC comments of the week, well, just type in AOC and start watching.
Some of her district residents claim they are Democrats, but are backing a Republican in the next election.

I don't know about the speech someone here said Trump talked about the airports during the Revolution, but I
have heard that AOC wants to get rid of airports, and planes, has some kind of weird plan about Green something, and she doesn't like cows to fart.
Replies requested on all points.

I doubt she will be a one term er since there are a lot of graveyards that haven't been voted out.
