Donald Trump Calls for "A Total and Complete Shutdown" of Muslims Entering the US

After terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, California, kicked off a rhetorical race to the bottom among Republican presidential candidates, no candidate has demonstrated as fervent a commitment to winning that race than billionaire frontrunner Donald Trump.

The candidate has suggested that, in order to prevent future terrorist attacks, the federal government should be able to close down mosques, register American Muslims and establish a database containing their identities. In an appearance on Face the Nation on Sunday, Trump called for increased surveillance of Muslim communities, organizations and mosques by law enforcement and national intelligence agencies, as well as police profiling of Arab Muslims.

"I think there can be profiling," Trump said. "A lot of people are dead right now ... everybody wants to be politically correct, and that's part of the problem that we have with our country." He then added, "You have people that have to be tracked. If they're Muslims, they're Muslims."

But a statement released by his campaign on Monday may be Trump's most forceful stance on the issue yet. In a press release sent, Trump announced that he is called for a "total and complete shutdown" of immigration by Muslims into the United States "until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on."

"Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension," Trump said in the release. "Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. If I win the election for president, we are going to make America great again."

Trump may have given a preview of his new anti-terrorism policy at a campaign event in Davenport, Iowa, on Saturday. Addressing the fact that the two alleged attackers were inspired by — if not materially supported by, the Islamic State militant group — Trump was scatologically concise. "That shit is not going to happen any more," Trump told the cheering crowd of 2,500 people. "We're going to be so vigilant. We're going to be so careful. We're going to be so tough and so mean and so nasty."

The statement cites a poll conducted by the Center for Security Policy, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank based frequently accused of propagating conspiracy theories, which purports to demonstrate that 25% of American Muslims agree that violence against Americans is "justified as a part of the global jihad." The poll, released in June, also asserts that 51% of those polled "agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to shariah [law]," a legal framework in which laws and personal conduct are dictated by Islamic religious teachings.

The statement doesn't clearly specify whether Trump's proposal would apply specifically to Muslim immigrants from other nations, or whether it would entail a blanket ban on any Muslims, including American citizens, from entering the country for any reason whatsoever. Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told the Associated Press that Trump's proposed ban would apply to "everybody," including Muslims seeking immigration visas as well as tourists seeking to enter the country.

Anyone considering voting for this piece of sh!t is a bigger idiot than he is.

His real aim is more like "Make America White Again".

i find this point of time in the history of the world to be extremely frightening. the stupidity and hatred is something i have never seen in my lifetime.

[Edited on 12/8/2015 by LeglizHemp]

Trump said also tonight, some kind of limitation on speech on the internet needs to be implemented.
Amazing suggestions from his campaign. frightening.

But as long as they can still buy guns legally, the right will be happy.

Boy there are more Muslim groups on this proposal popping up everywhere to vocalize their thoughts than have denounced either the Paris or San Bernidino attacks.

As they should. Muslims have no more obligation than any other group to publicly denounce extremist attacks, but they damn well should be opposing Trump's proposal. Your comment assumes that attacks are carried out by mainstream Muslims not by radical extremists, and it implies that Muslims support the actions of the extremists.

And, if you actually watched the news, there were plenty of Muslim groups denouncing the violence........

Am I the only one who thinks Trump is not really running for President? I think he's starring in a reality show of his own making to illustrate how easy it is for intelligent but scared people to be lead into dangerous places by a charismatic leader. I'm not saying he's the equivalent of Adolf Hitler, but I do think the same factors are in play that allowed Hitler to come to power. I don't think Trump wants, or even would accept, the power. I think he wants to see how far he can go before people reject his radically un-American proposals. He's probably as surprised as I am that it hasn't happened already. I expect one day he'll step up to the podium and say "PUNKED!". Maybe then some of his followers will look back and see how far astray they've been led.

His motivations wouldn't surprise me either way, but he has pointed out one simple thing about our political election process.

By not being an actual office-holding politician, he has waaaaaay more leeway on what he says. If Marco Rubio says something outlandish, well, he's a 44 year old junior senator with a long political career ahead of him if he drops out of this Presidential race.

Trump has absolutely nothing to lose. What's brilliant in a simple way is that he knows how fast he can move the needle. All he has to do is say something beyond the pale and all of the sudden everyone is talking about him again. Not Hillary, not Bernie, Ted, Marco or Carly. Trump.

A quick check of social media shows that the Trump support is just as solid and plenty of people agree with him. This is far from over.

Don't forget he has played this game before many times, only in the context of entertainment.

What I'm suggesting is that in his mind this may still be in the context of entertainment. Or maybe not entertainment but making a point about the state of our society. But I don't think his objective is to be our next President.

He's only one large scale homeland terrorist attack away from looking like a very smart man and the frontrunner for President.

Methinks you may be underestimating the drunken effect of fame and adulation to the narcissistic ego. 😉

You may be right about that Bhawk, but I hope I am not underestimating the ability of voters to come to their senses before election day.

As I was driving this morning the thought occurred to me that more Americans have probably been harmed by pedophilic Catholics than by Muslim extremists. I wonder what the reaction would be if Trump suggested that we ban any priests from entering the country?

What about underestimating the extreme amount of hours and stress involved with being President? Would someone like Donald want that responsibility at this point in his life? I don't think he wants to be President either. If he's elected, I think he'll regret it.

It's too bad that republicans don't realize that, just as Obama has been blocked by his opponents in Washington, so will Trump. A big reason why the right hates Obama is because he's too extreme and polarizing and inexperienced. So why they would invite that again is beyond me. He won't be able to accomplish any of what he is saying. Vote for what he can do, not for what he says that makes you feel good.

Well it's not just The Donald that is ramping up security. I just got something saying that as of October 2016 people with regular New York State driver licenses WILL NOT be able to get on an airplane to fly DOMESTICALLY, within our borders unless they get an ENHANCED ID that complies with Homeland Security's standards. Apparently the REAL ID Act passed in 2005 required it but the states did not bother to do much about it. Nobody wants to pay more for the license or anything else.

New York has ten million people who do NOT have the enhanced ID's and they may not even know about it till they go to an airport and cannot get on a plane. As it is now, you have to arrive 2-3 hrs. ahead of your flight to go thru the TSA security procedures.

AND there are only FOUR states in the US that offer enhanced Driver's Licenses Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont and Washington. Are they tryin' to tell us something? That we are the only states that need this? Oh boy.

To complain about Trump wanting to close the borders to Muslims might seem over the top to some, but we have all this other stuff going on that nobody even knows about. Homeland Security running the business of other agencies in this country, all new hire paperwork yes that means W-2's goes to them.

Its ironic/hilarious that Trump is being denigrated for his "extremist" views by people located in the middle east like Egypt.

America has really become a patsy of the third world that refuse to embrace our culture and only launch criticisms as they stay silent on the radical islamic terrorists and hate preaching mosks.

Seems everyone is going off about Donald Trump claiming he said he wants to keep all Muslims out of the U.S.

What he actually said:
Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.

The last half of the sentence got dropped along the way.

The “government” aka the Obama administration has been repeatedly proven incapable of vetting pretty much anyone. But hey, Obama does not want us to “discriminate” against Islamic Extremist Terrorists.

Which is more dangerous: Donald Trump’s perceived over-reaction or Obama’s actual under-reaction?

Easy. Trump's plan in unconstitutional.

A few other things Trump has called for:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cRly-0wwl_g

In a totally unrelated matter, Hitler called for all Jews to be barred from entering Germany.

That has nothing to do with the question i asked but since you brought it up, since when did the liberals want to start abiding by The Constitution?

Obama's immigration (Amnesty) order is unconstitutional and we don't hear a peep from the left about that one.

You asked which was worse. I answered that Trump's plan was unconstitutional. If you didn't understand that, then you are a moron.

Obama's plan was not unconstitutional, just like Reagan's similar plan was not unconstitutional.

Now, genius, do you see the basic difference on why one is unconstitutional and the other isn't? You won't answer because you are pretty clueless.

You have no clue what Liberals want...... which is very obvious by your thinking that only YOU (or conservatives) care about the constitution. Ever hear of freedom of religion? LOL

Let the media keep on calling Trump a clown and underestimating him. They will have lowered the bar so much that all Trump will have to do is show up at the debates with his pants on correctly and its a win for him to the nomination.
