Nikki Haley officially endorsed Trump. CNN on Tuesday played video of some of her remarks during her Presidential campaign: Trump is "toxic", "unhinged", "unfit to be President" among other things. I HOPE that Biden and Harris are going to use some of this same video, real soon.

This morning ( I usually watch CNN and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt) CNN is saying Biden is hurt, irritated and disappointed many Democrats want him to step aside. But insists he will NOT stop his run.
And Biden issued an executive order a few months ago that has dramatically cut the number of crossings at the border. Hope he can bring that out clearly when he resumes campaigning. And CNN showed ICE rounding up for deportation several asylum seekers who crossed the border in recent months but they are wanted criminals in their own countries. And some who have committed crimes since being given a date to be interviewed for asylum are being deported.
We are a country of immigrants but it turns out many Americans don't like the catch and release policy under Biden which he has apparently stopped in just the last month. We welcome all who want to become Americans but it must be done the right way.
Maybe Joe can turn this around and he claims he has White House polls that show he will beat Trump. CNN has a poll now that shows Trump even with women, gaining on Biden with blacks and Hispanics and way ahead of Biden with men.
Apparently part of the problem is most people think the price of gas, diesel, food, rent etc will return to the low costs we had under Trump before Covid struck. CNN says that is not likely to happen if Trump wins and Trump's poor handling of the Covid outbreak caused the economy to tank worse than it would have if a Democrat were in the White House. So reelecting Trump probably won't restore the much lower price of gasoline, food, rent etc we had under Trump the first time.
Lastly according to CNN, Crooks had been not only checking out when and where Trump was campaigning but Biden too.
Perhaps Crooks was out to shoot both Trump and Biden and Trump was the one who got close to where Crooks lived.
Several people saw him crawling with rifle on the roof too and tried to alert police and one police officer climbed up and stuck his head above the roof line and Crooks pointed his rifle at the officer so he ducked back down. The question is why was Trump allowed to came out and start speaking. And the Secret Service is looking into that now.
Out of control Border, crime and the higher cost of gas, food, rent etc are the top items in this election. CNN said Biden released one million gallons of gasoline from the reserve of the United States to help stabilize gas prices for summer driving.

Robert, I have always given Keith Oberman, MSNBC and Tucker Carlson the same amount of credibility that I would to a drunken crackhead describing a traffic accident from 6 blocks away. If Oberman's claim were to pan out - that would easily be the most evil plot ever cooked up in American politics. Seems like some tall tales to me. Olbermann is pretty smug and insufferable, but at least he means well. Putin-loving Tucker Carlson is an example of how political spectrum is a circle - once you go too far in either direction you end up supporting dictators and abandoning truth. But I agree, I don't listen to the guys editorializing the news for me, regardless of the direction they spin it.
Anyways, Harris has me hopeful again. Had the primaries not been over by the time they got to me in 2020, I would have voted for her then. Her being out of the public eye during the Biden administration might be an advantage - she might be the palette cleanser everyone is looking for.
As for Biden, I think it's pretty commendable of him to set aside his ego for the race. The last two Presidents who chose not to seek reelection, LBJ and Truman, did so due to low popularity at the time. Biden would still have wide party support had it not been for his age and stamina. No one wants to have their car keys taken from them, imagine having to admit you can't have your dream job anymore? But I think it's the most likely way his administration's work can continue.

Agree. Dismantling Trump's rhetoric and lies shouldn't be hard, and Kamala is pretty sharp. I'm hoping she can bring into the fold some people who previously felt disenfranchised by both candidates, maybe that can solidify her position.
I wouldn't be surprised if this decision was made a week ago and the Dems waited until after the RNC was over to announce it. That way the subject, and Kamala, received no national spotlight from the opposition.

It will be interesting to see who Kamala picks for VP. I think the Trump circle thought they carte blanche to pick anyone they wanted when they were squaring off against Biden. Vance didn't really move the needle, and his wildly contradictory stances have been more of a distraction than a boon. Supposedly one of the Trump sons pushed for Vance, and only an ignorant white guy would think another ignorant white guy would make a good running mate for an older ignorant white guy (and do no research into previous statements against their candidate).

I've heard that one recently too and it's pretty gross. Even at his rally to Christians last week Trump emphasized "I'm not a Christian". From what I understand, they believe that no matter your transgressions all you have to do is accept Jesus and ask for forgiveness and you're "in". So why would God save a multi-sinning conman who rejects Christ and not the firefighter in the crowd?

According to a PBS Frontline documentary I just watched on TouTube, Trump suddenly realized just as he took office in 2016 he was the target of a shakedown by the Clintons, some Democrats and key people in the CIA and FBI.
The PBS narrator says Trump grew up in New York City and around New York real estate deals and knew a shakedown when he saw one.
Apparently they were trying to end his Presidency just as he became President. Being a narcissistic paranoid liar and braggart, Trump became convinced his gut feelings and immature imagination was reality and that in part led to him erroneously claiming the 2020 election was rigged.
And he is likely to do it again if he loses against Harris.
Joe Biden did not quit because the Democratic party turned against him post debate. Biden quit when Presidential polling showed Joe he was going to loose in an electoral landslide and Trump would be back in the White House.
Kamala Harris so far is running on abortion rights and making sure every American not only has a decent living but can get ahead. How this will be accomplished is yet to be seen.
What has to happen is Harris having a plan to lower gas, food, rent and other cost of living prices and secure the southern border. Those are the two big ones in poll after poll.
She has moved in the right direction on fracking. Her campaign now says she no longer supports banning fracking and never has supported banning gas cars.
I'm afraid pocket book considerations will decide the upcoming election and a lot of people have the impression gas, food, rent etc were a lot cheaper under Trump. And until the pandemic they were.
This is not the time to run on left wing liberal socialist like issues. There are not enough green new deal types out there to keep Trump out of the White House.

Harris visited Arizona yesterday and assured the voters she will back strong border security but also will push for a pathway to citizenship for illegals who qualify. I assume that would include no criminal record in your home country.
She needs a strong plan to bring down gas prices and the cost of food, rent etc. And it must be better than saying she will move the country over to electric cars. That would take years and many Americans, especially Americans my age, will not drive an electric car. Too much trouble and complexity. Even with a quick charge only good for 80 percent charged, it takes TWO HOURS sitting somewhere between your house and a distance of 400 miles away.
And the cars according to Ford will be very small in order to make them lighter and affordable.
I think a cleaner fuel for internal combustion engines is the answer. Methanol is one I read about. Reduces emissions 80 percent.
I watched all four nights of the Democratic National Convention and I have to say, it was POWERFUL. Kamala Harris' speech last night was dynamic and charismatic and she certainly proved herself in front of the teleprompter. There were many highlights over the last four nights: Tim Walz' powerful speech on Wednesday was one. Also on Wednesday night, I thought one of the more poignant moments of the entire convention was the speech by a staunch Republican, former Georgia Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan. He delivered a message to his Republican cronies, "If you vote for Harris, you are not voting as a Democrat, you are voting as a Patriot." WOW. There were many, many repudiations of Trump over the last four days but that may have been the most powerful. And Duncan wasn't the only Republican to stand up and give Harris their approval. I also loved the fact that early in the evening last night, someone brought to light the fact that Trump defrauded students at his small occupational school, Trump University. Early on in the convention they played video highlights of the horrors of January 6th, 2021. A police officer who was seriously wounded that evening gave a short powerful speech and reminded us that there were multiple deaths resulting from the riot, some of them police officers.
After all this, if Trump gets back in power, I may have to seriously consider moving to Costa Rica.
