Kneeling for the national anthem IS disrespectful. Very little perception required.

Agreed. There are so many other ways to show off your unhappiness with this great nation.

Don't Vote
Burn the Flag
Place the well being of illegal immigrants over Veterans
Call for the banning of guns
"F" the Electoral College
Claim to be a Socialist
Advocate for the forgiveness of all Student debt

That should get you started.

Cool

How come all these folks who think this country is so wonderful are the ones always bellyaching about how screwed up it is?

Scalia wrote the opinion that flag burning is protected speech in 1989 and 1 year later voted against a law making flag burning illegal. My guess is he would say kneeling during the anthem is a legitimate form of free speech. And since Trump has said many times how much he liked Scalia, it looks like me and Richie Rich the stubby fingered, draft dodging, orange tub of lard are on the same side ! Our nation coming together! Or politics makes strange bedfellows.

Let me add to this list:

Praise dictators
Try to silence the free press
Bragging about committing sexual assult
Passing executive orders allowing waterways to be poisoned
Taking away medical insurance from hard working families
Raising taxes on the middle class and giving that money to the wealthy
Shrinking the size of our treasured National Monuments
Protecting foreign governments that kill journalists
Make fun of the disabled
Lie on a daily basis
Obstruct justice
Insult POWs for getting captured

Yup, God bless America!

Pretty silly Nike caved over complaints over the first US flag.

And if Kaepernik was any good some NFL team would put up with his crusading but he is a backup at best and not worth the aggravation apparently

[Edited on 7/3/2019 by Bill_Graham]

It's good ol' free enterprise. Nike made a business decision in what it feels is in its best interest. Personally, I think it's silly what they're doing but they've invested a lot of money to Kapernik.

Not the first time and won't be the last.

I wonder if Colin K. is aware that President Obama used this offensive, racist flag at his inauguration?

OMG. Where does this stop?

As far as I'm concerned, it stops when this ridiculous thread dies. You are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Get over it.

Touche! It is bigoted of me to assume that if I find a topic trivial and inane that it is not of paramount importance to others. My bad.

I guess he had second thoughts and decided he hates America too.

Socks. Unbelievable. I've only myself to blame for slumming on the WP and hearing totally inane trivia that is now taking up what few brain cells that remain.

I've still got that big syringe. Might be able to inject a few new ones for ya. I think i might have a few left in that cow skull I found last week.

Nope, but I can catch one of the opossums for you.

.

I doubt Nike even made the shoe, or more than a pair for the photo - this was staged.

Not according to CBS News. The shoes were already on the shelves and were pulled.

Maybe so, either way I still bet it was a negative publicity stunt by Nike.

You are far from bigoted. To call the Betsy Ross flag racist is nothing but ignorance, pure and simple.

Actually, that's not even the Betsy Ross flag anyway. We never used that flag, so Kaepernick is wrong about everything he thinks that flag represents.

Begin edit: Sorry, got my flag stories mixed up. The number of stars and stripes were increased to 15 each in 1795, not 1780.

Serious question - What is more un-American, not standing up for the anthem or telling American citizens who were born here to go back to where they came from?

"These colors don't run."

Waited 2 days to see if anybody else got it, but seems they didn't. Good turn on words.
