I'm with you on this Vince. No huge mystery why Kaepernick never played another down in the NFL.

Pretty silly Nike caved over complaints over the first US flag.

And if Kaepernik was any good some NFL team would put up with his crusading but he is a backup at best and not worth the aggravation apparently

Wait, so...Nike made a shoe, hadn't distributed it yet, then a guy that Nike has on the payroll didn't like the shoe, so Nike won't distribute it.

Two things here, really:

1. Outrage has become waaaaay too specific.

2. Y'all Kap haters are gettin' played. Again.

The problem I have with this is it goes much deeper than one business making a business decision. This is the result of the democratic party in action today.

How so? Can you be a bit more specific other than advancing a theory?

Both parties seem to be confused on the Flag Issue, President Trump is pushing for a Constitutional Amendment calling for Flag burning to be illegal. And the Left has chosen to follow the new leader of Nike who is offended by the U.S. banner...

Geez

This is the real story, marketing mind-control. My first thoughts as well. Glad to see someone else has their They Live sunglasses on. Nike is a $$$$ colossus, everything by or around their global machine is planned and executed to the tiniest detail. Who knows their marketing might be all AI by now.

I doubt Nike even made the shoe, or more than a pair for the photo - this was staged. Kapaernick seems to have found a niche as a Nike psy-ops agent. Orchestrate pseudo-political controversy, play social trends off each other, keep that cutting edge of hip image going. As in Wow, see how cool Nike is they actually listened when someone complained, aren't they sensitive and wonderful. . . Meanwhile their LGBTQ sneakers are selling like hotcakes in their 8th year of production. See how that works?

You think they give a ratsass what Arizona does with their penny-ante incentives? Now the offers will just be higher elsewhere. This is their third plant in the USA, a huge windfall for any community that gets it. So AZ Gov. Douchey shoots Goodyear AZ in the foot over a Nike marketing ploy. "Played" is exactly right.

Meanwhile New Balance sales suffer because of the opposite image from Nike. How are those New Balance working out for you guys? Pretty fun bouncing on em at the Trump rally? Cool

Yeah sure, Nike is part of the Illuminati so it all makes sense now.

I think some of you are placing too much importance on Kaepernick in your conspiracy theories. In our smart phone addicted twitter society, he is yesterday's news.

I get it, the second you start to mention organized marketing psychology it is "Illuminati Conspiracy".

Wasn't even going to reply in this thread at all, it seemed so trivial. I don't give a crap about Kapaernick, never have, or sports, socks, sneakers, or any of it. But it got me thinking the real story here is how these marketing memes circulate. Every time one of these things comes up on WP it is the first I have heard of it - tells me that a consumer is taking some PR bait and broadcasting.

Kap lives rent free in the minds of the trumpsters.

Just like Hillary does in the orange buffoon's noggin.

Laughable.

Exactly. They're the ones keeping this stuff going. I never heard of any of it, Rapinoe, Kapaernick, any of them or their damn invite refusals or their socks, until it showed up here. And once I hear of it I still don't give a damn. What is interesting is what the hell it is that makes them so concerned. What do they do just surf the web or watch cable until stuff gets them mad then go to chat rooms and argue about it?

Socks. Unbelievable. I've only myself to blame for slumming on the WP and hearing totally inane trivia that is now taking up what few brain cells that remain.

I was joking mate but I think you are overthinking this. Maybe Nike is trying to manipulate the public with this flag issue but I honestly don't think the general public gives two sheets about Kaepernick anymore. With the US public attention span being as short as it is these days, like I said, IMO he is yesterdays, news.

I am a moderate liberal Democrat my friend , if there is such a thing, I could care less about all these controversies.

I also think the hardcore liberals are taking the political correctness angle to the extreme to the point where it stifles our ability to have any real dialog about serious matters for fear of offending anyone.

I respect Kaepernick's right to stand up for what he believes in but in all honesty, I question how genuine he is as opposed to looking out for his own interests and looking for headlines now.

Exactly.

But those who attempt to give him staying power are looking for a whipping boy for racial purposes disguised as some stupid & perceived notion of disrespect for the flag and patriotism.

These are the same people who turn a shoulder to all things Trump when he plays puppet to Putin, sells out our intel agencies, turns on former allies, and is really the epitome of someone who is unpatriotic to this country. Crickets here from them.

No amount of military hardware and abuse of taxpayer money for a partisan, self-aggrandizing,and unprecedented July 4th "me" gathering in DC will ever make Trump seem patriotic. One can see why a hero and true patriot like General Mattis left the Trump Administration.

Trump thinks why not - Putin does it & Trump's BFF KJU does it. If dictators like that do it, why shouldn't a dictator wannabe do it to show his muscle? What would you expect from someone who previously stated he knows more than the generals - a great military mind? The military minded prez want his miltary hardware on display.

What's also cool is that his donors and GOP operatives will be sitting close to him in a reserved seating section as he speaks for this "non-partisian" event.

Costs:

https://www.newsweek.com/how-much-will-trump-fourth-july-parade-cost-1447342

"millions have already been diverted from other federal agencies in order to cover the expenses."

I am on the left and could not give a flying f about these shoes or Kaepernick or what athletes do or don't go to the WH or whatever the latest outrage your simple self is worked up about. I already don't wear Nike. But maybe don't worry about all this stupid crap so much and go try and get another autograph.

More on this - As Trump (Vietnam draft dodger) gears up for the "me" moment and abuse of taxpayer funds, keep in mind the following:

"Trump still owes D.C. $7 million in inauguration costs as he plans July Fourth gala"

The ironic thing is that for all those making this a huge issue, how many would have bought those shoes?

If they suddenly decided to release this shoe, all of a sudden the conservatives would rush to buy it to make a point. Never mind that the flag code states that the US flag shouldn't be worn on clothing. No amount of money could buy this much publicity. Nike knows what they are doing.

If you believe this to be true, you have serious issues. Kneeling for the national anthem IS disrespectful. Very little perception required.

Kneeling for the national anthem is disrespectful because you say so? So your opinion is greater than anyone else's opinion who disagrees with you? And just for the record, I would not kneel but respect anyone's right to do that. I'm guessing those that disagree with your personal points of view have serious issues? Those that agree with you don't have serious issues?

Looking forward to those 6 more years of patriot Don.
