Way too long and grim.

Obviously the current presidential term.

But tell us how you really feel sixty8! We'll count you among those in the chamber not standing to clap.

LOL! Sorry if I get carried away folks but being a NYer I had had enough of this phony con man long before he ran for POTUS. His reputation as a dishonest and corrupt grifter with no moral compass has been built up over decades. I still can't believe he got elected even against such a weak and compromised opponent. If the Dems don't nominate the right kind of candidate to beat this jerk wad and get rid of him and he gets re elected I will never forgive them or vote for their party ever again. I am and always have been a registered Independent and have no problem voting for either side depending on candidate but for the love of God we have got to do everything possible to make sure this crazy self serving maniac only serves one term. If he gets two terms the damage he will end up doing might never be fixable.

Sixty8, I agree with your assessment of the clown in the White House, but people like Trump have always existed and will always exist. It’s not the trash in the White House....it’s the people that decided to willfully elect trash.....willfully putting the country at risk....willfully siding with Russian attacks on the United States, willfully accepting the comments in Helsinki, and the list goes on.

All the right-wing members here openly confessed they chose Trump because liberals name-called them. KCJimmy shared that letter about it, detailing that people voted for Trump, not for politics, but because of the condemnation they received from liberals. Can you imagine? Because they were name-called, because Obama had class, honor, integrity, and character, they got insecure, and decided to elect a known Russian asset and threaten our National Security, because they needed spite. Ponder that for a moment.

No need to apologize, Sixty....Many of us, especially those of us from New York who've known of his con man's history and reputation long before he ran for president, share your thoughts and opinions.

For the life of me I can't believe how anyone can't see through this guy for what he really is. The corruption and ineptness of Trump, his family, the pundits, and obviously much of the Republican Congress and his other enablers in government is pretty astounding.

Chain, I think they do see through it....they just don’t mind the corruption and lies, because he insults minorities and those that want to help them (the “Dems”).

Maybe a portion see through the con guy and at the same time a portion don't. Ever engage his supporters on any depth or details about issues? If they can't articulate substance, then there's the proof. Look no further than this site.

Trump will sign the deal that Congress came up with, but he is still declaring a National Emergency.

By now you know he did declare a National Emergency. Doing so enables him to tap into money he otherwise would not have access to without Congressional approval.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trumps-raid-on-pentagon-funds-draws-bipartisan-hill-fire/ar-BBTEhDs

In all, the White House is directing $8 billion toward building or repairing up to 234 miles of border barriers. On top of the $1.37 billion for barriers allocated in spending legislation passed Thursday, Trump is aiming to divert $3.6 billion in military construction funds and $2.5 billion from a Pentagon drug interdiction program as well as $600 million from a Treasury Department drug forfeiture fund.

Part of the response from House Speaker Pelosi:

“It is yet another demonstration of President Trump’s naked contempt for the rule of law,”

Remarks: "Naked contempt?" Me thinks the lady doth protest too much. Why does she bring up the word "naked", does she have secret longings for the President? She could have said "bold" or "obvious" but NAKED. Oh whippin' post!

Well he is a great businessman, you have to admit that. He figured out how to get the money he needed in total for the wall. Of course they will not just let him do that without a fight. They deny there is a crisis, the 45,000+ people who have illegally crossed the border and are being held in custody in Democratic minds pose no threat to American security, we can just have people breach our borders any ole time, that's okay with them.

And a suggestion From an Associated Press Reporter - With the conviction of Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, for trafficking etc. across the Mexican border, why not try to use some of that to pay for the wall that the Democrats think we do not need.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/el-chapo-pay-border-wall-dont-count-151700721.html

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas promises to reintroduce a bill named after El Chapo that would require money seized from Mexican cartels be dedicated to a border security. "There's a natural and elegant symmetry that suggested itself," Cruz said. "Those billions that El Chapo has were made trafficking illegally across the U.S. border, bringing narcotics across the border, and it is only right that those ill-gotten gains go to fixing the problem of stopping the next narco-trafficker.

The oppositional border wall obstructionists are already at it.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-introduce-bill-175200792.html

“The order is signed,” the president declared on Friday. “We will have a national emergency and we will then be sued, and they will sue us in the 9th Circuit, even though it shouldn’t be there, and we will possibly get a bad ruling and then we’ll get another bad ruling and then we’ll end up in the Supreme Court.”

He knows they will continue, but so will he. And remember he appointed some judges to the Supreme Court.

When Trump stated "I didn't need to do this," that is an admission that this wasn't an emergency.

Congress can still vote to block the Emergency. They have to do it within 15 days.

Democratic House members have already pushed to introduce a resolution to disapprove of the president's action. If the Democratic-held House passes such a measure, the GOP-controlled Senate would have to take it up by law, putting pressure on Republican senators. Trump could also veto it, which would require a two-thirds majority in both chambers to overcome. With McConnell supporting the emergency declaration and Republicans holding 53 of 100 Senate seats, it is unclear whether lawmakers could block it.

Rep. Mark Meadows, a North Carolina Republican and another Trump confidant, argued Congress would lack the votes to override the president's veto. "Given Congress will try to block this executive action, I'm seeing speculation Congress could override a POTUS veto w/ GOP votes. They will not. The votes will not be there," he tweeted.

Trump seemed prepared for a long fight Friday. "I expect to be sued" over the declaration, he said.
He argued that he had the authority to take the step, and thinks he will ultimately prevail in the Supreme Court. "I think we will be very successful in court," he said.

The State of the Union continues to be in bizarro-land. Today, the Democrats decided to launch a resolution to STOP the official declaration of the National Emergency along the border that Trump has declared.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-congress/democrats-launch-resolution-to-stop-trump-border-emergency-idUSKCN1QB1U1

"Pelosi predicted the resolution would pass the Democratic-controlled House. Action would then move to the Republican-majority Senate, where the measure’s future is less clear.

In any case, Trump vowed on Friday to veto the measure if it passes both chambers and gets to his desk. Congress would then have to muster the two-thirds majority necessary - a very high hurdle - to override his veto in order for the measure to take effect."

COMMENT: They are just trying to grab our President by the short-hairs, but that's not even all that is going on.

Back from the Bush administration:

"Richard Painter, who served as George W Bush’s ethics lawyer between 2005 and 2007, told cable network Msnbc Mr Trump’s national emergency declaration over illegal immigration was “clearly illegal” and the product of the president’s state of mind.

Mr Painter, vice-chair of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, which filed a lawsuit against the declaration hours after its announcement, cited Mr Trump’s belief of Vladimir Putin over US intelligence officials as evidence of his irrationality.

“He is not capable of doing the job. He does need to be removed under the 25th amendment, but he stocked his cabinet with people who are unwilling to do that, and Congress is apparently unwilling to even try to remove him through impeachment,” Mr Painter said.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-25th-amendment-remove-president-us-border-national-emergency-richard-painter-a8785911.html

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2017/02/21/democratic-rep-floats-idea-of-using-25th-amendment-to-remove-trump-from-office-n2288591

One such Democrat is Congresswoman Jackie Speier, who recently said that if Trump doesn’t start “[acting] presidential,” the 25th Amendment could come into play.

She’s not alone in her call to use the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. Last week Democratic Rep. Earl Blumenauer announced he’s creating "a working group to clarify and strengthen the 25th Amendment,” noting the “erratic behavior out of the White House.”

REMARKS: It is unprecedented to have so many Congressional people doing any and everything they can to oust a sitting President. It is just unbelievable, but it is happening!
