Slow down? Check your computers

Does anybody else notice that around 8:15 pm this site gets really s-l-o-w? Done it all this week.

I'm streaming Dead & Company from nugs.tv on my new smart tv and running the sound through my surround sound system. Hope that's not slowing everybody down........ 😛

I just throw another hamster on the wheel, seems to do the trick.

today my computer started acting funny again. Went to run my A/V It wasn't there.
Downloaded the new updates and tried to run them. No dice. Uninstalled and reloaded. Didn't work.
Uninstalled again and downloaded Kaspersky Cloud. would not install, kept saying Windows installer is installing a program. Please wait.
Re-booted and downloaded files again. Same thing.
Checked services, Win Installer wasn't running.
Deleted previous downloads and started again. Same thing.
Rebooted in safe mode, deleted old files and downloaded again.
Install complete, ran deep scan for the next 2 hours.
Rebooted back in normal mode, ran scan again. This one only took 45 minutes.
Neither scan found anything.
Ran SuperAntiSpyware and again, nothing was found.
gonna keep an eye out for a while.
Note: The slow down and other problems happened after I had responded to a PM from an old poster who hasn't been on line for a while.
Maybe someone is hacking into the system again.

I'm the only member online right now and the site is a bit slower.
Maybe it's just the heat. 😛

There's myself and one other on now. It takes about 15 seconds to go from thread to thread. Slower than I've seen it this week.
11:05pm eastern It's starting to speed up a little.

I have not noticed but I just drop by and am not lingering much right now. Could it be internet usage and demand from other customers in your area that is slowing your speeds down?

Didn't have issues with other websites, just HTW. Seems to start going slow at 8pm and speeds back up around 11pm.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I doubt anyone is trying to hack HTN. If you notice the site slowing down, it could just be HTN's hosting company's traffic. Sometimes data gets redistributed during peak hours.
If it's your machine, antivirus software can often slow down a computer, especially the more aggressive your settings. Sending a PM shouldn't put your security at risk unless you are on an unsecure network.
Computers can slow down if storage gets full, always a good idea to clean up files and move unused data to an external drive. Music and Video files can clog up a computer very quickly, especially if iour machine doesn't have much RAM or an old graphics card.

Music and video files on a 1.5 TB external drive only plugged in when i want to watch or listen.
What is amazing is my anti-virus was missing, and I had problems loading it back in. Kept telling me "Windows installer is installing another program", which I wasn't trying to do.
Had to re-boot in safe mode to get one to install. Had even turned off Installer and turned back on.
Use Ccleaner to get rid of dead files, Auslogics Defragger to join up files scattered across the hard drive,
had Avira, which disappeared,
Eight core processor, 16 gigs RAM, VPN, discreet sound card, and my video card possibly cost more than a lot of the computers used by posters.
I've been building, servicing, repairing, and programming computers since 1972. I do thank you for your help.
