How about electing Mayors, City Council, state congress. school superintendents, & other local offices that have sensible policies to deal with these things. Rudy Guiliani made a huge difference in New York only to see it deteriorate under the Dems that Followed. It is not a coincidence that cities with the worst crime & homelessness problems (Chicago, New York, Baltimore, SanFran.....) have been under liberal leadership for a very long time. Keep trying the same liberal policies and expecting a different outcome....... equals insanity.

Sorry that you didn't understand that Congress is the local elected officials in the federal government. Congressional Representatives are voted in every 2 years while the Senate is voted in every 6 years. congressmen serve population districts while Senators serve for half of each state.

Sheila Dixon: indited on 12 felony and misdemeanor charges (one bad one was misappropriation of funds, gift cards for poor people).

The lack of success by the Democrats on this issue might require some attention by Republicans, but it is not the responsibility of the Feds. THAT is why cities elect people to represent them at the LOCAL level. If that fails it is on the local branches of Gubmint, not the Feds.
