Every cloud has a silver lining, especially in the Summer Camp industry. Immigrants are the golden goose for companies like GEO (formerly Wackenhut). I would change my company name to GEO too, wouldn't want folks knowing what we are doing in our hut.

For-profit prisons are probably the most soulless creation of capitalism.

Our mass-incarceration system is deplorable.

Not only "For-profit' but subsidized by taxpayer $$$, and are accountable to NOBODY. Just think what kinds of wonderful things YOUR money could be doing in there, beyond the reach of public oversight and control !!!

Whoo-hoo ! Bring em on, illegal border crossing is an economic boom!

https://www.newsweek.com/geo-group-private-prisons-immigration-detention-trump-596505

Yessir! Feeding frenzy for private prison $$$$, immigrants are manna from heaven for this sector of the economy that Trump has ressurected! Big fat PAC donations to Trump from the private prison industry = revival of the industry which was getting phased out because of poor conditions, and which is now getting hundreds of millions in contracts to build concentration camps.

Follow the Super PAC road

To the tune of Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Man this is great! I am kinda overexcited, if you need me I will be in the Wackenhut, knock first please.

On a related note, I heard a very enlightening discussion on "Fresh Air" today with Garrett Graff, the author of a recent piece in Politico about the Customs and Border Patrol agency entitled: "The Border Patrol Hits a Breaking Point" about just how corrupt, dysfunctional, and large in terms of numbers and funding this federal agency actually is.

It's size in personnel and funding is now larger than the FBI, ATF, Secret Service, Coast Guard and New York City Police Dept. COMBINED.....It's the largest law enforcement branch in the entire federal dept. of Homeland Security.

Also mentioned in the discussion is how completely out of its element and purpose it is to deal with the humanitarian crisis it's charged with. This dept. and the people recruited to join it were created to guard the border from terrorists and drug dealers immediately following 911. Their training and highly militarized equipment is toward that end and not as humanitarians, social workers, administrators....

Also discussed briefly is the amount of profit being made by private security agencies that have little if any public oversight. Anyway, a very informative article and discussion...Check it out:

Your wall will never be built for numerous reasons we've discussed over and over in here....Besides that a wall doesn't begin to address the crisis itself as people seeking asylum are still coming into legal points of entree in record numbers...Trump's boondoggle idea does nothing to curb this fact.

X2

But remember that "build the wall" and "who's going to pay for it" are campaign slogans. Never was going to happen. This going to be dusted off and reused? Familiarity trumps failure for followers.

If the contractors lose their immigrant detainees, they'll just demand more poor Americans to fill the cells away from the border. They'll get their tax money one way or another. Surely there is a hell and surely the profiteers of incarceration will go there.
