So on day 1 President Trump and his press secretary lie with impunity and special advisor Conway defends them by introducing the concept of "alternative facts". That's so awesome. And to top it off, it's all about something that really doesn't matter to anyone except Trump and his ego and his mindless supporters. We're off to a great start!

It was a major distraction from talking about the marches yesterday. For good measure Conway also threw out Trump will not release his taxes. This had to strategic as no one is really clamoring for them right now.

I'm sure they are defensive about more people attending the woman's march than the inauguration.

Is there an official statistician of sorts that estimates crowd size? I know the article link said "crowd experts told the NY Times" it was 200,000. The estimate leading up to Friday had been 900,000.

But either way, they shouldn't feel the need to be so defensive comparing Friday to the first Obama term. Obama's election was historic and he almost had more of a rock star feel to him than a politician. They really shouldn't be so focused on that.

I think you got it perfect in your first line when you used the term "defensive". That seems to be standard operating procedure for Trump. Other terms that come to mind include thin-skinned, confrontational, blame others, and deflective.

The term used this A.M. on the interview with Conway by Chuck Todd, "alternate facts" was laughable. She came off as a "horribly defensive" interview.

If the way they have operated in the first few days is any indication of things to come (Trump, Spicer, Conway), it would seem they will eventually spiral out of control.
