New Covid strain now in North America

Ontario couple with no known travel history, exposure to Covid-19 patients, or high-risk contact are the first known infections of the new Covid-19 strain from Great Britain. This has a greater chance of infection (40 to 70% more contagious) than the original Covid-19 strain.
Scientists are not sure if the two vaccines available work on this new variant.

It is commonly believed that pandemics have three distinct "waves" with different variants or mutations of the virus and it takes about 18 months for the three "waves" to diminish.
One big spoiler is that it is now known that almost every major strain of flu in the 20th century, and through today, is a variant of the 1918 "Spanish Flu" (New England Journal of Medicine)

So that we now have the possible "second wave" coming through, it's time for mask wearing to become the actual legal norm. Those out in public without masks are a health hazard to you. Hand washing and sanitizer stations near gas pumps and anywhere people handle pumps, coffee dispensers, door handles, railings, basically if more than one person places their hands on it, it needs to be kept wiped down.
One big question is Will the virus mutate faster than "population immunity" can fight it? Will it change fast enough that immunity from one variant will not protect you from the next variant?
IT'S TIME TO FOLLOW WHAT WORKS. Masks, washing exposed areas that have made contact with others (even elbow bumps), sanitizer, spray down areas with disinfectant, and yes, a mild solution of bleach to water works, even spraying the solution into central air returns can help. Doing the social distancing, while wearing masks in public, helps.
Not trying to scare anyone, but it's better to be some scared of the situation than to just go about blissfully nonchalant of what is out there.

Now? It's not 'new' it was first discovered and reported back in September of 2020 and it's probably been here since then or before then. But the mutation is less lethal and does not last as long. I know two people who had it, and the one does not have the best immune system due to chemotherapy and how his cancer went into remission, and his wife has asthma and they both said how they just felt tired for three days, or as though they had a very minor cold. It was not so bad that they had to go to see a doctor, go to a hospital, etc.
Other friends have had it and the one did not even know he had it until he was tested for it.

I have read there are 24 mutant strains. Covid is not going away anytime soon. NY in its paranoia introduced legislation in both the State Assembly and State Senate they vote tomorrow for the legal right to seize and incarcerate people in medical facilities for suspicion of passing on covid to others and being able to vaccinate you against your will.
Senate and Assembly Bill's 416. The same number for both bills.
What the hell they can just drag people off to medical FEMA camps to protect public health safety. This is what it has come to.
If somebody had Covid and was refusing to quarantine themselves that is one thing but this legislation says suspicion of having been exposed.

That’s what I mean - if they approve that, that’s martial law & the beginnings of unrest that could spread as fast as the covid strains
The country is ripe for self inflicted disaster - federally-ordered martial law based on a national medical emergency, & to quell violence, is veering toward tyranny
If you get a flu shot does that lessen your chances of catching the virus
If you got a flu shot but also wanted the covid vaccine, would your name be put at the bottom of the priority list as low risk b/c you already had a flu shot
No one knows if the two medications are compatible in one’s body
Yeah Joe’s coming into a real shitshow it looks like to me
