My thoughts-President Elect-Trump

A job that the Democrats might want to learn to embrace: cyber security.
You really have to be stupid to have your emails hacked like the left did in this campaign. Hard to believe what they actually wrote in emails on unsecure systems.
To make it worse instead of admitting they are IT ignorant, they tried to blame Russia. They have zero proof but created their own lie to try and blame Donald Trump.
Just may want to slow down a minute. Who knows what kind of emails "they" may have from the Trump campaign that could be used against him or come out at an inopportune time. Everyone focuses on the fact that they only went after Clinton, well....what if they went after Trump too and just haven't showed their hand yet? And really there is no need to gloat on this issue anyway.

there arent any scandalous President-Elect Trump emails. not everyone is as CROOKED as Hillary.

A Russian Deputy Minister admitted today that they had contact with the Trump campaign this fall. Putin called Trump to congratulate him. Russians are celebrating Trump's election.
I am assuming this "they" is not the Russians.

Goob,
How can you make a statement that you have no knowledge of? Are you privy to Trump e-mails? Please present your facts. Based upon Trump's crooked past, I'm just guessing there are 1000's of scandalous e-mails. E-mails pop up just like Billy Bush tapes. You never know what Donald's pal, Putin is sitting on.
For a start, who knows what may show up at the soon to be Trump University trial.
Hope Trump University doesn't get barred from any of the upcoming bowl games. Go Trump U 😛

Sorry I've been busy and not keeping up - just wanted to point out, nebish that the $68 was per check, so it was really $136 a month (24 checks). Not disagreeing with anything you said.....

I just opened yesterday's mail and I have a new statement for my individual health insurance policy and the new premium is $146.47. So I went back to look at the exact premiums the last few years...the prior 12 months it was $120.23. 2014 it was $95.33. 2013 it was $78.26. 2012 it was $60.06 2011 it was $53.32. $50-60 a month is pretty damn affordable right?
$136 for a presumed healthy young adult does not sound very good price, especially since it is part of a family group rather than an individual plan. 5 years ago I was 37 and paying $53.32 for a $5000 deductible plan (and not one of those "junk" plans).
Insurance company premiums increased annually before Obamacare. Insurance premiums increasing annually under ACA is nothing new. But I don't see how ACA is making things more affordable on a net basis for people. All it is doing is providing subsidies to some people so they can have health insurance while coverage gets less affordable for everyone else.
Again, I'm thankful that I still have this plan. I would not be able to buy this plan today if I switched insurers. Like I said new enrollment ACA plans would cost me $200-300 a month, I should get a new quote.
I guess $136 compared to $200-300 your kids may otherwise be paying is a bargain, but really, in a short period of time it appears that the plans available to your kids have doubled in cost using what I was paying as an example. Not more affordable. Maybe more affordable for them if you are covering their cost, but net, not more affordable...more expensive.
I picked up a pizza last night (you know how much I love pizza!) at our favorite mom & pop shop and we talked briefly about the election. He said he voted for Trump and said "health insurance is killing us". It's just him and his wife that run the business with no other employees. It's better for some now, but it clearly is worse for others. Will be interesting to see what it gets replaced with.
Edit - I live in Ohio, maybe living in Chicago with all that pizza and Italian beef sandwiches has a negative effect on one's health and leads to higher insurance cost!

Welcome to the middle class (per Obama SOTU address, 2016)

Even if we get all these auto jobs and other manufacturing jobs back these places won't need as many employees to run them as they did in the past. Technology has made a lot of jobs that used to be around unnecessary. That right there is the biggest reason we have less manufacturing jobs today.
Nobody on the campaign mentioned that. The promises are that manufacturing will be what it once was and I don't think it will happen. Good thing there are other types of employment if you have the skills that pay as much and in some cases more. My girlfriend doesn't have a college education but works in a call center and makes more an hour than I do.
Exactly. The President can't just magically return these specific jobs to our shores. That's not how it works. It's up to communities to reinvent their economies, find new opportunities. Just look at Pittsburgh - it's not a steel city anymore. Same thing in Rochester. Detroit is slowly figuring this out as well.
I don't disagree with the of IPowrie's post. Robotics on the assembly line killed just as many jobs as anything else. But my reply is "who is building the robots"...we too can build all the machines and computer systems that go into the assembly line as well.
I talk mostly about manufacturing because we are talking about large facilities that take alot of material and labor to build first and foremost leading to alot of construction jobs...even if temporary. Then, even if we are not talking about the number of workers employed there like there once were you are still talking about a couple to a few thousand jobs to run the plant and build the cars.
And having a car plant nearby leads to alot of spinoff jobs that themselves are not manufacturing jobs, some support the plant with components and others support the plant with white collar jobs as well. I think having a large employment center such as an manufacturing or assembly plant in a town really can drive local and state economies..and positively impact national economy as well.
Now on the second post from Bob, I will never be confused with a trade lawyer LOL, and there is no magic wand of course, but I think a President could work to change some aspects of auto importation within existing trade law while negotiating with individual nations or companies. Regan did this in the early 1980s with the Japanese. The goal should be to incentivize these companies to build more here, invest more here. I'm thankful for the people and community that has the Kia plant in Georgia or any number of foreign auto plants here in the USA. But too many of them only produce a couple models here while importing the large majority of their models from other countries.
I remain optimistic that we might get some changes in trade law that candidate Trump (or Sanders for that matter) spoke of. Which could lead to more jobs here..."big league". Funny for a long time I thought he was actually saying "bigly".
Yes we can build the robotics and computer systems for manufacturing. I just think those jobs will require more than a high school education to do.

Nothing is free. We've collectively agreed to pay for street light, stop signs and paved streets....yet we'd rather give our money to an insurance company...in reality and investment company....who in turn uses that money we give them to make investments while stifling doctors from giving procedures.
Why should we make healthcare Universal...because its the right thing to do. We invest into each other...we support each other and no-one goes bankrupt when they get cancer.....our #1 reason in this country for bankruptcy is people getting terminal illness and they can't pay for the treatment. Nice system huh??
Why do we want Universal education through college...again so we can have educated kids who aren't in debt for hundreds of thousands of dollars
See in this country we vote for our own personal interest instead of voting for those who struggle....
I'm a liberal democrat....I want a strong military.....I want all you scared people who want to own guns to have that right....makes you feel empowered...LOL....
I've never lived off any government assistance I work for myself and I own my own home....I'm more than solvent....so I vote for those who don't have what I do because if they live better so do I....less crime....better educated and healthy people
See we are so selfish we can't see how having these basic human rights taken care of will make our country stronger

Great to see anti-establishment Trump fill his transition team with corporate lobbyists. Didn't take long for his promise to get corporate influence out of government to be broken.
