My brother-in-law is out of-

The Covid-19 ICU ward. On regular oxygen, off the high pressure stuff, still getting the anti-bodies and covid meds.

That's rough, Jerry, glad to hear he's out of the ICU. Hope he makes a fast full recovery.
Be well.

Sorry to hear that he got sick
Glad he is improving
Vibes

Good news. Must be a relief for your entire family.

Good shit.
My wife, for the first time since covid hit, isnt treating any covid patients. I really hope it lasts, it’s super stressful knowing she was seeing them every day.

Right now waiting on test results on my son and daughter.
My son works at the lab with my brother-in-law, my daughter was sent home from her job at the mental health facility because she had a lot of Covid symptoms.
Not too worried about my daughter since she goes through something like this every August since she was a kid.
Dry weather, dust, lots of grasses going to seed.
Appreciate the concern and thanks for the support.

Glad to hear he is making progress.
My sister was released from the hospital yesterday. She was in the hospital for 11 days with Coronavirus. My brother-in-law got it too, but he didn't need to be admitted to the hospital and was quarantined at home. Both rarely left home and always wore masks while outside. They live in an apartment and think they might have been exposed without even leaving their apartment.

I live in a semi-rural area. With the dry air and dust in the air I've been running the humidifier.
I decided to put a tablespoon of bleach at each fill up and leave it on 24/7.
The wife and I have started breathing a little better, and it don't hurt to put in that extra precaution.

Other than your son and daughter being tested, has any other family members who have been in contact with him been tested? It has always puzzled me how some stories of a husband getting it and the wife doesn't or a family has a dinner and everyone gets it. Just weird how it spreads sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.

Hope he recovers with no more issues.

Everybody at the lab (they make crowns , bridgework, and gold teeth) is being tested, and his wife.
One daughter is a ICU nurse at Cancer Centers in Atlanta, the other is an author (www.colbymarshall.com ), both are being tested.
Since both our parents lived through the 1918 pandemic, and we learned from the stories told, all of us have pretty much limited contact with the families and others except for work and necessary outings.

I could tell in your posts early on that you were taking the virus seriously, hopefully that approach limits any exposure for the rest of your family.

This stuff reportedly keeps mold etc out of the air naturally. It cleans the air.
I'm glad he is doing better. I need a humidifier in the months with low humidity or I wake up choking. I don't wake up to 5 star hotel triple filtered air unfortunately. Just living those 'lifestyles of the not so rich and famous'...
Hang in there Jerry.

Thanks Gina, I'll have to look into that.
Good news/bad news. Good news, he came home today but will have drive by nursing for a while untill he shows clean.
Bad news, my sons test came back positive, good news is that he feels better than when he took the test and his cough is not as bad.
Still waiting on the other shoe to drop about my daughter.

Glad to hear he is making progress.

Sorry I didn't respond earlier 2112, how is she doing? I also hope no long lasting results come out of it.

My 63 year old BIL died last week.
The ONLY thing he tested positive for was pneumonia.
Doctors knew there was an infection somewhere but scans didn't find it.
His obit said complications from leukemia but he had supposedly beaten that in the last year.

Sorry to hear about your family loss Ron.

My daughters' test came back today as positive. Might be a problem with her allergies. Good thing is that both kids have Type O blood and the consensus is that patients with Type O have less complications and get through a lot easier.

I'm type O+ and I believe my kids are all O as well.
Both daughters have tested positive for antibodies but only one had any illness and that was a nasty cold in December that lasted most of the month.
EMT son has tested negative every time.

That's always something good to hear. My BIL has A, Angie and I are O+ (she is the only one in her family with O+).
Have they been asked to give plasma for the vaccine tests.
I guess I'll go in for my test on Monday.

Good luck Jerry. All the best for your family.
One of my dad's uncles caught the 1918 pandemic in 1919. Several at the plant in which they worked did. Dad's uncle passed in 1919 at age 48. Many at that silk mill passed away. My dad was only 8 in 2919 but remembered the funeral. 650,000 in America died and 50 million worldwide. Not much medical science had up their sleeve in 1919. Ironically the pandemic faded out in 1920. I think it was a flu virus that originated in Spain. Covid 19 is different. The hot weather didn't affect it much though they said it likes colder weather better. Hope there is a vaccine before it gets cold.
I went shopping today and two people were in the grocery store with no masks but the sign said masks required. But the ones that bugged me and I see them everyday...are all the people who have a mask but it doesn't cover their nose!!!! They drop it down below their nose which makes the mask ineffective doesn't it?. Guess they don't like having their nose covered.

The reason it was called the "Spanish Flu" is because Spain didn't put a gag order on reporting the disease.
President Wilson didn't want the public to know it was spreading like wildfire in the recruitment camps. He wouldn't allow reporters or local health departments tell the public how dangerous it was.
Look at the date it was written, the concerns about a new pandemic, and the "preventative measures" recommended.
