She is as dumb as a box or rocks

This reminds of the incident that happened to my wife and I recently. My hsipanic wife of color, who is 115 pounds, was ridiculed by someone we know....called her dumb to her face because she didn't know something, and said she fit the black stereotype perfectly. He thought he was a tough guy until I said, "I'd like to see you say that in front her brother." Needless to say, he said nothing after that. He was exposed for the coward that he is. Same situation here.

I repeat, dumb as a box of rocks

Challenge: describe why you think she is "dumb".

Remember, policy disagreement doesn't make someone not smart. It has to be a tangible example, like, thinking raking leaves curbs massive wild fires.

That young lady is so much smarter than you it is not even funny. I will admit I am not setting the bar very high for her with a comparison to you but.

I'm guessing in reading this that you know the Congresswoman personally? You and I have not had coffee in quite some time, How have you been?

Let us think. She is 29 and in the House. You? Well I wonder how much time she spends wetting her pants because she got some real musician to sign her guitar. As I said she is way smarter than you. We have what 14 years of you posting your thoughts?

You don't have to say it as I'll say it for you. Yes she is smarter than I am as well.

. . .raking leaves curbs massive wild fires.

I get your point but this is a bad example, this is pretty much what wildland firefighters do, dig line, clear brush, leaves, sticks, whatever, from fire advance to deprive it of fuel. When private homeowners kept their grounds clear it really helps out.

There is a massive amount of work that goes into forest fire prevention - controlled burning, massive brush removal, earth moving. It's much more than "raking" it like's it the grounds of Mar-a-Lago, which is what Trump said. Let's not put words in his mouth.

You obviously have no clue as to her education.

I am well aware of the fact that she is a College Graduate. So is The President. That in itself does not guarantee intellect or the ability to formulate cognitive thought.

I doubt your resume even comes close, I know mine doesn't.

Surely you spent some time as a Bartender.

I repeat, dumb as a box of rocks

I spent years as a bartender, what kinda arrogant comment is that? Now I have a job that requires a ton of educated skill. So, any bartender is dumb as a box of rocks?

I tended bar for ten years in Houston.

Was bar manager/head bartender at the largest live rock club in Houston.

I was 23 years old when I started as head bartender after working in some of the finest restaurants in the city.

None of the national touring musicians I dealt with ever questioned my intelligence when I handled their comp drinks or dressing room alcohol, including Gregg Allman.

Another fail from "big" v.

hold on - sorry pops, just recalled the dumbass Trump "raking" thing. That was what you were saying, yes I agree, silly. My comment was just an idle broadbrush comment like saying rocknroll is kids banging pots and pans, or Apollo missions are basically fireworks, cutting line all day is basically frantic landscaping. Your allusion was apt, flew right over my head, nevermind.

Yes. A dumb person would not succeed at being elected to such a position. Think about how complex and difficult it is to obtain a position like that, and actually do the job well. Why do you think it’s easy?

No one here has questioned your intelligence, that is your own insecurity shining through. I did however and will continue to question the mental agility of Ms. OAC. I did also make it quite clear in a post above where I wrote:

"Not "any Bartender"...Just this one"

Why would anyone here take that...personally?

Bartending, I understand is a difficult and challenging job. The ability to solve problems, keep your cool, manage people who may not be the best at handling alcohol, handling money, trust, memorizing menus, knowing the drink list, for whom to "Over pour", who are the Owner's friends?, who are the VIPs? Can you communicate with the Kitchen?..The Doorman?, The waitstaff-Cocktail waitresses? Does your drawer balance at the end of your shift?...Are you trusted with keys? Are you responsible for PC? Do you like people? The list goes on. Do these things qualify you at 29 to be a Congresswoman? I mean if this is on your resume, what kind of political experience does this address? If this is all one needs to be elected to Congress, then we all have a huge problem ahead of us.

And I agree, this has little to do with what she believes, but more to how she delivers the message. To me? She comes across very much like a 14 year old little girl who finds herself in the position of needing to explain ideals she has zero understanding of. I repeat, I do not think she is very bright, My Vote, My view, cast your ballot as you wish.

Using that logic, President Trump is a genius. And she hasn't done anything "well" yet.
We had a guy in the '70's I think, Ed Beard, get elected to Congress. He was a house painter, used his paint brush as his campaign prop (much like Homer Stokely? in "O Brother Where Art Thou") The guy was as dumb as a stump.

Heh heh...yeah, I thought of that. It's in no way a reflection on someone's occupation ( I knew a Brown graduate who was a landscaper, I know, I hired him) just that being an elected official doesn't equate to intelligence. Heck, look at Nancy Pelosi. Has she ever said one intelligent thing? I can immediately think of three more qualified people right here at this website. I guarantee it.

So it's the higher voice? Or do you have an example of an issue that you think she doesn't understand? We know you don't like female politicians (unless they are jurists appointed by a man), and calling them "dumb" does make it easier for some men to dismiss them. Just want to be clear here.

Yes, I do think Trump is a genius....an evil one, but a genius. His ability to manipulate language to insinuate subtle messages is extraordinary. He knew he could win by tapping into the far right ideologies that no Republican would have dared to do.

Using one’s prior occupation as a measure of intelligence is idiotic. Sure, you can wig out on her high pitch voice, but again, means nothing about intelligence.

It’s hilarious to see the right’s fear and insecurities about AOC. “Her voice”, “she’s dumb”.....yet not one explanation about why, other than using her past occupation.

Porkchopbob issues a challenge, and so far, we have yet to hear a response. Speaks volumes about the absurdity of the accusation.

How asinine. I’m indifferent to Pelosi, but to say that a dumb person can be the Speaker of the House is, well, dumb. It’s more than ok to say you disagree, or you don’t like her, but to go after intelligence is just nonsense.

I don't think being smart or previous occupation have a thing to do with being a successful LEGISLATOR or PRESIDENT. I make a distinction between someone who attempts to/actually accomplishes their job as opposed to being electable & following the party leader.

Jimmy Carter was probably the most intelligent of modern presidents yet the historical consensus is that he sucked as president.

I've zero interest in the 2020 race right now beyond hoping the eventual nominees are <70 & have knowledge of/respect for democracy and the constitution.

You set your bar lower than mine. That's cool. So did the people who voted for her. That's cool too. It's their right. I happen to think she's an idiot, regardless of how you feel. A great politician, says all the right things, very reactionary... but an idiot.

Wasn't there only about a 12% voter turnout when she beat Crowely? Her upset win which wasn't that close was impressive ,but one might think she could've inspired a larger turnout perhaps? Maybe not. I think now that she is out there and a national figure she is going to be reelected quite easily by her constituents as long as she desires to run for office. And for her detractors, she likely will continue to give opponents fuel for their fires with false statements and a learning on the fly appearance. The problem for Republicans is they have a President who has been learning everything related to geopolitical relationships and the workings of the Presidency from day one. You could say that if one is going to make missteps and learn on the job it is better to do it at a lower level of elected office. So supporters of Trump are going to have a hard time bashing her for not knowing this or that all while looking the other way when Trump doesn't know what he is talking about either.

Plenty of dumb people get elected, but for anyone to say that Pelosi isn't intelligent is just nuts. Like her or not, she is brilliant. She has absolutely owned Trump since she took over the house. The fact is, the right doesn't like her because she is smart and effective. Many of the left might not like her because she is too powerful and either too far right or left of their own stance. But I have to question the intelligence of anyone who would question hers. The reason the right hate her is not because she is dumb.

I can't say I hate her. She's in the majority, she knows the game, which buttons to push, who to align herself with, all of it, I'll hand her that much. If she "owns" the orangutan, its because she has a lot of votes behind her. Got a ton of experience too but I still say she's a nitwit. Sorry, call me nuts, I'll survive.

Wouldn’t it be wiser to say you just don’t like her? I can respect that. But for working class folks on a message board to call someone of that stature an idiot, just doesn’t add up.
