I heard of those - I never made it back up there. Been all thru Sycamore Canyon, you check out the main basin ? It is unreal in there.

The Main basin?
Yeah Parsons Creek is the short hike southmost part, Lower Sycamore, real lush lots of sycamores. The main basin is trickier, it is another world - some miles north, best jumpoff is FS road north from Tuzigoot get up on east rim, drop in, its an overnighter. Best to drop down than hike from Lower Sycamore, its a long hot dry uphill haul over flats. Best jumpoff is Sycamore Pass, i cant find my coco map, get directions to Sycamore Pass from a ranger, about half hour of dirt from 89 up to the pass. Old line cabin down there Taylor Cabin. So yeah best access is trailhead at Sycamore Pass is the ticket. Cool vista from Sycamore Pass too.

Not a cityslicker question at all, an astute observation and an advanced geology puzzler. Looks to me like a bit of recent volcanic rock overlay on the much older sandstone. That whole area was seafloor aeons ago. The San Francisco Peaks were a stratovolcano just north of there, blew lava all over.

I find the reactions to AOC fascinating. She's young, doesn't think like a Baby Boomer and asks a lot of questions, throws things out there to talk about.

Not sure why people disparage a bartender or for that matter, any other job. Additionally plenty of bartenders moonlight as a second job.

I always wanted to be a bartender. When I used to cook at a local tavern, the bar would be jam packed Thu-Sun nights, about 5 or 6 deep the whole night. We had 2 bartenders serving the whole area, who also made drinks for the dining room. The head bartender never wrote anything down. She would take a dozen drink orders at the bar in a row, then listen to the servers yell out a dozen more, and she would make all of them in about 5 minutes....perfectly....not one mistake. It was remarkable.
