Pretty cool being called out for recognizing the same group that consistently put forth the effort to share their thoughts anytime a thread disparaging the President appears...
The thread doesn't disparage the president; it ridicules MAGA-hat wearers that feel the need to have a book or an app to avoid sighting a liberal or Dem.
She struck me as a pretty mediocre business as usual bureaucrat, but at least capable, and intelligent.
This does not represent a very high standard for the highest office in the land, in fact describes almost every Candidate who throws their hat into the ring including the man sitting in the Oval office right now.
Mediocrity should not be the norm, which hits the nail squarely on the head and is exactly why I cast my Vote for Gary Johnson. Not so much a Vote got GJ as much as a voice standing up to and against Hillary Clinton. I hope the day arrives soon when a true leader emerges from any political affiliation and can unite us all in the name of what is best for the People of this Nation. I for one truly desire the words "Personal responsibility" to be at the forefront of that platform.
"Catastrophe"?...The continuing slant of this Country to the left; the pendulum is beginning to move to towards the center and that in this Voter's eyes, is avoiding a "Catastrophe".
Your mileage may vary.
btw "The Fifth Risk" is funny as hell, in a scary way. Very well written, reads like Tom Wolfe.
Except Michael Lewis unlike Wolfe writes Non-Fiction. Everything Michael Lewis writes is well-researched & written. He's apolitical in that he's taken on all kinds of issues. I don't think it's liberal to point out how ill-prepared Trump was to become president. There's no question he wanted to WIN; I just don't think he had a clue what he was actually winning.
"Liar's Poker" is still the funniest scariest book re Wall St ever no matter how old it is. He perfectly describes the 25-yr-old MBA coke-snorting a$$holes who manage our pension funds.

Damn Millennials
I never thought I would see the day I would be missing Reagan and Bush, but I have learned my lesson.
To that I would add Nixon who wasn't completely insane until his final days in office.

Yeah, being deeply involved in a Felony will do that to you.
Nixon got us out of Vietnam within a few years of being elected. Sure he didn't pull the plug right away but he slowed that runaway train down. Retro thanks for that, Tricky Dick.

Re the "Hillary Clinton catastrophe" I started a thread a while back to find out exactly what the big deal was against her. Page after page of vague replies like this one, "sliding to the left" and so on. This is hyperbole - Clinton is a capitalist corporate military industrial moderate, capitalism and a free society was under no threat from her. You guys make it sound like we were headed for the USSA.
I agree on the mediocrity complaint. Unfortunately, govt tends to breed mediocrity. Of course a capable and charismatic president would be preferable, but they don't come along very often. In the meantime we need at least someone capable and intelligent to do the job.
The real catastrophe is the current adminstration, from day one a total mess, all documented, nothing vague, no broad political theorizing, just plain as day in your face SNAFU. It is a clear and present danger, if you support this course you are in effect further left than the most rabid anarchist, with chaos as your goal.

Not if you have a "list" of felonies, acts of treason, lie your fat a$$ off, and have no conscience.............. like "moscow don"

If I recall correctly, in President Nixon's case "lying your fat a$$ off" cost him everything and until such edicts befall any other President, my guess is we'll cross that bridge if we encounter it.

I offer no apologies or explanations for my beliefs not meeting anyone else's standard. I do not like the woman, have little respect for her and found her most unsuitable for the Job she sought. My opinion, my vote which, should she decide to run again, would be cast the exact same way for the exact same reasons.
I will continue to sleep just fine and am quite content that my response was deemed "Vague"......
NP, "Vague" doesn't mean "bad" or "dumb", a broad brush has its place in dialogue.
Meanwhile for example we have the DOE run by a nincompoop who doesn't know or give a ratsass about the most critical agency on the planet. You are ok with that. Fine, gotta say in some ways I am too, I've had a good long life, doesn't make much difference to me at this point if a chimpanzee is in charge of nuclear oversight.
Still . . .kind of pointless to worry about a wall when the government is collapsing.

What I would like to see is a modrrste Republican revolt. This is a perfect opportunity, the Dems are running a bunch of hotheads, and Trump is going to get us all killed.
I bet a moderate Republican with class would win in a landslide. None of the Democrats seem strong enough, although I haven’t really heard Kamala Harris yet.
Too many of the GOP voters are hypnotized by Trump. And those in Congress are chicken $hit afraid of him. Unless he's behind bars, Trump will be the nominee.
You mention KH. I like what I hear from her. I think the best ticket (in terms of winning) vs Trump would be Biden & KH.
For everything we've learned and seen about Trump, one would think anyone walking and breathing should be able to defeat Mafia Don, but times are weird now. The fact that he still has 30+ percent tells you all you need to know.

How much respect do you have for Trump? Do you think he lies perpetually? Do you think he's a racist, and do you agree with his ideas on C'ville? Are you on board with his chumming up with dictators? Do you side with Trump when he disagrees with the intel community, or do you believe intel more than Trump? How'd you like his performance in Helsinki? Do you think he's suitable for the job?
We know you hate HC. Why don't you tell us some specifics on your views on Trump.

Count me among those who believe a Wall will keep the Government from collapsing due to the burden of the Taxation required to support those who choose to enter Illegally.

You think the United States government will financially collapse because of the illegal Mexicans? BWAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That’s the best thing Ive heard in months. Thank you for that. Way to own yourself! Geez, now I feel bad for ya.
“Count me among them”....lol, priceless. I sure will count you among them. I think my feud is officially over after revealing that golden nugget. I recommend reading up on government spending.

I need not. Read my post above about mediocrity.....Once again, there is the assumption that because I despise Mrs. Clinton and choose not to speak negatively about a sitting President, that I must therefore approve of any and all actions from the White House.
And what does it matter what I believe?..Therein lies the reason for my for my feeling correct about this thread. The whole group of you here just can't fathom the thought of anyone marching to the beat of a different drummer. When someone does, well here comes the demand for an explanation and the absolute dumbfounded dialogue that follows. The outcome is oh so predictable....
I do not trust or respect Mrs Clinton and am happy as a lark that she is not in the Oval Office. I trust my instincts when I state that we've not heard the last of her.
President Trump does not bother me in the least, simply put, because he is not Hillary.
Judge as you will because, you just can't help it.
These folks reacting to those hats seem to be missing the "live and let live" mantra that liberals should suscribe to. I couldnt care less what hat someone wears, just dont infringe on my freedom. And legalize pot. 😛

When liberals bash Trump, they can’t fathom the thought of anyone marching to the beat of a different drum. When BIGV bashes Hillary and liberals, it’s dofferent and ok. Are you off your meds?

Dude, get a grip. You are losing your mind. You’re letting your emotions get the better of you. Look at how you contradicted yourself several times in one post. That’s not normal.

I believe they refer to that behavior as "Tolerance"....Unless of course you are triggered by that Hat and what it supposedly stands for....LMAO. Then it is OK to punch someone in the face because you are upset
Zachary Greenberg has been charged with 3 felonies, maybe he can get the cell next to Jussie Smollet.
I guess I don't see how pointing out criticism of Clinton as being nonspecific amounts to being unable to fathom someone with a different opinion. Particularly since no opinion was offered other than a dislike of Clinton.
It's how you look at it. Up to you, it could either be a hardass "demand for an explanation" or it could be a genuine interest in what drives folks so crazy about Hillary Clinton. Her hairstyle? Reminds you of your obnoxious feminist cousin? Who knows, but so far in the last three years here I haven't seen anything other than visceral reactions. FWIW I think she is scary looking.
There wasn't this kind of total revulsion against Gore, for example (except by me, I actually have an extremely strong antipathy towards Al and Tipper, can't even look at them, it is visceral, also have been on the warpath against the Gores and all their descendents since Tipper's Parent's Music Resource Center fascist censorship movement. B*tch was f*ckin with MUSIC!).
On to Obama vs. McCain. John McCain wasn't reviled after he lost. That was an interesting election for me personally, as I really liked both the Republican and Democratic nominees, the only time I have ever liked any of the bastards either side. Plus for me it was local boy makes good, I voted for McCain in Arizona.
Sarah Palin was the dealbreaker for me. She was the first of the actual idiots to start running for office, Trump style, on bluster and bullsh*t without two neurons to rub together.
We are all different drummers.

Obama is articulate and a riveting speaker, McCain was a war Hero who had garnered respect from both sides of the aisle and you are right, Sarah Palin has paved the way for other Mentally challenged people in office to gain headlines, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez comes to mind immediately....

You are right. And I really like what I heard from Biden today. He called out those who criticized him simply for complimenting a Republican, saying “that’s not who we are”, and I completely agree. We should be encouraging friendly bipartisanship - it’s what we all loved about Obama, and why Obama dominated all of Washington. Democrats should model themselves after Obama if they want to win. Long story short, I like that Biden/Harris ticket - seems like Biden understands the need to revive Obama’s messages.
Possible, but Repubs could just freak out again with the Trumpmania. I would throw a vote at a decent smart moderate Repub in a New York minute. They earned two terms after eating ObamaCrow for 8 years. I can't believe we aren't seeing signs of a candidate like that, with all the quiet Republican rebellion in congress. It is a real mystery, wtf are they so afraid of?

I think they are waiting for the Mueller report to conclude. If they play their hands now before the report comes out, it could be disastrous. Once the investigation concludes, and Washington decides to act or not act, then we’ll see the campaigning begin now that the facts are out and the smoke has cleared.
I've never voted Democrat in any election but I'd vote for Biden. He'd at least bring some experience and a semblance of statesmanship back to the office. He'll have his fair share of gaffes but he'll carry himself better than what's going on now. Can't believe I have to say that but it is what it is.
I have voted Democrat for local, state and Congress, but never for President...just never saw what I wanted to support out of them. But I could support Biden. I've always kind of liked Joe..."can I call ya Joe"
The thread doesn't disparage the president
For perspective's sake, I just ran the numbers on this thread's Presidential Disparagement Quotient, here are the offending comments and arithmetic:
Trump is hostile, immature, insecure, intentionally divisive, and courted racists and white supremists. . .
. . .the Grand Wizard Of The Birthers. . .
. . .the Great Tool . . .
Negative comments about President: 3
Total number of comments in thread: 55
THREAD PDQ = 5.4%

For perspective's sake, you're stirring the pot as we all enjoy you doing. The thread was started as disparagement of MAGA-hat wearers who resort to an app to find a "safe" place where they won't be sighted by a liberal/Dem. The article says nothing about the man himself nor did I. As you know, the OP can't control the WP.
BTW, when I ask wtf are the GOP moderates afraid of your answer is that it's Armageddon for democracy & just go w/it. Then you pose the same question.
IMO, all this gansta/RICO talk makes me think they're afraid for physical safety. Cohen's latest email release re Guiliani "you can sleep well tonight" isn't about bedtime stories or pardons. Doesn't anyone remember the 1989 helicopter crash that killed 3 Trump Casino execs about the time Trump was forced to find alternative funding sources? His wife at the time, Ivana, took a daily helicopter to Atlantic City & Trump would've been on that ride except for a last minute something as I recall.

I thought I was the one who asked wtf the GOP were so afraid of? My " bedtime for democracy" stuff is cheap alarmist hyperbole, but the possibility is on the radar, which is concerning. Certainly not advocating go with it, was just saying when/if the Titanic goes down no point in worrying about it. Mark it, I am all for steering clear of the iceberg via civilized means, voting, discussion, bumperstickers, coffee mug logos and so on.
Yeah for sure on the hostage GOP, there may be real strongarm racket dirty business going on. Am almost thru Fifth Risk, can't shake the impression that this is all a setup, not simply a bungle. Like the US is being deliberately trashed. Not suggested by Lewis, but I find it hard to ascribe the sheer magnitude of the farce to mere negligence. At any rate, Michael Lewis is scarin the bejeezis outta me!

Of course she does.
She's an intelligent, brown woman who scares the pants off clownservatives.
Her five minutes questioning Michael Cohen resulted in more investigations of trump's criminal behavior.
Good for her, no grandstanding speech, just five minutes of rapid fire questions.
Get used to her, she's the first of many heading to take Congress back from the dinosaurs and I can't wait.
Watch me now, I'm goin down
At any rate, Michael Lewis is scarin the bejeezis outta me!
By writing exposes in such an entertaining way, he scares rational people. When Liar's Poker came out in the late 1980s after the 1987 crash, he thought there would be an outcry that pension funds & institutional investors were literally betting with real people's savings. He expected hate mail. Instead, he got fan mail - from thousands of college kids who wanted to be just like him on Wall St. & wanted career advice. Lucky for us, he became a writer & we have lots of well-written non-fiction about lots of stuff although he always circles back to Wall St.
Trump per se isn't scary. He's a typical smoke & mirrors NYC real estate developer who commits felonies & deals w/mob guys & was a local joke showing up on what to him were local shows like Howard Stern saying outrageous things. He became a celebrity w/The Apprentice & all of a sudden, he's a national icon with a following. Either he's indebted to Putin or he's their useful idiot; IMO, he committed a few crimes but didn't mastermind anything.
