Just a thought
Nobody tell the Evangelicals that as soon as they made a godless, lying, lawless, womanizing conman their messiah, a plague showed up

Don't say it too loudly as they've chosen to look the other way this time around. They don't want to confuse their flock by looking like hypocrites. That's never good for the collection boxes.
We can all take comfort in knowing that if Biden begins to look like he could win the White House in the coming months they'll be out in force warning us about all the evil that will set down upon the land if old Joe is elected. When it counts they'll be there to save us all. Hallelujah....
Anyone that call themselves a Christian, and supports this cowardly president, is a hypocrite.
"Conservative Christian" = oxymoron. Anybody who goes by this handle loses all credibility with me.

An interesting read on the matter.
Welcome to the Trumpocalypse
Maybe the administration would take a bit more care with the coronavirus pandemic if it weren’t loaded with folks who are looking forward to the end of the world
We’re constantly underestimating the centrality of Christian nationalism to Trump’s presidency. It’s true that Trump cannot spout scripture like a Mike Pence, or explain why catering Middle East policy to Israel helps speed us toward the Apocalypse like a Mike Pompeo, or cite selected verses and chapters to explain why homosexuality is marking America for God’s retribution like the White House’s Bible study pastor, Ralph Drollinger. But Trump gets these people and their brutal, zero-sum view of the world — and vice-versa. For starters, the universe is divided neatly into friends, who must constantly prove they’re really friends, and mortal enemies, who must be trampled. Also, of course, the truth that he knows, like the truth they know, is the only truth, even if it’s often subject to revision. And just as the world is out to get them, it’s out to get him. What’s often painted as a marriage of convenience between Trump and the religious right is far closer to a pure love match. When Pence fixes those doe eyes upon his president, he isn’t just kissing up; he means it.

You had me fully until the last sentence. Pence, while religious, sees an opportunity to benefit Mike Pence first and foremost as a result of everything else you so skillfully described above.
The doe eye, @ss kiss at any opportunity routine has been a part of the pence modes operand e well before he met Donald Trump. He also plays the religious zealots in the Right wing the same way. To benefit Mike Pence.....

I suggested a book about Pence in another thread you also visited....And you commented about right after I noted the book. I'm not sure if the libraries are open in Indiana, but if so, you can get it there and not even have to purchase it. Here is the name once again:
"The Shadow Presidency: The Truth About Mike Pence" by Michael D'Antonio and Peter Eisner
And to clarify, I'm not suggesting Pence isn't a religious zealot, just that there's also an ulterior motive behind his undying love of our lord and savior...That is whatever benefits Mike Pence first, our lord and savior second...

In the 90's he was a talk radio host making the argument that since Clinton had been unfaithful to his wife he shouldn't be POTUS. I always say if you listen to John Edwards (Kerry's running mate in '04) and you think "what a greasy cross between a TV preacher and a used car salesman" but you listen to Mike Pence and just nod along, your ideological goggles are really messing up your ability to see clearly. And vice versa.

How was the read on that book you mentioned and the truth revealed on Pence? Is it worth picking up? Just like any other State, most libraries are closed down.

There's a good podcast of an interview with the authors of the book that I can't seem to find at the moment. If you can find it, give it a listen and see if the book is intriguing enough to sign it out of buy it.
However, below is link to an interview with an author of another book about Pence called "Piety and Power" written by a reporter who has covered Pence for sometime for a local paper in Indiana and other media outlets. It's a good interview, albeit about an entirely different but yet revealing book that looks into Pence's background and true ambitions. Give it a listen and see what you think:

As far as the original book I mentioned, if you can get it at a library ( let's hope they eventually re-open), sign it out and give it a read....I wouldn't buy such a book as I find these type books to be sort of a read once kind of thing and so don't typically buy them and instead get them at my local library....I do that with most politically oriented books that I find more informative than entertaining if you know what I mean....

Sounds good.
I do listen To NPR quite a bit and subscribe to Fresh Air among many others.Terri Gross always does a good job.
That's were I try and get my national news from and"All Things Considered". It's difficult to find any news media outlet that isn't slanted one way or the other.
I should have it or I will use the link you sent. I have gotten so far behind on alot of pod's . Some shows more than others.
As long as politically books are fact and truth based , then I can consider them informative.

I think the interview/podcast I couldn't find might have been from NPR's "On Point" or possibly from "Fresh Air." Both interviews with the respectively author's were very informative and interesting.
By the way, I don't mean to suggest that Mike Pence is the only politician or well known figure who leverages faith in religion to forward their own agenda, careers, etc...The history of organized religion is littered with characters who do so and Pence it but one of many.

Interesting listen, I will give it that. He glossed over a couple of things I wanted to hear more of an explanation and why, so maybe reading the book will go into it.
I do agree , and even thought when he was running with Trump, that it might help put him in line to run for the Presidency one day(thinking Trump would not win). I don't think Pence and is wife thought that Don was gonna get elected...who did? Not me.
I even told my wife a few months back , that if Pence ever decided to run now , there is no way he would get elected due to his affiliation with Trump(mostly) and possibly due to his right wing conservative Christian leanings. That's not a popular position these days in America. I don't have a problem with it either way, but it seems to get mocked.
This thread on Pence(or any VP) is probably all gonna be moot and irrelevant in a few more months anyways. That is assuming Biden is gonna win. I am not sure he is a strong enough candidate, but someone else mentioned here its gonna come down to people voting for whoever just not to have Trump elected.
