President Trump is delivering on the jobs front. The employment figures are high enough any President would be proud to post these up.

Obama had better numbers, but of course the right said it wasn't because of anything the president did .... 😛

(A) Kind of odd listening to Trump supporters shout the praises of Trump's job creation skills while simultaneously screaming Mexicans are taking our jobs.
(B) As for the safety in this country, we are more likely killed by someone wearing a red hat than by any Mexican coming here with his family to find a better life.
(C) Over 90% of drugs from the cartels come from the legitimate ports of entry.
(D) There's information that Mexico hardware stores sell ladders and shovels.
(E) To love this wall is to love eminent domain.
(F) More people are going back to Mexico than are coming here.
(G) The people coming here from Central America are asylum seekers, not"illegal"aliens.
Once again, why are we spending billions upon billions of dollars on this ridiculous wall?

Why can't anyone say the Obama Administration dug us out of a hole and got us back on track and Trump Administration continued and extended economic growth and job gains?

Obama's job was much more difficult considering what began with than Trump, but at the same time Trump has stepped it up.

Seems really that both Presidents deserve some praise for our economy on their watch.

It doesn’t fit the right’s narrative that a Democrat did a good job with the economy.

True. That point along with mine shows the frustration for somebody like myself who doesn’t see things through the left/right lens.

The only complaint in general for President Obama’s economy was that the recovery was slower than perhaps it could’ve been. In my opinion, those on the right who fail to find any economic successes for the last administration are wrong as are those on the left who fail to see any economic successes of the current administration.

Nebish - you raise the proper points.

Obama inherited a mess from the Bush admin. If you look at the end of the the Bush admin & to when Obama took over, the jobs creation resembles an inverted bell curve with credit to the right side of the curve (when Obama took over). He had quite a challenge ahead of him.

Obama's handoff of the economy to Trump was exceptionally stronger than that which Obama inherited.

Trump has done a good job in continuing the expansion. However continued cuts in interest rates as well as other Trump policies have mortgaged the deficit to about a trillion dollars - something the GOP would have taken Obama to woodshed on. At some point you pay the piper, and Trump's payoff projection with GDP expansion has not played out.

Trump also lies plenty about the "the greatest this" and "the biggest that" relative to the economy and jobs. He is easily factchecked.

Fact - see below

"During Trump's first 36 months in office, the US economy has gained 6.6 million jobs. But during a comparable 36-month period at the end of Obama's tenure, employers added 8.1 million jobs, or 23% more than what has been added since Trump took office."

I don't disagree Martin.

If we were comparing the first 36 months of Obama to Trump we know the numbers would be quite different. That isn't fair at all to Obama because of the state of the economy and it was in fact shedding jobs early in the Obama tenure. So Trump could proclaim some statistic with selective date range and be factually right, but the perspective would be wrong.

Some of that same perspective could be wrong in comparing the end of Obama's second term job growth to the first 3 years of Trump, because while there are always people saying the next recession is right around the corner, there were credible claims of slowing future growth in the 2016 election cycle and there after. Not just for months, but for years now, news articles and economic analystists have been saying things like "eventually you run out of workers" and "200,xxx monthly job gains are not sustainable". They can keep saying it and sooner or later they will be right, but until then I think this continuing economic expansion has beat the odds. While there will never been an all encompassing benefit across the board, here the positive effects have been fairly broad.

Now, to your point about the debt...and the lack of the anticipated 3% average GDP (or the more ridiculous numbers Trump would occasionally throw out)...therein does lie a problem. When the consequences of that hits the fan nobody knows. I hate debt and deficit spending and most Republicans are certainly hypocrites on that...however seems every administration does it.

Well, a lot sure has changed since we were here last, but looking in the rear view job growth continued amazingly strong.

January was revised up about 50,000 jobs. December was revised up about 40,000 jobs.

And February the US economy added 273,000 jobs. Continuing to defy the experts that it wasn't possible this deep into the expansion.

It's all behind us, but the economic data has been strong. I would imagine the January and February job reports are the last good ones as Coronavirus effects set in. At least we go into that from a good position. Imagine if we had a pandemic and were already in recession.

A friend of mine was just played off from Macy's. They layed off 831 workers in San Francisco, all tech and middle management positions (high wage workers). That doesn't include lower wage retail workers. I expect we will see a lot more of this coming soon.
