The White County Sheriff's Department has not responded to a request from News 8 for comment.

Pretty curious as to what their reasoning for doing what they did was.

"Reasoning" is the operative word here. As in, none.

From the article hemp linked:

"The executive director for ISTA said that choosing to shoot fake bullets at teachers shows a lack of common sense."

Ya think?

..and in other news:

Justin Carter, an up-and-coming country singer, has tragically died after being shot and killed by a prop gun that was supposed to be used for a music video shoot.

The accidental shooting reportedly happened in Carter‘s apartment. He was only 35.

Justin was signed to Triple Threat Management and a rep for the company confirmed the sad news. They told Houston’s ABC 11, “Justin had a potential to, you know, in our eyes, and a lot of people’s eyes to be the next Garth Brooks.”

Triple Threat plans on releasing the rest of Justin‘s music and giving the proceeds to the late singer’s family.

Definitely think it was the wrong approach. In some tactical training situations, I do think using non-lethal ammunition in training exercises can provide a benefit of getting closer to real world and real stress decision making - the kind that other law enforcement or security personnel might engage in. Not people like your average school teacher.

There is going to have to be some explanation for this. What they did isn't always wrong in my opinion, but was definitely wrong with this group of trainees without their consent.

For sure, in boot camp maybe, where you signed up to get your ass kicked.

I would like to attribute this to idiocy, but this strongarm behavior reeks of police-state sponsored complacency training. Same as when D.A.R.E. thugs brought drug dogs to schools and kids got attacked. What did the kids learn? School.is prison and you are not safe from your protectors or external threats.
