good, i hope they throw the book at the company.
I agree. If you are really care about illegals taking American's jobs, focus on the companies hiring illegals that are taking American's jobs.
Salem Ohio is right down the road from me. Alot of national stuff seems to happen in and around the Youngstown area.
That place, there was a protest their a few years ago, people with signs saying "hire Americans", "no illegals". I wasn't there, but have friends in Salem. Supposedly someone from the plant went out and tried to get the protesters to take job applications and work at the plant, which of course all the protesters turned up their nose at.
I agree, any employer needs to be subjected to the toughest penalties possible. Fines that would require the liquidation of the business. Mandatory jail time for HR or anyone responsible for hiring illegal workers. This is assuming their is blatant law breaking by the employer. If an illegal has a fraudulent social security number or fake green card or doctored work visa documentation, if it passes of as legit with the E-verify system then technically that employer shouldn't be held liable if they are in fact trying to determine the legality of the potential employee and the system gives them a green light. If it is determined that the employer is knowingly hiring the illegal, then yes, make them pay a price so high that the risk outweighs the reward.
On the other point, about American citizens not wanting to do this work, or there isn't enough immigrant work permits being issued for the work needed...1) they need to increase the number of work visas and 2) they may have to raise the wages to the point that attracts the necessary domestic workers to fill the positions. That may mean higher prices passed on, that may mean less sales, that may mean some cases, some businesses will have to simply close or shrink operations. Hey, it is what it is. If the employer can not attract the workers to do the work, then that work should cease to exist before they resort to hiring illegal workers.
My neighbor who is a local farmer will go bust. He has a field full of immigrants handling the load while all 400 lbs of him hangs in the local store having coffee and chatting about “Hard Work” to anybody who comes in. I see it often.

I would support your neighbor if he that field full of immigrants are here legally, that is fine. We have temporary programs for foreign workers to come here, we have foreigners here on other legal grounds. That is fine.
But if your neighbor is undermining the US law and is knowingly hiring illegal aliens, then I hope he does go bust because he deserves to. Any maybe that community or our country will lose out on some service he is providing or some goods he is bringing to market. So be it. Everything must operate within our system of laws and those laws should not be bent or applied differently just because it is going to cause some harm or damage to a person, a business or a community or what have you.
The same zero tolerance should apply to illegal aliens and it should also apply to US employers.
