I Am Embarrassed To Be A Texas Resident Right Now

An M.D. recommended she abort her pregnancy for medical reasons. A district court in Texas upheld that decision, but the Texas Supreme Court has blocked it. Now in Texas, politics veto Medicine. I am shocked beyond belief, and also embarrassed to be a Texan.

Now in Texas, politics veto Medicine.
It is the law right? Abortion or ending life support or approval of some medicines or procedures by the FDA or some contractual clauses setting terms and conditions for doctors, the laws and the courts will dictate situations. It's not always what one would want, but somebody somewhere is going to decide what some or all of us can or can't do at some point based on what the laws are.Â
I believe that things would be better if abortion was legal everywhere and anti-abortion people could just care about their own lives. But there are individuals, panels, boards, courts, who will pass judgement on issues involving all of our lives in one way or the other - some for the worst. It is what it is. Change the law to change the outcomes is the only way, until then there will be people who do not get the decisions and outcomes they desire.
I read the article:
Â
The state's abortion ban includes only a narrow exception to save the mother's life or prevent substantial impairment of a major bodily function.
Cox, who is about 20 weeks pregnant, said in her lawsuit that she would need to undergo her third caesarean section if she continues the pregnancy. That could jeopardize her ability to have more children, which she said she and her husband want.
I think the ability to have children is a major bodily function. So I disagree with the court's decision, assuming the plaintiff attorney's had a persuasive argument to that point.  We don't always get the decision or interpretation of a given law we want - or that we should.

I hope I am wrong about this. But was the mother's position that she wanted to abort the baby to avoid the C-Section and then she wanted to get pregnant again?
Â
Again , I really hope I am missing something here. But if that is her position she shouldn't be allowed to procreate at all, let alone decide whether or not a a baby lives or dies.
