I was talking to a friend here in the Bay area the other day, big Warriors fan like me.  I was saying what a huge reality check the current condition of the Warriors is for fans like us.  Although of course it's still very early, they have shown some promise for 2020-21 by evening their record at 2-2 after starting out 0-2.  All of these games were on the road and if you can split your four game season opening road trip that ain't bad.  The Warriors start a seven game homestand on Saturday 1/2.

That said, as mentioned, we Warriors fans are going through a huge adjustment period.  We went to the Finals five consecutive years, winning three of them.  For three of those seasons, we lived in a world which was nearly completely outside of reality.  I mean, for three of those five years we had not one, not two, but THREE of the greatest three point shooters to ever step onto the court:  Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant.  With Durant gone and Thompson having his second serious debilitating injury in two years, we are left with our lone superstar, Curry.  Kudos to Warriors ownership for quickly making a trade for Kelly Oubre as soon as Thompson went down.  But back to the reality:  In four games Oubre is 1-21 from three point range!!  Well folks........you just do NOT replace Klay Thompson.  Truth is, with the combination of his offensive and defensive skills, he is one of the greatest to ever step out onto the court.  I'll never forget Russell Westbrook throwing the ball at Thompson in frustration in the playoffs a couple of years ago.  Thompson shut Westbrook down so bad that he got inside Westbrook's head.

I guess a lot will say that the current Warriors team is a lot of why I am saying what I say next.  I admit I wasn't saying it much when the Warriors were going to five straight NBA Finals.  But regardless, this is what I think about today's NBA game:  It has become WAY too reliant on the three point shot, and it's turned the NBA into something resembling a Harlem Globetrotters type style.  If you don't have three different guys shooting over 35% from three, your chances of going all the way are very slim.  And I think that's sad.

Not to sound like a jerk, but I don't feel sorry for the fans or the teams that dominate for long stretches and then go cold for ahwile. I do feel bad for Klay though. If I had to take one player from that team,it would be him hands down.

It's reality.

Yeah ...I know GS struggled for quite awhile, but turned it around around 2012. Nice to see, but I like to see more parody and all around competiveness.

Today's NBA has been hard for me to swallow and follow over the last few years. Tired of the divas, look at me, chest thumping , and the recruiting of your bros to build a super team. I would love to see some of these prima donnas take on the Pacers,Pistons,Celtics,Knicks of 25-30 yrs ago. A few teeth might be missing.
