The Marine Corps Commandant Warned That Deploying Troops To The Border Is Posing An "Unacceptable Risk"
[Edited on 3/22/2019 by crazyjoe]
Hey ! Think the time is right for a palace revolution
But where I live the game to play is compromise solution
Well, what can a poor boy do
'Cept to sing for a rock 'n' roll band
Cause in sleepy London town
There's just no place for a street fighting man
No!
But Hillary.
The type of work the active duty military is being asked to do at the border I would strongly suspect upsets some soldiers and commanders alike. Some may feel they are above being deployed to the border simply to put up concertina wire when their skills and assets are more specialized and that kind of work can be accomplished by any number of other individuals. Then some probably view it as their duty to perform the tasks asked of them.
On the budget shortfalls, I will never be surprised that the military is constantly saying they don't have enough money no matter how much we spend.
I think of other initiatives or decisions that might run in conflict with military objectives that leaders of our nation might believe are in this nation's best interest....like can we ever reduce the amount of military spending without being told how dangerous it is and how it puts our soldiers at risk? Can we ever close a base in a foreign country without compromising strategic alliances and reducing readiness?
I mean, if we always listen to the military and always give them what they want is that always the right answer?
But Hillary.
Exactly. And what about Benghazi? More Select Committee Investigations needed?
Forgot Russia, North Korea, and Saudi Arabia which are all Fake News.

I do catch Your drift about an over bloated Military nebish, but Sorry Man, when it involves Miltary and Security issues, i tend to listen to the most accomplished Military and Security experts that the U.S. has to offer. Not the ravings of some narcissistic, egotistical, fraudulent businessman, who's greatest strategical accomplishments came in the World Wrestling Federation?............Peace............joe
This makes how many top brass are upset with the president so far?

When you put it like that it is hard to argue otherwise.
I have not spoken to any current marines, I know two former Marines (sorry, I don't think they like being referred to as former Marines), one of which is a big Trump supporter, the other is a Trump skeptic at best. I don't think Marines or their commanders really want to be doing border security work, but people don't get to pick their assignments.
Read over the story again, it sounds like the funding issue is his big issue, which could partially be due to spending money on active duty at the border and the other reason for the shortcomings is likely due to budget issues in Washington being what they are.

My phone or the link is glitching on me, but I believe You are correct in that it was more about the need for funding in more valid and strategically places than the emergency wall. Beyond that I don't think the Commandant made to many personal comments toward the Trump or anyone else.............Peace..........joe
