Here is the problem. There shouldn't be right news and left news. The news should be the news, not political spin. The news should not be a cheerleader for a political agenda.

x2. I wish it would be illegal to demonstrate a bias if you market your organization as a news outlet. There should be strict penalties for doing it. I hope Trump fixes the fake news problem rather than cry about it everyday on Twitter. Speaking of crying, I wonder how Kavanaugh is holding up from his victimization. Mueller demands and launches an investigation when he was accused.

That's funny. I wonder when the dictionary will modify the definition of "fake news" to match his own. Maybe while they are at it they can change the definition of Mexico to mean US taxpayers when referring to who is paying for a wall.

This is what you'd expect of Hannity, Trump's top advisor & lapdog.

Sean Hannity Strides Onstage At Trump Rally, Declares 'All' Media Fake News

Just shows what a hard hitting journalist Hannity is. I'm almost surprised Trump didn't pick Hannity as the new attorney general over the fake news CNN guy. Then again, Hannity is too valuable to Trump at his propaganda network to remove him from his position there.

What about FOX's own Judge Jeanine Pirro? She certainly has no biases, & we know that Trump loves to stock with TV personalities. It would be a win / win - Win for Trump & win for Pirro. Not so much for the millions of Americans, but our interests certainly are subordinate to Trump's. Isn't this the way the system is supposed to work?

Careful what you wish for! Couldn't disagree more. You are basically calling for muzzling op-ed. The rest of it all is just stupid old boring news. The press has always had different voices, since it began. Remember that little Constitutional detail, "Freedom of the press"?

News is just news - weather, sports, the latest masscree, what have you. I'm not conservative and I get my news from Fox on AM radio, never heard of a liberal hurricane, a conservative forest fire, a far left cat rescue, a nazi lost kid.

I’m calling for journalistic integrity, which I believe is a matter of national security. Without journalstic integrity, we have an ignorant and uninformed public. Deliberate attempts to blend op-ed with factual reporting, or spin, has nothing to do with an op-ed, which are always labeled as such to inform the public. But tabloids like CNN and Fox News intentionally blur the line, and conduct factual reporting with a clear spin and bias, outside of their op-ed segments, which I still argue should be illegal as a matter of national security. They’ve both helped start this civil war between the right and the left, and continue to pour gas on the fire every day.

I get your complaint re journalistic integrity. That is an ethical, not a legal, concern.

True, but I say make it a legal concern with tighter FCC oversight. In the same way tobacco and alcohol can’t “market” their products to kids, a tabloid should have to market itself as entertainment, and not news. Something, anything to stop the tabloids like CNN and Fox News from calling themselves “news”.

I hear the same lack of "journalistic integrity" coming out of CNN. (I try to watch all of the outlets for news as long as I can stomach it)...But, turn on CNN at anytime of day and I guarantee they are "Reporting" on something President Trump has said or done. Surely there are other "Newsworthy" things happening on this Planet.

Maybe not.
Cool

So CNN should not report on Trump? Did you feel the same way about Fox News when the reported on Obama every day?

BTW, name one CNN or MSNBC reporter or talking head that ever appeared on stage at a political rally.

First order of business under the new restrictions would be to force Weekly World News to drop "news" from its title.

You missed the point. Tell me the last time you saw a CNN staff member step on stage with a president to do a rally to amp up the base. That is the point.

So CNN should not report on Trump?

Not every single waking moment

Did you feel the same way about Fox News when the reported on Obama every day?

Actually, yes I did, I've still a lot of respect for President Obama. I may not have agreed with a lot of his policy decisions, but I respect him.

Trump is the POTUS. Everything he says or does has an effect on all of us. He should be covered completely. Ignoring his remarks or actions does a great disservice to the people. If he doesn't want negative coverage, he should start acting like a freaking president instead of a reality show host.

I would add that Trump, like no other previous President creates and manifests controversies on a daily basis (see texts & his spoken words). It appears some of these are thought out & some are impulsive. He also lies on a daily basis. At this stage he is closing in on 7000 lies since his first day in office.

As a result, the free press has a responsibility and obligation to report on these, as well as anything he does that is positive. How often the reporting is done is up to the network or newspaper. Individuals can choose to watch networks that cover Trump like this or can choose to watch reruns of Gilligan's Island instead on another network.

Once again, my issue with CNN is that this appears to be ALL they "report" during their broadcasts

choose to watch reruns of Gilligan's Island instead on another network.

Might be a better option than CNN

You would learn more from sitcoms than the news. Gilligan's Island is an apt allegory for the current administration. I would add the Addam's Family - isolated, vain, petty, inept.

Just turn off your TV, it is garbage. Always has been. Talking about integrity of CNN vs Fox or whatever is a joke, it is the boob tube, designed to program you into drooling idiocy.

All ratings measure is how many flies are attracted to one steaming pile over another. The higher the ratings, the bigger the pile and the more brainwashed flies buzzing around it.
