Former Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez Found Not Guilty On Double-Murder Charges
The former NFL star is already serving a life sentence for an unrelated murder.

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was found not guilty on two murder charges Friday in Massachusetts.
Hernandez, already serving a life sentence for an unrelated murder, was acquitted of first-degree murder charges in the killing two men in Boston in 2012. Prosecutors said Hernandez fatally shot Daniel De Abreu and Safiro Furtado at a traffic light, after one of the men spilled a drink on Hernandez inside a Boston nightclub.
The jury found Hernandez guilty on one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.
In 2015, the former NFL star was convicted of first-degree murder and weapons charges in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd. He is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Well we are not judge or jury here. This is the way our legal system works, the end result is not always what some want or some see as just.

Nothing to wonder about, the NFL's drug testing regime for performance enhancement drugs is the biggest farce in professional sports. Ironically, they test for cannabis use, a drug which in a sense is also performance enhancing due to its medicinal qualities, far more accurately and rigorously.
Obviously having "super human" athletes benefits the NFL tremendously, thus the lax steroid enforcement, but why not allow players to treat themselves from all the destruction they do to their bodies with cannabis instead of opiates?

Condolences to those who loved Aaron Hernandez. Seriously.
Not meaning to sound all pious and all, but here is another case of a young man blessed with a natural gift who squandered it.
I worked with an high school team for over 20 years. I can't recount the number of kids I've encountered who had limited talent who pushed themselves to be the best that they could become. Many had dreams of making it to any next level - hoping for a full or partial scholarship to offset tuition costs while earning their ultimate goal of an education. There were a few others who were almost at the top at their level who sought a career in pro ball. "Almost" being the operative word. It's a steep mountain to climb.
Hernandez is not the first to waste his gift - I've seen many. Just a waste at so many levels.
I could mourn Aaron Hernandez, but instead I'll work to instill confidence in the next scrawny 120 pounder that I see running bleachers or coming into a weight room on a Saturday morning.
What a waste of talent. He could have had the world by the nuts, but needed to be a gang banger. Condolences to his family.

I am involved in AAU basketball and i ran into a former coach of a team in a "rough" part of town. I was saddened to find out kids with mad skills had no college plans. It was really disappointing seeing these young players for the last 3 years. really good kids not have a support system to get them onto college so they could get a degree for no money out of pocket. In the more affluent part of town kids with less skills but probably better grades are getting full D3 rides. Its hard for these kids to make it. Hernandez jad a good home and didnt realize how lucky he was.

States that have life sentences for punishment ought to offer the prisoner the option of state assisted suicide. If they do not want to spend their life in prison, they should have the option of dieing without all the stress of having to off themselves. I also am opposed to lethal injection because I do not believe it is not stressful to them, preventing a person from breathing even while not in an awakened state doesn't mean they do not suffer. One bullet properly administered, quick, painless, much better option.

I worked for Cianci, hung out with him a time or two. All I'll say is (and this is being quite gentle) his persona as politician and his persona behind closed doors were polar opposite.
as for Raymond...my father, before he taught Raymond "Junior" in high school, worked "up the Hill" for many years. I spent a lot of time there. The stories I heard...yikes.

Just read the Newsweek article. Heavy stuff, and I'd never heard this angle.
Whatever happened, you can sure say this: Hernandez was one COMPLEX human being. He may have lived to be 80 years old in prison, who knows? Thanks Aaron for saving us taxpayers a 50 year bill for your meals, housing, and medical/dental care.
As Stephen A. Smith said on ESPN the morning after his suicide, "Aaron Hernandez is not worthy of our sympathy. My prayers go out to Odin Lloyd and his family". Yes. No sympathy here for this animal.
