Dixville Notch, NH goes the Clinton 4 votes to 2 for Trump, 1 for Johnson and surprisingly 1 write-in for Romney

One result so far is that the markets are in turmoil.

If Trump wins, I hope everyone who has been investing funds can weather it.

The results so far are not a shock to me one bit. The same day he called the Mexicans rapists, I knew that millions who never voted before were going to come out in droves.

Traders and markets do not like the unknown. Clinton is status quo, they know what to expect. Markets dipped when new broke last week that the FBI was looking into new emails...as if there was a greater chance of a Trump victory on that news. So on the real numbers we are seeing, no surprise markets will sell off in the face of uncertainty on nearly every level that they care about (foreign policy, trade policy, fiscal policy).

Clinton, like Obama and Bush and all, is their choice. They know what they will get, they know what to expect. All bets in that regard are off right now.

All night Rachael Maddow keeps implying that Gary Johnson votes may have prevented Clinton from winning some of these states. That just can not be true. If somebody who would typically support the Democrat ticket and they don't like Clinton and wanted to protest vote, they would not protest vote libertarian - right? I would believe that the Gary Johnson numbers have kept Trump from accumulating more votes.

She compared Ralph Nader to Gary Johnson...I don't see it. She is grabbing at straws.

Pretty unbelievable night. I can see why she is at a loss to explain the results.

A Clinton campaign person told Huffington Post they thought they would win Florida by 5%. Instead they lost it. Virginia was a close call! PA, MI, WI...my oh my...

I hope the Dow drops 2,000 points today. I'll be doing some shopping.

Two thoughts:
1) How long will it take A) to be attacked or get into another war
2) Will this last 4 years without him being impeached

And we have porn star as a first lady! Unbelievable!
WE ARE F*CKED!!

Theories on tonight's results:

> This may finally be the event that forces the DNC to recognize that abandoning your constituents like educators, unions and those who are anti-war and forcing through a candidate that is deeply unpopular in your own party isn't going to win you any elections.

> Sooner or later the media is going to have to start acknowledging the fact that Trump wasn't elected primarily due to racism and misogyny. Trump was primarily elected because people are sick of the leadership this country has had for the last 30 plus years.

None of those huge crowds of Bernie Sanders supporters were calling for racist policies.

It wont be for long. This will give the people of the WP something to talk about for the next four years. Good for the site, a lot of action.

It happened. Far worse and far more seriously than the joke of Dylan winning the Nobel prize for LITERATURE, we now have an ignorant carnival barker as president-Elect.

I truly thought US citizens would see that his ignorance, lack of any knowledge of or even interest in democracy and recognition that there are 3 branches of government with checks and balances, and horrifying biases against individuals who are citizens made Trump - who had his twitter account taken away because he couldn't be trusted to control his temper and his impulses - unfit to be anything other than a TV reality star personality.

I have never understood the visceral hatred of HRC, but it exists. While she was still Hillary Rodham, people in Arkansas DESPISED her simply for breathing and being married to Bill Clinton.

Good luck. My transfer to Italy was approved.

Interesting take on that, probably right.

My wife woke about 1:30 am and turned the TV on and woke me up to the news of Trump on the verge of winning. Watching the liberal/democratic bias news outlets pundits and pollsters squirm in disbelief as the turning of the screw was going into their backs was amusing. No, they are not in bed with the left wing at all. The sky is falling!!!! 😉

I guess those polls were off a little , eh?

The people spoke.

I take some solace in the fact that 52% of Americans rejected Trump last night.

As I've said many times, this election has mirrored the rise of Paul LePage as gov here in Maine, and so I speak from experience when I say we are all in for some dark times ahead.

We were in for dark times anyway, but now it can all be blamed on a Republican. Since the biggest loser last night was the progressive mainstream media, they'll reach in the closet for all their old Bush-bashing bias' and crank it up as new & improved Trump hatred to recapture their audience. From Pravda on the Hudson (NYT's) to NBC to the LA Times and all in between, they've been given newfound purpose.

Yes, yes it was and there is a lot of truth into what was written. Especially the part about the party nominating the best person to help advance their washington intrests and not someone for the people. If the Rnc was rigged and corrupt as dnc we would have had Jeb! as the nominee.

Thanks for sharing this.

Very good read. It really hits the nail on the head regarding Clinton and her "support" from the media. I will say at times I thought Donald didn't have a chance just from what I would hear from the media, which was often biased (economic conditions are improving/no legitimacy in Clinton scandals, etc.). Not trying to step on any shoes here, I like all of you guys, but I think a somewhat "unconventional" change was much needed. Just goes to show that no matter what you hear in those trusty polls, the truth will come out in the end. I wish the best for ALL OF US, and I am damn glad this election is finally over. 'Murica!, the road goes on forever!

Less than half of the country just elected as president a racist misogynist who is also a habitual liar and behaves like a bully. Expect divisiveness, at least until Trump shows he can be different as president than he was as a candidate and for pretty much his whole life before that.

President Donald J. Trump !

We The People have taken our country back and embrace real hope and change.

The American People reject the corruption, crimes, habitual lying, failed policies and complete dearth of leadership of and by the Democrats.

It is morning in America again!

I have never understood the visceral hatred of HRC, but it exists.

The results of the election show the proof of people's disdain for this woman. For every voter (or not) who thinks President elect Trump a buffoon, there is one who believes Mrs. Clinton is a Liar. I for one can not recall a more plastic candidate than HC. The word that comes to mind is fake.....
