Well, Donald and Melania entered the concert at the Lincoln Memorial to the song "Heart of Stone". Curious choice.

What a beautiful day and peasceful transition of power from 44 to 45. And the weather held off too it seems. May God guide him in his duty to restore American Greatness, Leadership, and Strength in this troubled world we live in. Let America be a shinning city on a hill, a beacon of light for the misguided and small minded to shed their hate for America and return to core values - hard work, family, and religion.

Certainly a different kind of inauguration speech...

On the substance of America first, Buy American, Make it in America...I'm all for that. it is campaign rhetoric, but to hear it so strongly in his inauguration speech it signals to Corporate owned Republicans and Democrats that this is not going to be free trade as normal pursued by both parties through the years. And letting foreign nations figure out their own affairs without US imposing certain views upon them - a stark contrast with historic precedent. Hoping for fewer entangling alliances. Those were highlights for me personally.

It was a uncomfortable at times and if it was uncomfortable for me then I can only imagine how the representatives from Congress (both parties) and former Presidents (both parties) may have felt. Only the kind of moment of a speech an outsider could've delivered and perhaps only the kind of moment of a speech that Trump could've or would've delivered.

Wipe ISIS off the face of the earth, or something like that...no doubt everyone would like that goal, not sure how realistic it might be or what means you go by to achieve it.

When he was talking about it making no difference if one is black, brown or white and whether you are born in urban Detroit or on the plains of Nebraska..I thought he could've or should've taken it one step further to emphasize inclusion and specifically say, woman, gays and American citizens of all nationalities. I'm sure critics will think him not mentioned the later is purposeful...I doubt that, but probably the opinion some will have.

I'm likely forgetting something I wanted to mention. Thought I read President Obama's lips and he said "good job" immediately after Trump's speech even though he showed facial expressions of concern at times (understandably from his point of view) yet also offered occasional applause, be it sincere or not. I believe even the sharpest Obama critic must have gained some respect for how the President has handled the transition, an incredibly difficult situation given what it is, he has handled it with alot of class, dignity and respect for the process. Some of the frequent Obama critics here, put yourself in his shoes with all things considered, I'm not sure many of us could've conducted ourselves post-election as gracious as President Obama.

As much as I dislike Trump, the peaceful transition of power is critical to the constitutional process, and I'm glad it went off without a hitch once again. For that, we should all be proud. That is the highlight for me.

The other highlight for me was seeing that huge empty lawn.

Dont believe the MSM on the size of the crowd. There have been some photos circulating from people there and the lawn is absolutely packed in. Its more of the same sour grapes election tactic not mentioning the size of the crowd or downplaying the crowd.

Its sad and I wonder how we got to this point when even reporting or showing a picture of the packed lawn in DC does not fit some agenda.

In fairness, that photo on the right of January 20th 2017 was from about 9:00 this morning. I remember seeing that exact view on TV. The live shots I've seen during the actual time of the inauguration show it fuller. So hours before the inaugural events. Still attendance for Obama's first inaugural is said to be what 1.8 million? Trump's was expected to be 900,000.

Interesting pissing match..."my inauguration attendance is more than your's".

Here is a photo with the actual time stamp on them. Both between 11:00 and 11:30.

But I'm sure Trump still considered that a bigly crowd.

Uge...the most ever perhaps!

I'm not going to get into the argument of photos. I can say I had the TV on from about 8:30-10:00. I know I saw an arial attendance photo on NBC I think it was during that time frame. I did not again turn a TV on until about 11:45 or so when ceremonies were full swing. I know I saw a photo looking just like the one on the right during my morning viewing and thought "that turnout is rough". Other people can get into times this and that. I think it was earlier than 11:00-11:30, but it doesn't matter because Obama had a much larger turn out whatever one takes that to mean.

With the start of the swearing in ceremonies at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration proper being about 20 minutes away, the pool feed used by all of the major television news organizations switched to an overhead shot of the National Mall. In that moment, something was a bit conspicuous, which quickly got pointed out by both television anchors and members of the news media on Twitter: There were clearly a lot less people there than had been anticipated.

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/trump-inauguration-attendance-is-noticeably-less-than-expected/

The time can be confirmed from a number of sources.

CNN has not been caught misrepresenting anything. There are a lot of plausible explanations for the crowd size including Trump's supporters are mostly rural and they may have decided not to travel. Trump's approval rating is also half of what Obama's was in 2009.

This idea that everything is rigged and you can't trust MSM, the polls, the scientists or the intelligence community is fu_ckin idiotic. The only person who is truthful is the Donald. People can't be that stupid to keep buying into this crap. Trump is a propagandist.

Still hopefully the next four years is not a constant stream of BS from the right.

To put the issue to rest, there is a webcam for national mall. It has archived views from today in 1 hour segments. Looking at it the photo in question would appear to be 11-12 as pointed out. I must've seen an even sparser crowd in the earlier morning.

So you are saying that American Greatness, Leadership and Strength don't exist now...right? It's your premise that hopefully God can guide Trump to restore things that already exist.

If you disagree, then explain to everyone why you believe these things don't already exist under the leadership of administrations of Bill Clinton, the Bushes, and Obama. You can either group these former presidents together or single out any or all of the previous presidents.

It comes down to quality vs. quantity. Trump's crowd was all 'Mericans, while Obama's crowd was all idiots, socialist thugs, homos, ethnics, ugly loudmouth women, illegal aliens, and paid rioters.

This might be the post of the day!!!!!

I'm sure the webcam was rigged. CNN was probably behind it as Original Goober implied.

Just because he's now president, you didn't expect him to be honest all of a sudden did you?

Very classy for him to not call her Crooked Hillary and to say he has a lot of respect for her. So, does that mean he is reneging on his campaign promise to put her in jail?

Wasn't he also supposed to round up 2 million illegals and ship them back to Mexico today?
