College Football 2019
Since we normally don't get the same interest for the bowl pick'em as we do for a season long pick'em, would you guys want to join another league I have, or would you rather do our own?
Here is the existing one I am also commissioner of:
group is CTGers
password is kyler
if that link doesn't work I can send a direct invite via email. Let me know. There are 17 people currently in it. AJ's pool is good too. I'm never good at straight up picks pools as I heavily rely on underdog point spreads for my picks.

I did rejoin that group, right now there are 3 of us. If anyone wants more participation you can join the other one as well. Here is the Whipping Post Goes Bowling league:
Group: Whipping Post Goes Bowlin
Password: Mayfield
Had La Tech come through to "improve" me to 2-7 ATS in bowls. Hopefully, things keep going that way.
Among the wagerers here, who does everyone like against the number in Saturday's Playoff games?
I like under 76 on LSU/OU and I bought a 1/2 point on Ohio State to +3.
Nebish? Lee?

I really don't have an opinion on the big games, side or total. A +14 might sucker me into OU. Slight lean to Ohio St, but no strong feeling really. My favorite games have been Washington, Hawaii and UNC. Hawaii could've went either way and I got lucky in the end there. Every other game I am pretty much deciding right before kickoff what side to guess on. I bet on Iowa last night because they took the cyhawk off the helmet in memorial and honor of Hayden Fry. I remembered they did that in that Alamo bowl I think in like 1998 or something and team played inspired. Making a betting decision like that kinda makes me feel like a girl who picks a team based on the uniforms the team wears! I like bowl games, but this time of year finds me at my least interest in the sport.
Good luck!

Thanks Neb!
Thankfully when the number dropped before kickoff, I had nearly as much straight up on LSU. Hopefully, the second game is way more competitive. Still like the Buckeyes. Clemson is damn good though.

Tigers vs Tigers.
Heck of a drive by Lawrence at the end. Drove 95 yards in 4 plays. That's confidence. That being said, LSU is on a mission. Unless they commit a bunch of mistakes on offense, LSU wins by 17.
Well, I got home just in time to see Western Michigan blow the game at the end. Tie game, they have the ball in field goal range, fourth and three, about a minute to go. KICK THE FIELD GOAL. Coach decides to go for it, they don't get, Western Kentucky kicks a game winner on the last play.
Western Michigan's coach should have his n*ts removed. 😮

Little late to answer your questions coot but some I took over the weekend: I LOVED Iowa Friday against USC. The Trojans are such a mess.
I never do parlays but I did one Saturday; Notre Dame and Penn State. Took them both as well as the parlay. Not the prettiest games to watch but if your teams are winning pretty much all the way, it was fun.
I was working the Northwestern basketball game yesterday (boy are they bad) and I was talking about the Notre Dame game with a friend and he said Iowa State had no business playing in that game. For name recognition, perhaps but they lost four games this season to ranked teams by a total of eleven points. That's very impressive!
LSU / Oklahoma? Didn't touch it. Figured LSU would win but God, that was unreal.
Tonight, I am taking Virginia. They were getting 14 and now it moved to 15.5. This is normally a bad sign but I am taking them. I might parlay them with the over (55.5). Virginia can move the ball.

Oh, a big loser. Pitt against Eastern Michigan. It's EMU. Really Pitt? Couldn't come close to covering?

Well, yesterday was rather, shall we say, fruitful. I took Louisville and Virginia as dogs and Cal as a favorite. I only went 2-2 straight up but hey, cash is king right?
Don't like the two early games although it seems Arizona State should be able to cover against Florida State. Not sure what FSU is doing these days.
Later game picks forthcoming.

I think the Tigers will lose tonight.

Congratulations hoffcl as the bowl pick'em Champion!
Anyone see at halftime they had 10 college greats on the field. Jim Brown, Staubach, some of the typical greats. Was sad to see Gale Sayers represented by his nephew I believe it was. I had heard he is suffering from some dementia. Sad. His days of public appearances may be over unfortunately.
The Kansas Comet - one of the greatest, who would’ve been greater if not for bad knees - bummer about the possible dementia
"Burreaux"! Well done LSU. Heck of a game!
Anyone see / hear any news about the 2020 season? Kirk Herbstreit doesn't think there will be one. Let's hope that isn't the case! 🙁
On the other hand, Dabo Swinney disagrees. Let's hope he is correct.

It is hard to imagine right now 100,000 people filling a football stadium. Even without fans, it is hard to imagine a football team being in close proximity with each other.
Man, that would just be terrible, not the simple presence of the sport, but it would mean we are still in dire situation (or the reemergence of one).

Unless something drastically changes, no major sports for the rest of 2020. Locker rooms for one thing. We'll live.

Bursting the Bubble: Why Sports Aren't Coming Back Soon
https://www.si.com/mlb/2020/04/10/sports-arent-coming-back-soon
Honestly as much as I love college football, and love is an understatement, I really don't think I would miss it. There is more to life (well maybe not on Saturday in the fall). I really really worry about the economic fallout of not having sports though.
There are 130 schools that compete in Division 1 / IA / FBS college football. The pending and perhaps inevitable postponement / cancellation of the season is going to hit about half of those schools hard. Football pays the bills for a lot of other things outside of the athletic department.
For me...on the bright side, I won't get fat sitting on my ass watching 16 hours of games on Saturday. I get in shape over the summer so I can eat and drink all that stuff during football season. Probably just keep being healthy now without football.
