I work in healthcare and we taxpayers pay for every uninsured person who turns up at the emergency room.
How can there be uninsured with Obamacare? Isn't there a penalty for the uninsured?
Granting healthcare benes shifts the burden of payment and should reduce charity care and cost in the long run.

When someone shows up at the ER at 4:00AM they get cared for. Period. Tetanus shot; heart attack; kidney failure that is the way our system works. It is billed for; but usually not paid for and written off as bad debt.
Every other patient pays extra through surcharges in their insurance and government pools that reimburse the hospitals.
This is why it is so important that all citizens should be required to have a reasonable insurance plan. Opting out is not an option until we as a society say "you opted out you die now" and that is never going to happen. Opting out means (at the cost of bankruptcy; etc) you get taken care of in an emergency.
Re: Illegals I just don't think the country can financially afford it. In generations past friends/family pooled resources to pay for family/neighbors to get care. Medical care is too expensive to do so now.

A generation would be better off getting paid on the books to do this jobs. As someone mentioned before these jobs are outsourced to illegals. The homeowners don't get the discount - the employers pocket it.

Again, THIS is the big problem that needs to be solved. If medical care wasn't expensive, this minor sub-issue wouldn't really matter unless you are one of the people who wakes up with an axe to grind against illegal immigrants.
Two people very close to me who work in construction-type jobs suffered injuries that required minor surgery that sent them into debt for the year. Yes, medical care is a service that costs money, but it shouldn't bankrupt people.
If your friends were on the books there is no patient responsibility for comp. can understand if the were in trouble due to inability to work
Illegally employed workers ( citizens or not) get dumped on everyone else

My mom died of a hemmorhagic stroke. Zero chance of survival. I was asked if I wanted them to operate (docs were up front not lying) I said no- most people don’t

No, using xenophobia as a rallying cry is racist. Prior to 2016, deporting illegal immigrants was a policy agreed to by both parties. It just wasn't a dehumanizing priority.

Of course there again is the false statement about illegals getting to vote. They can't, except for school board elections in a handful of cities. Yeah, I'm sure they all travelled here so they can vote in a school board election.
And they all conspired to vote in states that are blue already - why didn't they go and vote multiple times in swing states?
