When will Dr. Fauci return to give daily or at least weekly briefings? I realize that the murder of George Floyd and related events like gassing innocent protestors by Trump may have taken center stage, but we do have a have a pandemic that kills by the day.

We were getting daily briefings when Trump saw these as public relations outlets for his "leadership" on the pandemic until it became evident that he botched that, and that he presents a "leadership vacuum". Trump realized that the briefings were causing him more harm than good since he sees everything through the lens of his reelection. Additionally, it was evident and polls support that people believe Fauci much more than Trump in the credibility category.

In the meantime, I don't think we're hearing officially from Dr. Fauci as the days march on and the numbers continue to rise.

June 6 Stats follow:

United States
Coronavirus Cases:
1,984,515
Deaths:
111,987

Below is a brief article from May 21 quoting Dr. Fauci when cases in USA were around 1.5 million & deaths were slightly over 93,000. So since then you can see how the numbers continue to rise. Updates would be beneficial from a believable source other than Trump giving an aside yesterday while discussing job stats saying that we're making great progress.

Bring back Dr. Fauci.

He now says it isn't inevitable that there will be a second wave in the fall..."it could happen, but it is not inevitable" (CNN interview May 27). Earlier in April he had said a second wave in the fall was "inevitable". And he said people shouldn't rush to reopen, but then later said "irreparable damage can be caused if stay at home orders are imposed for too long".

He's trying to educate the public and his insight has been helpful, but I reached a point where I got tired of people contradicting themselves on telling us what to do and how to do it.

How many here just weeks ago were preaching "Fauci is God"?

Not contradicting himself
Changing his opinion as more data and information became available
I would say that he is Being open minded.
That’s a good thing.

Remember, this is all new to everyone
We are all learning as we go

He remains one of the most reliable and knowledgeable people out there

Last week, I wrote that I'd like to see/hear more from Fauci. Trump may not be holding task force meetings or pressers, but Fauci is an expert who can appear where he's invited. The media seems to have lost interest in him.

Fauci, as well as the other doctors and experts, have always couched their projections as being subject to innumerable variables that change on a daily basis. Fauci couldn't possibly have foreseen the death of George Floyd nor the 2 weeks of protests that followed. I trust his expertise & recognize that he's not infallible.

It doesn't take an MD or PhD to know that if social distancing prevents spread of the virus, shoulder to shoulder protests - whether they're at a state capitol re re-opening or in the streets re racism - are likely to cause a spike in new cases.

What I miss is the front page NYT maps of cases, hospitalizations, & deaths in every state so we can see for ourselves what's going on. That's information we shouldn't have to hunt for. In the meantime, NYC is far from re-opened & some are beginning to wonder why live here w/o the arts/culture/energy that used to draw so many.

You are correct.

I suppose it is how sometimes Fauci would say would be gospel and the press would hold up his comments to show how all other opinions were wrong and then Fauci would have a different comment that sometimes was different than the first and this happened enough that for me the importance and meaning behind the statements started to get watered down. We probably early on got too much Fauci, when he himself was still learning about this new virus and maybe put a little too much emphasis on some of his comments some of which have changed through this process.

I always like Fauci and Birx and their presentations and comments, I defended them on our forum. It's not that I no longer respect them, but I no longer feel the need to hear what they are saying...right or wrong of me. The virus hasn't moved on but I have moved on from hanging in their words and soaking in all their data and opinions. Just how I feel.

I understnad your response, but we need specailists in every field to guide us in events of society as they unfold. Fauci has a career based in science and specialization in pandemics so I'll defer to him or his contemporaries. Otherwise it's researching articles which can state any conclusion to support one's beliefs if we look hard enough or find a TV station to support one side of an argument / justification versus another. Then there is a president who touts statements that are blantantly wrong and bizarre. At a time like this, we need expertise and experience. So, I'm going to give the respect and still hang my hat with Dr. Fauci becasue he knows more than I could ever on this subject.

Looks like even the NIH stopped updating Dr Fauci's appearances, only updated through end of April even though he has done interviews in May and June.
https://www.niaid.nih.gov/news-events/director-in-the-news

I'd assume NIH could give their own coronavirus briefings, but it would probably be buried on cspan somewhere.

North Carolina just reported record highs today in hospitalizations for Covid cases. This is the same North Carolina Trump insists upon having a wide open convention of his admirers. Makes sense - let them all flock to NC and party on with Trumpco. No masks & no social distancing.

Trump threatens NC to take his convention elsewhere if it's not wide open. The good news is that there are always red states that would have stepped up and will welcome Jefferson Davis Trump to their states - Florida and Texas. The bad news is that numbers are rising once again in both of those states.

Should be the biggest & best GOP Convention ever this fall. Nobody does it better than Trump. Wonder what the over under will be at the convention for new cases reported?

As of yesterday, the RNC said it would conduct all convention business in Charlotte due to its contractual obligations. The location team for Trump's acceptance speech has narrowed it down to Jacksonville FL & Savannah GA - both w/rising #s. Can't believe a responsible governor will guarantee now there will be no capacity restrictions in a state in late August. Still think Las Vegas is the best choice given the mayor's declaration that it's not her job to protect anyone's health.

BTW, Fauci is out there talking, making speeches, & carrying out his business as usual. He just doesn't seem to have Trump's ear anymore.

It'll be interesting to see as the convention time in August draws closer & where the states you mentioned are at re: Covid. I sure wouldn't want to attend if I were a delegate regardless of how high or low numbers are. If the convention is limited, it will infuriate Trump. The other thing is whether masks will be required or not. You can bet Trump would hate to see distancing and masks. He might tell the audience they are weak to wear a mask. It doesn't make for good TV optics in his mindset.

Trump has moved on from Fauci because Fauci's world makes Trump look incompetent and factually incorrect. What's a pandemic here or there - just a destraction in Trump's reelection goal. Besides Trump has other fish to fry like keeping Confederate statues and bases named for Confederate heroes.

From what I've read, Trump is ok w/a split convention & the RNC having meetings in NC. He couldn't care less about the business of the RNC. He cares about his nomination acceptance speech to a full house not wearing masks on TV. I can't imagine that venues in Jacksonville or Savannah will be promised to some other group for that time - no one else is foolish enough to book that far in advance w/the predicted rise in cases due to re-openings at beach locations, protests, & the model used by the COVID19 task force. I agree it's not just the convention - it's the travel, airport shuttles, hotels, other delegates, hospitality suites, etc. that are petri dishes. Of course, Trump's disciples don't believe COVID19 exists so it doesn't bother them.

I still read Fauci's speeches to the exclusion of anything else re the pandemic. He's an articulate man w/significant knowledge & resources. Not much is changing in NYC; it's a ghost town & always is in August.

Dr. Fauci, Dr. Redfield, and 2 others testified before Congress today. When asked, they said it's been 2 and 1/2 weeks since they've talked with Trump on Covid. It's a good thing that Trump has successfully cleaned up the country of this pandemic. Certainly no need to meet with the specialists or have pressers on this, as Fauci and his stats and suggestions to wear masks are just silly and getting in the way of the reelection bid.

The good news is that I saw one person wearing a mask in Trump's gathering at the church in Arizona today. Remember that progress moves in increments of one mask at a time. They were packed in to the the church and cheering loudly. What could go wrong? Opening up America like never before.

Obviously, Trump isn't going to bring back Fauci. Instead, he's going to demonize & discredit him because the man 1) knows more about medicine than he does and 2) 75% Americans trust Fauci re Covid19 compared to 25% who trust Trump. He also refuses to allow Trump's narrative of "it's going away" to go unchallenged.

By releasing a list of 10 mistakes Fauci made early on to the Washington Post Saturday, Trump hopes to discredit the man who dared to correct him publicly lest incorrect information go to the American public. The list is partial statements & out of context statements Fauci made when he was first asked to advise the prez on a topic he didn't like. The WH staff is suggesting that Fauci is deliberately undermining Trump for political gain. Right. A 79 yr old physician w/a solid career advising 6 presidents now wants Trump's job. Insane or just petty.

Fauci hasn't spoken to Trump since May. However, he works for NIH & his job is to advise any city, state, or entity that requests his assistance re Covid19. No one needs Trump as a gateway to Fauci.

Good thing, because w/o Fauci, Trump has pressed governors to re-open prematurely causing a spike in cases, held rallies where his advance team, Secret Service agents, & son's girlfriend Guilfoyle have all been sickened (we still don't know about Don Jr), forced the RNC to move his "all seats filled" acceptance speech to an arena in Jacksonville because NC couldn't guarantee there wouldn't be a capacity cap in late August, & is now pressing schools to re-open to pretend all is normal against CDC guidelines w/what he considers "unreasonable" requirements like running water for hand washing, regular disinfecting when cleaning barely takes place, & working air filtration systems for an airborne virus.

With cases spiking in FL, the Jacksonville mayor is quarantined w/Covid19, restrictions have been re-imposed, hospitals are so full w/Covid19 patients that they're not allowed visitors, & that arena can't guarantee 100% capacity.

Who's the guy who's wrong here????

This is disgusting
Did Fauci say things initially that he later changed course on? Yes - It's called being open minded and learning from new information.

Personally, I'd like to see the Supreme Court slap a gag order on ALL POLITICIANS when it comes to Covid/Coronavirus. These types have no science background. Anything that comes out of any of their mouths is likely to be laced with rhetoric that supports their party or agenda. I wish that there was a Science TV Channel - where only Doctors and Scientists could share actual and useful information.

It's dangerous & disgusting.

Trump keeps talking about masks. He's obsessed w/them. Fauci's point in February was that until there was enough PPE for front-line medical staff, average people sheltering in place at home could wait. He never said masks don't work.

Fauci also was careful before answering questions to clarify exactly what circumstances he was talking about. In the early days, he constantly reminded us that other countries had a head start on us & we didn't know a lot but countries were sharing knowledge. How is that a mistake? He told the truth; that's what annoys Trump.

considering that Fauci is more popular than Trump right now I wonder how Trump thinks it will help him politically by publicly calling Fauci out.

of course, it will make his base did their heels in deeper but that is to be expected anyway

Trump is never wrong. He wants the schools open. He wants to pretend everything's normal. If he can make Fauci look mistaken or an alarmist, he wins. He also disagrees w/the CDC guidelines for re-opening & had Pence saying they were being revised. The CDC isn't revising its recommendations; it's pointing out that basic things like hand washing, disinfecting, & air filtration aren't feasible in many inner city schools across the country who don't have running water, regularly scheduled cleanings much less disinfectings, & windows that open. He's all over CDC Redfield, too.

If schools re-open in late August w/no vaccine, no treatment, and no real preventative measures, they'll have to close again. He's hoping cases won't spike until after the election.

Of course, the real purpose/satisfaction comes from discrediting someone who is smarter than he is & gets better press. Fauci's good press is a real irritant to Trump "according to sources in the WH." But, Trump's got Love Connection host Chuck Woolery in his corner per re-tweet. Who would you rather listen to about your health? a game show host, a reality TV star, or Fauci?

Trump is really throwing a tantrum. He's ordered hospitals to report Covid19 data directly to a new HHS database in DC instead of the data-tracking CDC starting tomorrow. Any suspicion that data's going to be manipulated w/o objective oversight by professional CDC data analysts?

In pursuit of getting Americans to believe the Trump Fantasy that Covid19 has disappeared, he's attacking Fauci's credibility, withdrawn from WHO, and now, is not allowing the CDC to collect hospital Covid19 data.

The man is dangerous. November looks far away & January even more so.

The pandemic started in March; it's now July - look what he's done in that amount of time. He still has 7 more months in office at least.

Everyone in DC seems to be under some sort of Trump haze. It's taken them all this time to maybe wear a mask sometimes. We certainly aren't going to see any 25th Amendment action from them.

I just saw an interview with the Russian in the WH. And to think people question Joe's mental capabilities. The interview was pathetic. He can't even dance around questions coherently. His responses to questions re: the Conferate Flag were a struggle, and he grabbed onto the First Ammendment as best he could. That was a challenge.

He may be incoherent, but is a master at getting revenge & waging a vendetta. Who would've thought the POTUS response to a pandemic of more than 3mm cases would be to not only abandon Americans but wage war on the premier expert in the country, withdraw from the WHO that was co-operating re global strategies & knowledge, disparage the CDC director, & divert actual data away from the experts so it could be manipulated for his political gain all because they are telling the truth that the virus isn't under control? And getting more positive press than he is for being candid.

He is desperate & acting out in ways that are dangerous for the people of this country. He is far from a leader in charge. His actions on a daily basis are dispicable. Hopefully the voters will throw him out and destroy his ego at the same time. Then hopefully there are grand juries that will catch up with him.

The REPUBLICAN governor of Oklahoma, Kevin Stitt, is symptomatic with COVID-19.

Crazy that a guy that attended Trump's rally last month would now be part of the Fauci-led hoax to make Trump look bad.

I bet Fauci called Hillary Clinton and begged her to orchestrate a bribe from George Soros to get Stitt to turn on Trump.

What a great rally. One big Covid party.

Looks like RNC is thinking about moving the events outside for the Jacksonville August convention when George Wallace Trump accepts his 2nd coronation. We all know that Jacksonville is smoking hot in August. I'll bet they hand out MAGA hand fans to those who party and sit through the coronation. Masks will probably be optional since it's in Florida, and Gov DeSantis is a Trump swallower. And after all, this Covid thing is just something we have to deal with says Trump as he also says we're just putting out embers, and it'll disappear.
