benghazi.....Yawn.

typical of liberals to dismiss what was my op. you look at this administration with rose colored glasses. he lied repeatedly about a protest that never happened and conned a huge portion of the American people. jonathan gruber is right. the voting public is pretty stupid.
so you are claiming that the republican party is covering up what happened in Benghazi. ok I got it. maybe there should be an investigation.
Hi Billy.

So I guess you don't vote?

Typical of conservatives to make unsubstantiated allegations, spend millions and millions of tax payer dollars "investigating" the allegations, find conclusions that do not support their wildly inaccurate claims, and then blame liberals.
Typical.
Congress is supposed to oversee the Executive branch. I'd much rather see them spend money on functions spelled out in the Constitution than on backing up worthless housing loans, for instance. Maybe the best advice is to stop furnishing situations that could lead to an investigation.

That is not the answer alloak and you know it. The answer is for both sides of the aisle to stop the witch hunts against ourselves. When either side does that, it's civil war within our government.

No matter who is presiding, when a red flag appears I want to see the situation looked into. I'm not the GOP fanatic people here make me out to be. My view is not D's vs R's, but of the government as a whole and I want to see messes cleaned up if need be.

Respectfully, Pat, if I may observe, you've done quite a good job over the years making yourself out to appear that way over thousands of posts. You may not be. I believe you, but there's thay whole thing about perceptions...
I'm not throwing stones, I'm not the Democrat fanatic people have made me out to be, but I can certainly understand the labeling as it seems to dominate everything these days.
The political arena has been quite poisoned over the last 20-25 years or so, and all we (the collective societal we) do basically is yell at each other. There really isn't much discussion or debate, just mindless emotional banter much like the fanbases of hated rival sports teams. At this point, it really is a mindless, worthless exercise that really just sates the need that many of us have for a good argument, regardless of the subject matter.

Well, they certainly didn't skimp on investigating this one, so I guess you should be happy.

I believe you. But despite the blunders regarding the explanation of the attack, it was ridiculous to insinuate that we denied them adequate security and/or had a delayed response for help. They were victims of an unfortunate terrorist attack, and Obama failed to properly communicate what happened. But the Republicans positioned it as much worse simply because they were desperate to create a scandal. Both sides are guilty of this garbage. I just wish everyone could call the B.S. when we see it, regardless of what side is doing it. I can surely admit that the left was guilty of it with Bush, and with Christie's bridge-gate. It'd be nice if the right can admit they were wrong about Benghazi....they basically called Obama a murderer.

Perhaps if the media would step up and do their job. In large part, they don't take their job as government watchdog too seriously. Increasingly, it's being undertaken by people like James O'Keefe and Rich Weinstein. By and large the MSM is not interested in investigative reporting, and the one's still showing an interest get their phones tapped and their computers hacked.
Believe this or don't. Regardless of who is responsible for government wrongdoing, I want to see the guilty party held accountable and the mess cleaned up. If it hurts the GOP, too bad. We deserve so much better than we're getting.

Who in the US media has been tapped/hacked, and who is doing hacking/tapping?

The mainstream media got this one right from the start. Fox News ran with this as a scandal for months. This may well have died out much sooner if not for their constant referral to the Benghazi Scandal. Reporting news is a good thing. Trying to make a story that isn't there does not serve the public.

Yeah, but, there's no one in the "MSM" that everyone trusts.
If an investigative reporter who works for an organization with a preconceived bias (real or not, at different levels or not), then how different people process that reporting differs wildly.
Who on the left wing is going to 100% believe something from a right wing news source? Who on the right is going to 100% something from a left wing news source? Conversely, all it really does is solidify one's personal trust in the news sources that first and foremost cater to one's own personal belief.
Speaking in a hypothetical sense, you watch/read a story on Fox News or in the WSJ that rips into a Democrat. I watch/read a story on MSNBC or in the NYT that rips a Republican. Given the void of humility in the political arena, it's first and foremost not about the actual truth of the story, it's about whether or not you or me are willing to admit that "one of our guys" might be wrong or have done something wrong. On the flip side, we are already going in to that story looking to solidify what we already want to believe. "See, Obama really is a socialist traitor!" "See, Bush really is a lawless idiot!"

And my guess is that the GOP will still use this in negative attack advertisements...especially if HC runs.

Why you all could not possibly be under the illusion that the Republicans would just let this go?

it is amazing how many people have better access to classified intelligence than the 6 committee's that have investigated this so far. I wish some of them would go before congress and testify. LOL
Well, reporters get the info, because like musicians, they just gotta know!
