Okay. I'm 74 and an old hippie from late 60's and 70's and socialism (nationalizing some segments of the economy such as banking, healthcare, energy companies not social security etc) was so anti American and repugnant. Back then socialism was China, Soviet Union, Cuba, East Germany etc and of course communism or complete socialism with everything nationalized. I'm like Jim Clyburn (D-SC) and it seems so foreign and dangerous to consider any degree of socialism. Of course Sanders, AOC and others say its democratic socialism they support. Socialism but in a democracy. Presumably that means the voters could vote it out if it began to step on people's freedoms and rights.
Bernie and AOC signaling banning gasoline and diesel powered vehicles by 2030 was so intimidating to me and others my age I know. America does not BAN people's cars!!! We are suppose to be about as much freedom and rights as possible including marriage equality. Americans don't want some far left democratic socialist telling us when we can fly on Delta, what kind of car we drive or where we live and we don't want to be thrown in the deep end by open borders and no or weak police departments.
I watched Biden speak today and he does not support open borders and people flocking to the border on inauguration day will not find border security dismantled. And quicker and more humane way to apply for asylum yes but don't expect to find a border that is not secured and policed.
As to the Georgia election isn't the Reverend a self proclaimed socialist and anti capitalist? His sermons at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta supposedly have him preaching that. I couldn't vote for him. Jim Clyburn or Barrack Obama absolutely but not him. I'm not a McConnell fan but he isn't a radical socialist and has known and worked with Biden for years.

I was a happy 8 year old in 1954 watching The Lone Ranger, Superman and I Love Kucy on TV. The only thing that was scary was communism and Duck and Cover films at school and an occasional nightmare about Russia dropping an A bomb on Manhattan while I was there which was often. My folks were happy and proud Americans. I didn't have a clue at 8 years old what it was like for African Americans or gays or Hispanics or the kind of trouble and jail time you got for having just a dime bag of marijuana. Making sure there is equality and opportunity to experience the American dream for everyone regardless of race, gender or sexuality.

Actually I'll be too old to drive after 2030 so maybe I wouldn't be impacted if gas cars are banned in 2030. I just hate to see things the far left doesn't like banned including gas cars, the Washington Monument and Mount Rushmore.

If something happens to Biden and the younger socialists Dems get power in both chambers, the country could be moved too far to the left and into baseline socialism. Social Security, Medicare, Food Stamps, Welfare etc is NOT baseline socialism. That happens when you nationalize parts of the economy such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, banking, energy. Those four have been mentioned by Sanders and others.
Then you may get open borders ( all people who want to become a US citizen should be put on the fasttrack and allowed in but legally), abolition of ICE and border patrol, abolition of prisons, no bail ( released immediately or kept in jail until trail depending on offence), defunding police departments and some calling for abolishing police departments then reimagine how policing should be done. President Obama and Jim Clyburn (D-SC) recently slammed that. Obama said " If my mother in law is being broken into....who is she suppose to call?". Obama and Clyburn were attacked by AOC and other fall left Democrats. I ASSURE YOU YOU DO NOT WANT TO LIVE IN A CITY WITH NO OR WEAKENED POLICE DEPARTMENT!!!

Just curious if you've ever taken any courses in Economics and truly studied the differences in societies and market implications of say capitalism vs socialism vs communism, etc? It's a fascinating revelation once one gets beyond the nature of buzz words and understands the differences in these political & economic theories.

I'm all for government Covid bailouts. I would call it Emergency Wellfare. Or a "gift". Its not socialism or an entitlement or Gov't obligation. In the 2008 financial collapse banks and insurance companies got emergency welfare or a bailout.

Don't you think Bernie and AOC want to nationalize energy companies and power companies for...POWER. The power to shut down fossil fuel companies and private power companies. ConEdison in New York would be replaced by a power company co-owned by the US government and the workers who must be members of a labor union and carry out strict orders mandated by the federal government to produce electricity generation by solar panels and windmills. Worker ownership would apparently only concern working conditions, promotions, equality and fairness at the work place etc but the federal government gives the marching orders. It alone decides how the electricity is generated.
In short every section of the economy the government nationalizes will be controlled and mandated by the federal government.

People like AOC and Bernie Sanders want to tell us how to live, what we drive, when we must take mass transit, whether or not we can take a business trip. Certain business trips will be banned and one will be forced to conduct the meeting on zoom in your office or at your home. Tell you when you can fly in a jetliner and require you to plant a tree to offset your carbon footprint if you do fly.
Just read the Green New Deal! Half of it isn't about climate change but economic justice, social justice, guaranteeing all a living wage and a living space that is carbon neutral even if you are unable to work or refuse to work. Mandate a diet that avoids beef due to methane and climate change. Guareenting a job to everyone, upgrading all existing buildings, providing high quality free healthcare to all and free higher education to all, 100 percent of power electricity generation from clean renewables by 2030. Building out high speed rail at a scale where air travel becomes unnecessary. What? I don't want to go from New York to LA on a train even if it's going 300 mph and is non stop all the way to Los Angeles. I want to fly United Airlines.

BP Oil company is installing quick charge stations for electric cars at their service stations and is the largest installer of windmills in Europe. Ford will only build electric cars in 2035. United Airlines will be zero neutral by 2050 with much more fuel efficient engines run on a mix of kerosene and biomass with a carbon capture apparatus catching what little CO2 is coming out the exhaust. Free market capitalism will solve climate change.

Trump plays golf when he can to get away from the stress of Washington. He's not coming back to NY to live. Ivanka and Jared per the NY Post, just bought a home at Indian Creek Shores in Miami [30+ million dollars]. The community has 36 residencies and 13 full time policemen. It is an hour away from Daddy's place in Palm Beach. So they will be based in Florida, which does not tax personal income and has no bizarre snow/rain/wind storms to contend with. They wouldn't have bought something there if Trump was not leaving the White House. He does not give up until every last thing has been tried, but at this point he's the underdog vs. The deep state.

Does Don Jr. try to fill the moronic shoes and keep the cause for truth, justice, and the American way going? Many critical questions need to be answered.
