Animals are A$$holes, Too!

Okay, maybe "a$$hole" is too strong a term, but I just witnesses some pretty disturbing animal behavior.
I was on my morning walk when I heard LOUD flapping of large wings. I turned to see (right over my head!) a large, Great Blue Heron being aerially attacked by a pair of crows. The crows were picking at the heron - who got tripped up in some overhead utility wires before plummeting HARD to the sidewalk right next to me! The sound! Think of dropping a 20 lb. grocery store turkey from 25 feet or so. That's the sound it made on impact. I started over to the heron to see if it was alright but the crows were still circling and cawing. I did not want to get my eyes pecked out.
Is this standard, typical behavior for these crows? Or is this some "end of days" stuff?

Ouch - that indeed had to be upsetting to see
Unusual it isn’t, they’re always chowing down on roadkill etc

Crazy ass crows!
I regularly see crows chasing and harassing osprey, vultures and even eagles. They’re very aggressive. Not sure what their game is.

Crows are part of the covid family. Aggressive and smart. Kind of like the virus we're facing.
