1-6-21

Posted by: @nebishPosted by: @ginaThat's what's really going on.
These must be exciting times for you Gina. So much for conspiracy, so much for conjecture, anything and everything appears possible over the next week.
Unwanted excitement.
“One Boogaloo movement follower indicated the building with the snipers would need to be blown up in order to protect Boogaloo fighters in the event of a gun battle during the event,” the report states. Another planned to “put colored duct tape on the back of his body armor to appear as law enforcement and cause confusion.”
hough the report notes that these Minnesota-based boogaloo movement supporters did not mention any specific plots for an attack on Jan. 17, it says they planned to use violence if fighting occurred at the rally, and “at least one follower expressed his willingness to die for the Boogaloo movement.”
Meanwhile, in Michigan, another follower of the boogaloo movement “suggested the idea of using a gasoline-based device with a tripwire in Lansing, Michigan to cause a distraction while other individuals ‘take’ the capitol,” according to the same FBI alert. This individual “considered himself at war with the government, particularly with politicians and federal agents, and wanted to make a statement with the actions.”

I do not think it is necessary to Impeach Trump. He is leaving office on the 20th. They seem so afraid that he might run for re-election again and maybe win, that is what is at the crux of the matter. If he has that much of a following, they are not likely to just go away and forget about him, he started a movement.
If he cannot hold office do you think there will be no one else to run in the election and further his agenda? Some of which has been to secure our border (with the WALL which he did get built), outlaw abortion, etc.
People will have to re-define patriotism, and core American values.

Thought I was fairly current on this stuff, this is the 1st I’ve heard of the boogaloo movement tho
Inauguration Day is shaping up to be fraught w/tension & frayed nerves - hopefully not itchy trigger fingers too - underground extremists & neo-militia groups could cause a lot of trouble

Posted by: @ginaIn case nobody has noticed, the onset of demonstrations will be Sunday January 17th.
Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
Wednesday after that is the Inauguration.
Please stop assuming we don't read, listen to, or watch the news or know how to read a calendar w/federal holidays. It's insulting that you jump in like you're a special reporter to morons.
Your opinion posts are what discussion forums are for - opinions. They contribute to whatever dialogue is going on. Just quit the news briefs.

w/all due respect cyclone88, Gina’s opinions imo are informative & constructive - I like the approach in her posts, whether news briefings, a little off the wall or whatever - not trying to kiss up to anyone or make anyone mad, just my .02 worth🤙✌️
just saw it, it’s the same old thing - Trump Is Impeached - whoop de do -
thanks btw for your previous explanations of the impeachment process, believe I have a better handle now on how it works
according to axios, Trump has publicly asked for calm. no violence & a peaceful transition in the coming days - heed people heed

Great, you like all she posts. I only think gina's opinions add to discussions. What I find insulting is the news briefings as if no one else is aware of when MLK Day is or didn't read headlines 5 days ago.
Since we're in new territory here, no one knows how this 2nd impeachment & trial work. I started a new topic to discuss it for anyone interested. Frankly, I'm fine w/just the impeachment. The legislative branch stood up to the Executive & said "you incited an insurrection against the country when you've sworn to uphold its laws." When and if the trial occurs doesn't matter. He's been legally & lawfully held accountable.

Saw the speech. It was good.
It’s sad that the only speech Trump ever gave that was unifying, and had a positive message, was today - after all that
he said he was dismayed by the violence but he tweeted I love you to the rioters after the insurrection
until now, he has sought to divide the country and belittle his opponents
I’m glad he gave that speech. I hope his followers listen. I suspect he was put up to it to try and stop the bleeding. I still don’t trust him and thinks he should be indicted once he leaves office

Yeah....I see both sides of the argument, the cause to impeach and the ones that say what is the point. As for future political aspirations, the guy got 74 million votes, so he is pretty viable, but I too find it hard to believe he would ever run or get elected to anything again. Whatever, they seek impeachment to make sure. As for the here and now, it's less than a week, but there is justified fear that he might do something or say (instigate) something that needs cut off at the pass. I heard one representative say they need to impeach him before inauguration day because of the pending protests. To that person I'd ask, 'don't you think impeachment might further stimulate the protesters of their cause'. I don't know any more. I really don't know. He's not going to be removed in the Senate, who isn't even meeting until next week.
Somebody could very well pick up the Trump mantle and see what they can do with it. Something tells me though that he has some kind of magic spell over these people that will be difficult for anyone else to duplicate in terms of meaningful votes.

Posted by: @stormyriderSaw the speech. It was good.
Problem was...it was one week too late right?
Such is Trump. Bull in china shop, break everything then sometimes come back and say he's sorry and he really didn't want to destroy everything...only to do it again some short time later.
You can't believe anything the guy says. I watched the 1-6-21 speech, all of it. He does say they will march "peacefully and patriotically" at the 13 minute mark, but then there is a whole bunch of other parts where he is chumming the water for these people.
These people. That is ultimately where I come down at. The people that did this. Sure some want to crucify Trump for all of it. I want to crucify the people that actually did it. I care less about whomever or whatever gave them the idea to do it, I care about punishing the ones that should be judged by their actions. Firing squad mabye? I think the consequences for these types of things are too lenient. If whatever his name from whatever group knew that if they stormed the capital the likelihood they would never come back alive was a real risk, would they do it? More people need shot. If it happens again, I hope a bunch of rioters get carried out in body bags. Maybe that would deter the next wannabe revolutionaries.

The speech was 4 years too late. Our leaders should try to unite, not divide
yes, the people who did this need to be punished. They were clearly instigated by our leaders
its ok to question and investigate. They should. It’s not ok for our political leaders to undermine principles of our institutions. It’s not ok to repeatedly lie and fabricate. Trump and his enablers undermined our democracy and there have to be some sort of consequences
this wasn’t nearly making a speech to rile up supporters they knew who the audience was
impeachment is justified. Others in Congress should also have some sort of consequences as well.

@nebish We needed this tone from him LAST WEEK. He should have enclosed:
PS - All that stuff about a "landslide victory" - I was lying about that.
Hopefully, cooler and saner heads and thoughts will prevail. It's time to heal.

Posted by: @ginaPosted by: @martind28Posted by: @ginaFlash bang grenades and tear gas deployed on the outside of the Capital Bldg. To clear people off the steps. The military don't fuk around. If they have to clear a crowd they do it. National Guard on the job.
It's not a "crowd" as you indicated. It's a "mob" incited to perform violence by the whack job of a president you are enamored with. Your posts over the last 4 years show your support, admiration, and giving passes for Trump.
It was a group of 25,000 supporters who came to rally in DC. The Women for Trump organized busses for people to come. They came to peacefully rally but a small contingent wanted to flex their muscle and have their say at the Electoral voting proceedings. Were they trespassing? Probably since they did not have invitations or appointments to speak at the proceedings.
If the situation were reversed and Trump was being re-nominated, I think based on past performance protests, BLM might have burned down the Capital building.
As incensed as some are, there was no graffiti, and no violence other than breaking in the building. Did they loot Pelosi's office? No. They left a note that they would not back down, meaning accept what they think was a deceptive fraudulent election. Did they leave her office in shambles? No white people don't do that.
This may be the most racist thing I have ever read on this board.

Posted by: @ginaPosted by: @marcoGina, are you kidding me ? you post " Need to show some dignity." and follow it up in another post with "No white people don't do that." Not Dignified .
Marco, I gave the woman, Ashli Babbit the benefit of the doubt that she was an innocent casualty. It turns out she was shot while trying to break the door into the chamber where the the votes were to take place. She was shot while with others trying to break the door down, and she was gung-ho about doing that before going to Washington.
I still maintain there is a difference in the styles of violence of protesters. It may be because of cultural upbringing differences. Poor people particularly minorities learn to solve their problems with violence and fighting. Even someone I had worked with explained it, in the black neighborhoods if we have a problem we fight to solve it. We will go home and get family to come out and get in it. We don't call the cops. White people call the cops, or if they have money they call their lawyers. We settle it right there in the hood. If the cops come nobody saw anything. We handle it ourselves.
Look at protest marches which are the culmination of years of disenfranchisement.
The violence we have seen and will see is now para or ex military and militia led.
Ban worthy. This is straight racist.
Yeah those “white people” last week didn’t call the police, they killed them. You may be right about the lawyers though. Many will need one as they face sedition charges for crimes against the United States
Your girl, poor little Ashli? A Qanon freak who wrote in her journal that morning that the attack was “The Storm”, Qanon mythology about the day Trump kills all the Democrats and Republicans who “ betrayed” him.
She was told not to come through the door. She came. Fucked around and found out.
She must have read the racist Turner Diaries, the novel that calls for race war with the “ Day of the Rope” when the victorious racists hang all the race traitors.
What the actual fuck?

@gina the Capitol rioters did leave Pelosi's office in shambles. They also looted it, taking documents and laptops. There was a great deal of desturction done, including spreading urine and feces. You need some fresh news sources.
I think it's telling when people compare the MAGA Capitol riot with BLM protests. Not only are they not comparable since one is social and the other is mostly political, but the belief that the opposite of being a pro-Trump patriot is caring about the lives of innocent minorities says a lot about the person. Point the finger at someone else, and you get three pointing right back at you.
The closest parallel is the peaceful protests that took place after the 2016 election, during which the greatest outrage involved pink knitted hats.

I think once the demonstrations start we will face at least of week of uprisings, violence, deaths etc.
Fortunately there is no evidence of demonstrations as yet
trump’s supporters are giving him a send off rally that morning (Wed.) at Andrews AFB - hopefully that will help to minimize potential violence at the Capitol
repub/dem, liberal/cnsrvtv, hawk/dove.....NO ONE wants violence to mar this grand American tradition of Inauguration Day
———
controversially, according to a Nikki Haley post, avowed socialist Bernie Sanders will become chairman of the senate budget committee - oh dear, shiver me timbers etc

Whatever happens is a precursor to 1-20-21.
Naturally I'm thankful peace prevailed today.
If anyone was going to try anything today in Washington would be straight up suicide. Never seen a harder target than DC today.
Just like we have done with the radical islamic extremists globally, our domestic terrorists need disrupted and tracked to best stop any plans before they can execute and get people plotting illegal and violent activity out of civil society with the means available to our law enforcement agencies.
