I will say something that means something but then I'd be trying too hard.
Besides, only Yogi could say it like that.
Thanks, Yog.
It was a truly great run.

I've never been into the hero thing, but if I was then Yogi would be one of mine. I watched Yogi when I was young kid and admired his play as a Yankee. He has (never say "had") a wonderful way with words!!! To one of the best always.

"You can observe a lot by just watching." Got to see Yogi in his first coaching job with the Yankee's.
Ride in peace, Yogi.

Rest in peace.

I use these two Berra quotes all the time:

When you come to a fork in the road, take it.

No one goes there nowadays, it’s too crowded.

RIP to a great ballplayer and a great man

my wife's dad used to sell clothes to atheletes and other celbrities of that era. Many came from out of town, some were invited home for dinner, some became regular guests. The result was that as a kid my wife met many famous people.
Her favorites, by a long shot, were Yogi and his constant companion, Joe Garagiola. They are always genuinely nice and fun to be around. They used to play catch with her and her brothers. In short, they were just great guys.

RIP

In honor of the greatness of the Yog- "If I could talk about it then I couldn't really say it. If you get my gist."

Developed my youthful (and continuing) baseball crush when Mickey, Yogi and Whitey were the stars in New York. At my very first game in Sept. 1959 Yogi homered against the Orioles. In '73 witnessed Berra manage the Mets to a Game 2 World Series win against the A's (the famous Mike Andrews game).

From the time of his Yoohoo commercials ("me hee for Yoohoo") thru the wonderful Aflac spot ("they give you cash which is just as good as money") Yogi was that down to earth, wise and sparkling soul, in addition to being one of the best contact hitters in baseball history (only 12 strikeout in over 656 plate appearances in 1950).

Yogi, can't say I'll miss you. You will always be part of American and baseball folklore.

Was born in the Bronx, and have been a Yankee fan since 1956. It is truly a sad day for many of us. Wow... he out lived Mantle by 20 years. He was one of the biggest legends in baseball.

Speaking of The Tag with Jackie Robinson at home, I wonder if they ever have analyzed that footage with todays photo technology? Was that the '55 World Series? What would the outcome have been if Robinson were out?

He probably has now....

Reminds me of his wife asking him whether he wanted to be buried in New York, New Jersey or St Louis. He replied, "I don't know - surprise me!"

I just saw something on that, the yankees won the game as it turned out but lost the series in 7 games.

This was at a time when the teams and umpires would all hang out together in the same restaurants after games
and on the road. This had to be a blast.

It was the first game of the 1955 WS -- too close to call in my view but Yogi sure raised a stink
year before, Mays' amazing catch off Vic Wertz at Polo Grounds -- year after, Don Larson's perfecto -- year after that, Lew Burdette & Braves -- & on into GoGo Sox, Mazeroski anon in the great game of bball...
