Wow, just awful.

Maybe Tom Petty can sue for the song and name drop in such an awful song.

Sad.

I bet it does really well also. But it could be Miley Cyrus singing it.

It has taken years to create this album. While the Aerosmith guys sit around.

If you thought that was bad. This is funnier as the video has "Down Home Steven" just in from a cattle drive.

Also, he is 68 years old. I guess you're never too old for summertime love. Today that is practically considered country music.

Those lyrics are horrible. I'm sure he used some modern country writers because everything sounds like everything else and Tyler has rarely written songs on his own over the past 30 years. The place where we grocery shop sometimes plays modern country over their PA and these songs sound just like everything else on that station. Thankfully that is my only exposure to mainstream country these days.

This sort of reminds me of a Pete Townshend comment on solo records put out by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, he said something along the lines of:

"you can occasionally take the Mick out of Mick, but you cannot take the Keith out of Keith."

I'd find it very hard to believe Joe Perry would so something so, well, like this...

I can see myself being really slammed in this thread. But I didn't think the song was bad at all. Not something I'm going to run out and buy, but I actually kind of enjoyed it, it's got a LOT of energy, like a lot of Aerosmith's best stuff. No, I'm not saying it compares with Aerosmith's best, but I thought it was a pretty good song.

I admit that it sounds like a lot of the horrible Bro Country that is being put out these days. And if it was country, I'd say, hey, that jerk is trying to sound like Aerosmith. But it's not country............it's the guy from Aerosmith.

No going to slam anyone as all ears are built differently, and I can see why it would be really popular.

Aerosmith's rebirth in the mid-80's was a different sound from their prime 70's years, but there were still some great moments in the 20 years that followed, and live they were still great. However, each progressive album after I'd say Pump (maybe even started Permanent Vacation, and excluding Honkin...) moved their sound more and more to the pop-rock side of rock & roll. There were still great moments but they got progressively fewer with each album. So Tyler has always been leaning more and more toward a pop sound.

To me, the song "Red White & You" starts with a horrible title and works its way down from there. The production and music is pure bro-country and lyrically it's that and worse. I'm not sure who the writers are, but my guess it is Tyler with some of the usual country suspects. It just sounds like every song on modern country radio. If that's your thing, then so be it. I just think Tyler is capable of so much more, even in the country genre if that is what he wants to do. Even at their worst Aerosmith would laugh off these lyrics... Loverboy would laugh off these lyrics...

You pulling me a little bit closer / Heart beating like a big bass drum / We spinning on a roller coaster / A “Free Fallin’” into your yum yum / All the bad girls rockin’ those cut off jeans / And good old boys driving Big Machines / And you can kiss my ass, can’t help but say / It’s good to be “Born in the USA”

If it sounds like Aerosmith it is because Tyler's voice is so distinct. As an Aerosmith fan, it is disappointing that he is going this direction. It just seems like an attempt to stay more famous than just being a rock star. However, so many artists in many different genres turn to country when they are wanting to stay in the public spotlight. It just feels like Tyler wants to be a star, and not just a rock star. This is the direction he feels will keep him a star. More power to him though, it's a huge audience to have support you.

The song that CanadianMule shared was written for Steven, so I wonder how much he is involved in the songwriting of his first solo album. It's been so long since Tyler has written a song without outside help, I wonder if the well is dry.

Again, results may vary.
