Did I miss any highlights?
Nice assortment of highlights, great write up, it was another great run.
The audio quality on those videos is pretty brutal, borderline unlistenable at times. There is way better quality audio at archive.org https://archive.org/details/ttb2016-10-07.mk6.edtyre
I went Saturday, Tuesday (w/Dave Mason) and again Saturday (final night). Maybe it was the disappointment of missing Warren joining them on Friday, but I thought last night was the weakest of the shows I saw. Anyone else think the final night was a let down?
Wow. I will have to listen to last nights show but I literally just stopped in to post that it looked like the best of the run on paper.
Was it the set lists or the performance that you didn't like?

Went to all 6 nights and this to me was the best TTB Beacon run yet.
I found great music in each show but I agree last night's show wasn't as strong as the other 5. I could have done without Doyle II singing and playing the harmonica. That guy just doesn't do it for me.
Susan's guitar playing just keeps getting more impressive to me and combined with her heartfelt singing just knocks it out of the park. I got full doses of Derek each night that was thrilling for me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one not into Doyle, he adds nothing to the band for me. He doesn't detract, he's just so milquetoast, super generic blues Strat guitar guy.
Susan scorches. She brings down the roof in a really unique way.

Hard to put my finger on it, and I am admittedly splitting hairs. The folks I went with witnessed their first of the run last night and loved it. For me, Doyle Bramhall was a huge buzz kill versus my expectations. I knew Warren would be the best of the guests, but I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised ......obviously I wasn't.
Second, the improvisation last night reached points where it was so individualized that many of the other band members were standing around with looks of bewilderment. One example was a sax solo (which are normally great) which drifted to a place where it was just downright odd ....
Don't get me wrong, the show was wildly entertaining and the band really puts out. I just think last night the band missed a chance to really exploit the crowd enthusiasm and blow the roof off the place. They got there at the end when they finished with the list below ........I just wish they had gotten to this level before they did.
Sing a Simple Song
(Sly & The Family Stone cover)
I Want to Take You Higher
(Sly & The Family Stone cover)
Encore:
Anyhow
With a Little Help From My Friends
(The Beatles cover)
Went to Friday's show with Warren and thought I'd post a few observations.
1) Sat in Orch row R. Orchestra folks stood for whole show. 3 hours of music. More folks standing than ABB Beacon shows I have been too.
2) Long weekend Trip to NYC with my wife who likes TTB. TTB becoming more jam oriented (I see about 3-4 shows a year) which is great for folks like me who really appreciate Susan but really want to hear Derek rip it up. Ultimate jam concert with Warren putting it over top. I would close my eyes and it was March or October 2014. My wife beginning to lose interest as Less Susan and more Derek.
3) beautiful rendition of the Beatles "something".

Goals....

Just listened to 10/7 show and I can totally agree. All That I Need and Don't Miss Me were great examples of this. Other than that, sounded like a damn good time...
posted on another thread, sorry for what is mostly, but not entirely a repeat.
Went Friday, strong show. Sat in the balcony for the 1st time- was in the Orchestra for ABB in 2013 and Hot Tuna in 2011. Definitely less energy in the balcony
Derek was playing more straight than slide - would have like more slide, but I think that's just the way the set list turned out
All That you Need and the Storm were highlights from the 1st set.
Something was also great - Derek's solo was short but perfect - homage to George but added his own sound.
2nd set started out great with Ali and never faltered. It seemed like Derek's solo in MIH was a little shorter than I was used to, same with Bound for Glory, but I suspect he was leaving time because he knew what was coming.
Couldn't believe it when Warren came out. I got the chills when they started Soul Serenade. Had to Cry today was a great closer
Someone posted a pic of the printed s/l on the FB site. From what I gather, Soul Serenade was spontaneous - it wasn't on the set list and they had planned on Space Captain as a 2nd encore tune (curfew is MN I think).
listening to 10-01, awesome show
can't wait for the Orpheum show in December

I Got A Feeling into LIz Reed:
THis is "Preaching Blues" into "Keep On Growing" with Warren:
Epic "Idle Wind" from the final night. It DOES have the drum solo in it, alas, but there is also a lot of Derek soloing:
"Had to Cry Today" with Warren, good quality:
Lovely black and white footage of Warren and Derek side by side serving up the "Soul Serenade."
I tried to post videos that had good sound and visual quality while also being good performances.
This last video I will post is "All I Need." This one is fuzzy with some shakes, and it ends VERY abruptly, which is a heartbreaker, but it is a very good performance. I will admit that I do not always appreciate it when Derek brings a ripping song down into a quiet zone; I think that sometimes he de-rails a really good groove that the crowd was riding. However, to his credit, he does usually take it someplace interesting. That is what happens here:

The Oct 4 "Idle Wind" drum break was jaw dropping. Best moment I've seen from these two drummers, the crowd seemed to be holding their breathe. A highlight of the night for sure.

I have to say, Derek slowing his solo down on rocking songs is starting to bug me too. Keep On Growing, All That I Need, Leaving Trunk... These are great songs and it's kind of weird when he slows them down to slow exploratory jams. It would be nice to just hear a straight up fast groove on these. Slow jams work the best on slow songs.
