Warren Haynes Band, London Islington Assembley Halls...01/07/25.

Had the great pleasure of catching the first date of WHB European Tour last night in a hot and sticky London.

That's What Love Will Make You Do

First time I saw Warren was in Dickey's band at a club in North Carolina in 1988. Wasn't surprised he was hired for the Allman Brothers Band in 1989.
Remember the first Gov't Mule show I saw in 1994. And seeing in 1993 Warren's solo tour and I bought his album.
The first Gov't Mule album has my favorite Gov't Mule song on it. Mother Earth.
When Warren left the Allman Brothers Band in 1997 I hoped he would do well. The Allman Brothers Band drew good crowds but in the 90's they were not as big as they were in the early and mid 1970's. Yes it was uncanny to have watched Gregg, Dickey, Butch and Jaimoe filling up big Coliseums and sometimes stadiums and Eat A Peach selling over 2 million copies then Brothers and Sisters selling over 7 million then in the 1980's Gregg and Dickey back in bars and night clubs. Unbelievable!!
But Warren is a well known and respected musician now able to draw good crowds on both continents.
And it's a pleasure to have witnesses his career.
I'm sure that UK show was superb.

@robertdee I first saw Warren in the early 80's when he played with David Allen Coe. They opened for the ABB at the Fox theater in Atlanta. Of course I didn't realize I had seen Warren Haynes then until years later when he was a member of the ABB and I read that he had played with DAC.

I saw David Allen Coe once in the late 1970's. A friend had one of his albums and I liked it. So I went. Lots of bikers but some of their patches had the "N"word as did a couple of songs. That was too much for a liberal hippie and I felt uncomfortable. My only time to see Coe.
So naturally I too was surprised Warren was in the Coe band. But as Warren has since explained, he didn't know what he was getting into. Warren was recommended by someone and Coe needed at guitar player immediately and Warren, if I remember correctly, had only been in local club bands so it was a break for Warren.
Warren also explained he eventually became uncomfortable himself and moved on.

Warren is right.

Warren Haynes still has hopes to bring reunited with his red Stratocaster with the red headstock and Eric Clapton mid range boost which was stolen in 1992 right off the stage at a concert.
