@porkchopbob Not really sure if you do, especially if you do have others, as the band was remarkably consistent during this time.

My son is coming in for a visit from LA. We're going to wait to listen to it until the 29th. Have a celebration of the Brother all day long. Should be a blast! Might even carve a pumpkin. A sad day, but to look at all the happiness he gave us, it's wild. So fortunate.

Sounds like a good time hanging out and enjoying all things Allman Brothers.  I've done something similar when I loaded up my 5 disc cd player with with ABB, Gregg, Dickey and Devon and hit shuffle.  It was a good day!  You and your son enjoy yourselves and play it Loud and Proud!  The road goes on forever... Bearded

Just listened to it after looking at it on the table for a week or so.

Get this out of the way first: terrible fidelity and tape speed glitchy.  Still glad to have the chance to hear it.

The best thing and the saving grace is just how great both Duane and Dickey are playing.  Fully formed.  Too bad the songs are short. Too bad we don’t get Duane’s improv on IMOER. Still grateful to hear it.

Quite chilled by Duane’s comment on the Whipping Post requests in light of his short time left, “some things we just don’t have control over.”

If Atlanta Pop film never gets out there someone should be horse-whipped.

Interesting, and I never thought of it that way. But very true. Really, when it comes down to what show I’ll listen to from the era, I really just end up checking setlists for what songs I want to hear. Not so much “ohh, this one is a stellar performance above the rest.”

I read your post to remark on the consistency in a good way. I certainly think it was a good thing. Consistently really good music. One could suggest th he could’ve rearranged songs or changed approach, etc. But after 35-50 years of the band who would do that. And JUST IMAGINE they pissedoffedness on this board if they significantly rearranged one of the classics.

I will just add that is one of the cool things about listening to the old archive releases of the original 5. You can hear the band change approach, mature, and refine/change their musical voice as time passes. But, that’s what to expect from a young band with young guys. That makes listening to different shows with the same 5-7 songs actually a very fun experience some of those songs are played quite differently.

Somewhere in 1971 Duane and Dickey swapped solos on Statesboro Blues.  I've heard several audience tapes with Dickey first and Duane second all after Fillmore Eaat was released.

I noticed in 1972 the dual guitar climb up just before Duane's solo on Done Somebody Wrong was dropped by the 5 man band and never noticed it again until Warren and Derek brought it back sometime during the last lineup.

Not interested in the very least in a recording for which the source was a cassette recorder, no matter how much it's been cleaned up.  That one is for only the very hard core ABB "historians".  And remember something:  If Gregg Allman were alive, this never ever would have come close to seeing the light of day.  To me it might even tarnish the ABB legacy somewhat to be releasing something that muddy, although I admit I have never heard it.

As for the Erie, PA 2005, yes, I'm interested in picking that up.  I love the musicianship of that era and of course that one was taken off of the soundboard.  Gregg would have approved as he did of the many Instant Lives out there.  And when band members are saying it was such a tremendous show, that's good enough for me.

Yes robslob. I too doubt Gregg would have allowed this release. Especially if his vocals were muddy and difficult to hear.

But on the other hand I'm sure Gregg would want to hear his brother's last show and reports are Duane and Dickey are knocking it out of the park.

Also Gregg repeatedly over the years and even just before he died said his brother was the best guitarist he ever heard. I always thought he would have said that even if they were not related.

I bought this alongside the 05 Erie show, which is pure gold. I've gone back to it 3-4x already. I was bracing for sonic disparity between the 2 based off comments here, but alas it is far more glaring than I had anticipated.

The Final Note will likely remain a curiosity for me, at best, sitting there available to revisit if I ever have some random thought or question about that era of the band I need satisfied.

Just listened last night. Someone is saying "Test...Testing" during Statesboro Blues. Assume it is the cassette recorder owner.

As audience recordings go I have worse but this one is not much better.

Can hear Gregg's vocals better that I was expecting and can usually hear most of the notes in the solos. No doubt the band is strong at this show and lots of energy.

The Final Note is not something I would play often. To me it serves as a goodbye to the founder, inspiration and firebrand of the Allman Brothers Band.   Something to play in remembrance of Duane on special occasions.

Duane was really something and the band never again had a musician his equal by several ways of looking at it. And just 24. Heck Duane was just getting started when he had his accident.

I remember him well. He was cocky and a firebrand. But man could he play. Light a fire on the stage in a New York minute.

Islala’s reply was “pure gold...I’ve gone back to it 3-4 times already”

That anything salvageable was able to be extracted from 49 year old cassette tape from a hand-held recorder, & tweaked to the point of making The Final Note audible enough to market it, is a technological miracle - not to mention its discovery😄 - fantastic work for sure

anyone bought the newly-remastered Atlanta Pop released some weeks ago? The 2003 original sounds fine to my ears, curious how the upgrade sounds

Hoping all had a happy holiday today🤙✌️

I love it. I have Spotify so I have been listening through there the sound is excellent. Not sure about the comparison and if it improved but sure sounds good. And you get that guy rambling about sperm to open it up. LOL

One of the extended Statesboro and I always love those.

Happy Holidays and Every Days to you and all on here!

One of those shows you remember seeing the setlist for and wishing you could hear it and when you finally do it meets and exceeded all expectations. Is it "the best show you've never heard of" as they attest? I certainly can't say it's NOT!

The whole band is on point with high energy top to bottom, but this is a Warren show, imo. He does some really sweet things in MJ and Jessica, in particular.
