John Bonamassa is supposed to THE blues guitar player now. Wonder why he was left out and wonder if he turned Slash down or wasn't invited and feels slighted.
Just the other day I read an interview with Joe talking about the blues and his 1955 Strat hard tail and an ES-335 he owns Joe said were Les Paul killers when it comes to a slow blues solo.

@robertdee Joe is a pretty big star these days and his ticket prices are $$$ so not sure he would attend if the money was not right. He mentioned in interviews that he wants to retire in his early 60's and does not plan to be a lifer.

Would have been great for him to be on the bill but Slash is one of my favorite guitar players so it should be a nice night of blues so really looking forward to it.

@bill_graham Yes Bill I found an interview with Joe Bonamassa last night and he said playing clean and at the level he requires of himself and the guys in his band is very important to him.
Said he didn't want to keep touring after age and road wear had diminished his skills. Said some of the players he admired stayed on stage too long in his opinion and they just couldn't bring it like they use to and Jo doesn't want to be one.

I’m playing a Strat, too, which you never hear me use”: Slash explains why he swapped his Les Paul for a Stratocaster to cover a Peter Green track on his new blues solo album

Slash feat. Beth Hart "Stormy Monday" - Official Audio

Bought this last week, even though I'm not a fan of Slash, but its worth the price alone just for Beth Hart covering Stormy Monday.

This is what I posted in What Are You Listening Too:
"Bought this more out of curiosity with him making a blues based release. Guest vocalists on all songs including Paul Rodgers, Billy Gibbons, Chris Robinson, Chris Stapleton, Beth Hart and Iggy Pop featured. Guest guitarists on some tracks including Gibbons, Gary Clark Jr etc. Some of it works pretty well like Hoochie Coochie Man with BG, some not so much. Odd covers too of The Temptations tune "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" and Stevie Wonder's "Living For The City," much more Motown type songs than blues standards. It's typical Slash, bursts of multi-note runs that come off a little heavy at times, it's my feeling that more notes rather than less doesn't necessarily help a blues based song. Your mileage may vary."
It's grown on me after a few more listens. The track with Paul Rodgers (Born Under A Bad Sign) reminds me a lot of Rodgers' release "Muddy Waters Blues" which from the name indicates the release is covers of Muddy tunes. That had guest guitarists on each track including Slash on "The Hunter." The Rodgers album was released in 1993. (Really good!)
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

the sad part about this is when Slash first was going to do this 25 years ago it sounded like there would be guest guitar players too. The good part is most of the names tossed around at the time appear here still though Tyler doesn't sing any. A few names mentioned in the late 90's as people Slash hoped could participate are John Lee Hooker, BB King, Clapton, Jeff Beck, Waren Haynes, Joe Perry and Gregg Allman.

I'll be honest, Beth has a great voice, but she really needs to reign it in on this one. I think in general at times she really goes over the top.....not really needed. Her voice speaks for it self.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Recent article where Slash talks about ABB and Dickey.
here is an excerpt.
Well, you all captured it. I got hip to that song “Stormy Monday” back in the day from the Allman Brothers. [Allmans singer/guitarist] Dickey Betts recently passed, and I always heard an echo of the Allman Brothers’ melodic blues in your playing. Do you have any thoughts on Dickey and his passing?
All right, so Dickey was amazing. And it’s really sad that we lost him recently – it really hit home – but as a player, man, he was a f---ing monster.
So now, when I listened to Dickey Betts, I hear me. I hear his playing on my stuff all the time. But it was all very, very what you call subconscious. I don’t think I ever sat down and physically learned any Dickey stuff, you know, or even Duane [Allman, the influential late Allman Brothers guitarist]. But that sound was so prominent that it just influenced me without me even really paying attention.
